[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. Stop adding bogus changes to short descriptions. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. signed, Willondon (talk) 03:56, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Willondon I'm don't believe that my edits have been disruptive in any way, could you please explain what I did that caused you to think this? I use the official wikipedia mobile app which encourages me to add descriptions to articles that are lacking them, I decided to add descriptions to some articles and did so to the best of my ability, if you don't like how I described something why not fix it yourself rather than just reverting my edits? As far as I know I haven't broken any conventions and my recent description edits have been fully accurate to my knowlage. BurninButter (talk) 12:11, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Willondon I think I understand reverting my description edit on History of the Alphabet however I don't think any of my other edits warrent changing the description back to "none" BurninButter (talk) 12:19, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Willondon As this does NOT classify as vandalism please issue a warning if my edits really are harmful and revert only when necessary BurninButter (talk) 12:40, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- I apologize on two counts. As I went through the repeated SD edits, I misinterpreted your enthusiasm as a persistent and deliberate attempt to over complicate the descriptions. I was wrong to label it vandalism. I also lost sight of the fact that "none" as a short description is peculiar to Wikipedia, and a new editor can't be expected to know that it's not an invitation to add one. Again, "none" is used where the article's title pretty much speaks for itself, so that bots compiling lists of articles that need a SD don't include them. I often approach short descriptions as not so much saying what the topic is as what sort of thing it is. May your future at Wikipedia be a far more positive experience than thus far. signed, Willondon (talk) 16:20, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- I really appreciate your apology, I hadn't read the guidelines for short descriptions thoroughly enough and assumed that every article needed a description. I am also genuinely sorry if any of my replies to your post here seemed hostile, it was my intention to remain as civilized as possible and I acknowledge that I may not have.
- On the Wikipedia mobile app there is a button to edit the description on articles that lack one, this button leads to a screen with a single textbox allowing editing short descriptions without opening the full editor that doesn't change the fact that I didn't know about descriptions being set as "none" but this would have prevented me from seeing the "none" designation in the first place.
- Thank you for your understanding, I will look through the guidelines and documentation on short descriptions before I edit or add them again. I will also double check for short descriptions being set to "none" when editing on the mobile app and avoid editing descriptions on articles with self explanatory titles. - I didn't read any hostility in your replies. You handled yourself exceptionally well in the situation. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 16:46, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
