I Need Help
I'm trying to add more genres to the Hispanic music template, but I don't know how to get it right. I left the mistakes for anyone who did know how to get it right to fix, but instead of fixing the mistakes, you just reverted the template back to its previous appearance. Why? 47.36.25.163 (talk) 19:54, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- You broke the template. This is what it looked like after you had finished editing it. Your edits had to be reverted as the template is currently used in 144 articles. You should preview your edits before saving them, and if they haven't worked, don't save them. Rather ask for help at the Teahouse or the Help desk. —Bruce1ee 22:20, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

Regarding Removal of the link
Hello! Just now you have removed my link on the page Tata Nexon by saying that it is inappropriate. Can you please tell me how it is inappropriate? I was just updating the sales figures which were not available there and it will only help users to get the latest sales figures. And if you will say that I am self-promoting then please tell me what I am self-promoting and why other external links are still present there? And now also tell me how can I edit sales figures without giving external links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CJ CARS INDIA (talk • contribs) 07:17, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Unnecessary spaces
Hi, why did you add several {{sp}}
in this edit? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 16:41, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Redrose64: Image captions ending in "px" generate false positive linter errors. The suggested work-around is to append {{sp}} to the caption. See Help:Lint errors/bogus-image-options, task T276675. —Bruce1ee 17:08, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- I've added an inline comment here to explain the reason for the {{sp}}'s – which I should have done in the first edit!. —Bruce1ee 21:09, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

So I saw that you reverted my edits about serial killer, Carol M. Bundy. I found out that her full name is Carol Mary Bundy, and you reverted my edits. Why did you do that? COI Request The Serpent
Hello User:Bruce1ee: I work for Living Films and am therefore in a COI situation regarding edits to related articles. I see that you have made some edits to the article about The Serpent (TV series) in the past. I requested a couple of edits on the talk page back in February, and I was wondering if you might find it a good use of your time to take a look and see if they could be posted? I understand that as a COI I am unable to do this myself. Thank you for your time and consideration. Best Livingfilms23 (talk) 01:33, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
January 13 - Luis Díaz inclusion in Births
@Bruce1ee: Hello there! I see you reverted my edit on the January 13 article, as new entries require citations. I understand this, but how am I supposed to cite a person? If it was a news event, I would understand completely. But I do not know what am I supposed to cite when Im adding a person that was born on that day.
I will inmediately delete this section when this is resolved. Thank you for your help! Mjeims (talk) 00:19, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Template:Structural evolution of the European Union
Thanks for fixing that. I guess I'm too slow on the uptake to get the footnotes right for this template ... I was trying to turn them into note refs with working backlinks (with the usual blue highlighting), but I'm afraid that is seriously beyond my skills. Same with Template:European Union command and control structure by the way: I just can't get those backlinks going for the explanatory footnotes. Aargh ... Hildeoc (talk) 13:37, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
PS: In case you know how to deal with that (which I assume from your comment), and you can afford the time – would you mind giving me a hand here, perhaps? (I've been struggling with that mess in vain for hours now 😢) Greetings--Hildeoc (talk) 13:48, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Hildeoc: Sure, I'll have a look at them and get back to you. —Bruce1ee 15:02, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Hildeoc: I've created two versions of {{Structural evolution of the European Union}} in my user space: User:Bruce1ee/Structural evolution of the European Union (test1) and User:Bruce1ee/Structural evolution of the European Union (test2). The first one uses numeric reference numbers, while the second uses alphabetic note ids. You'll notice that the order of the notes have changed a bit, and that's because they are listed in the sequence that they are used. The methods I've used are not the only way to do it. Have a look at Help:Footnotes for other methods. I hope this helps you. —Bruce1ee 17:25, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for taking the trouble to fix that (and sorry for keeping you waiting)! This is very, very kind of you. I shall have a closer look at both versions and then get back to you soon, alright? Best--Hildeoc (talk) 14:36, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- No problem. Take your time. —Bruce1ee 14:57, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- First of all, once again a huge thank you for your quick support (and patience). I do really appreciate that. Since I've now finally got around to taking a closer look at both versions, I chose the one with alphabetic notes for reasons of distinction from regular references, which use numeric indicators. Just FYI. Gratefully, Hildeoc (talk) 23:41, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

- When editing days-of-the-year pages as you did on February 24, please read the edit notice above the edit window entitled "Please read before editing". It states, amongst other things, "Each addition now requires a direct citation from a reliable source on this page supporting it. Simply providing a wikilink is not sufficient and additions without direct sources will be removed." Your addition did not provide a citation. For help on inline citaions, have a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:Inline citation. —Bruce1ee 10:16, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Columbus Day
Hello. Seems you removed my noting that today is Columbus Day which really should have at least been noted in the On This Day on the landing page (next to Canada's Thanksgiving). The reason being that it's not a 'set' date from year-to-year. Very well. Please let me know if you will need assistance scrubbing mention of other such observances. In a couple days, there is Día de la Resistencia Indígena which also floats from year to year. I'm sure you'll make sure it's removed from the Home landing page, yes? Please advise. Thanks!2603:6011:C003:1256:57B:F365:ACFD:AC6E (talk) 23:15, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- Please raise this at Wikipedia talk:Selected anniversaries. —Bruce1ee 06:29, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ah - that's certainly not necessary. When those other non-set observances occur, I will simply quote you and direct them here. It's the same reasoning, yes? And should anyone object, well then, you can explain the rationale. So no worries. Best! 2603:6011:C003:1256:7559:19A6:350C:7669 (talk) 09:35, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
Link Removal
Hello Bruce. I've had a message saying that you've removed an external link that I added to the '2021-present United Kingdom cost of living crisis. When I look at the page, it's not just the link you've removed, it's the whole sentence that I added. I'm a little confused as the sentence and link was 100% relevant to the article. Should I be adding the external link as a reference as opposed to a link in the text? Appreciate, if you could offer me some advice. SellCell (talk) 14:43, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does not permit links to blogs in its articles. They are generally not regarded as reliable sources. Have a look at user-generated content and external links to avoid. In addition, the text you added gives the impression that you are promoting the SellCell website, which is also not permitted. See WP:Spam. —Bruce1ee 15:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
Aaqib Javed
Hello Bruce1ee, this edit to Aaqib Javed reinstated a line break <br />
in lieu of an inline list ({{Ubl}}) with the explanation fixed lint errors
. I have a few questions. Is that really a lint error (I'm curious to know which script/tool identifies it as lint)? Secondly, does MOS:NOBR not apply in this circumstance? Finally, is there any harm in using {{br separated entries}} in this circumstance? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. – Archer1234 (talk) 16:24, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

in the infobox in Aaqib Javed generates a "div-span-flip" lint error under "Miscellaneous issues" in Special:LintErrors. (You can get help on this type of error here.) The problem is not the {{ubl}} template, but the inclusion of the {{lang}} template in one of {{ubl}}'s list items. I added<br />
to avoid this clash, but as you correctly pointed out, list items shouldn't be separated by line breaks. I tried your suggestion of {{br separated entries}} and it doesn't generate any lint errors. So that would probably be a better solution. —Bruce1ee 17:48, 24 October 2022 (UTC)- Many thanks for the explanation. I learn something new every day. Cheers. – Archer1234 (talk) 17:54, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- The actual problem was that the infobox used span tags to wrap
|name=
, which then contained a div tag. I have fixed the infobox to avoid this problem. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:52, 24 October 2022 (UTC)- @Jonesey95: Thanks for that. I didn't realize the problem was in {{Infobox cricketer}}. (@Archer1234: FYI). —Bruce1ee 21:24, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Apologies for the misclicks
Terribly sorry about this[1] and this[2]. I had just got Huggle fired up and hit a couple wrong buttons. --DB1729talk 07:00, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- @DB1729: Not a problem. It happens when dealing with a vandal like this. You should see some of my misclicks!. —Bruce1ee 07:12, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
alt text
Hi Bruce. Here, you just removed the image's alt text. Did you mean to do that? Would you prefer different alt text? - Dank (push to talk) 11:15, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Dank: I removed it because, IMO, alt="same" doesn't describe the picture (File:Maundia triglochinoides 158922966.jpg) as alt text requires. Or am I missing something? —Bruce1ee 11:32, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm definitely not the expert on alt text. If I were blind, I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't appreciate hearing "Maundia triglochinoides, Maundia triglochinoides, Maundia triglochinoides, Maundia triglochinoides, Maundia triglochinoides" if there were five images of the plant in one cell of a table. There are just two images in the cell here, but the question is, at what point does repetition get annoying? I have no strong feeling about this at all, but this page is up at WP:FLC (and promotion is imminent) so I'll restore this alt text until we can come up with something better. What's your preference? - Dank (push to talk) 15:37, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- If the alt text of this image is read in conjunction with the alt texts of the other images in the table cell, then "same" makes sense, but not if read in isolation of the others. I personally would repeat "Maundia triglochinoides" each time, but I also don't feel too strongly about it; "same" isn't generating any errors. —Bruce1ee 17:16, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Happy to do that, I'll whip up some regex to handle it after lunch. - Dank (push to talk) 17:47, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Why you keep removing Stephen Hassenfeld in January 19 wiki page
Hello
I just added Stephen Hassenfeld in January 19 because he was born in January 19
But someone is removing it on the wikipedia page of January 19 158.62.10.242 (talk) 13:47, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- As I stated in my edit summary here, new entries require an inline citation (please read WP:DOYCITE). Also, please read the edit notice at the top of January 19 in edit mode. —Bruce1ee 13:55, 17 November 2022 (UTC)

Quick clarification of revert
Hey, just to clarify, this revert was aimed at the edit before yours, not the fix you did. I picked the wrong option for rollback so I've repeated the revert to cover the intended edit. R Prazeres (talk) 17:49, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. —Bruce1ee 21:21, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
About August 29 and Geir-Inge Sivertsen
My mistake. I’ve added the source now, I hope it’s sufficient.

Deleted articles
Hello Bruce1ee,
I wonder you can maybe help me with a problem with some corrections from Deb, she is 'cleaning' the year pages and without any reason of guidance. Her argument is that there are no citations added with some information on the year pages. I have explained to her that without any citations available you create 'blanco pages', because there are many year pages without citations. Can you help me to stop these actions, without ruining the year pages! Peters01 (talk) 22:20, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Peters01: Year pages fall under Wikipedia:WikiProject Years, and the best place to raise issues you may have is on the talk page at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Years. I'm not involved in any way in this project. —Bruce1ee 22:40, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
