Man that was messed up. I created that page for my band, you didn't have to delete it. I'm going to recreate it whether you like it or not. And if it gets deleted again, I'll create it again, and again and again. There's no reason for you to delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ndh777 (talkcontribs) 19:08, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HF2

[edit]

I've seen this described as a Three-center four-electron bond, but I'm not convinced. Pimentel's work is very old. Is there anything more modern? Do look this up and change it if you're sure that I am wrong.

Regarding the square brackets, they really don't belong here. They are used for transition metal complexes like [Ni(NH3)6]2+ because otherwise there would be two lots of round brackets. Where there is no ambiguity it's better to leave the brackets out. Check out the autoionisation equation , p816, Greenwood & Earnshaw.

My other objection is that square brackets are used to denote concentration in the context of chemical equilibrium, so again leave them out if they don't really add anything.

P.S. Norman Greenwood was my boss for a time and Alan Earnshaw an old friend and colleague.Petergans 20:14, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you really sure about 3c-4e bonding? My doubts are 1) the diagram in the article shows a p orbital on the central atom; surely the H 2p is much too high energy? 2) All that stuff about hypervalent is quite superceded. In those days they were a bit fixated by the octet rule. PX5 uses 3d which are not as far above 3p in P(V) as in lower oxidation states, and the octet rule does not apply. I only have access to SciFinder if I go in to the University, so it's not easy for me to search for the results of any recent calculations.Petergans 22:01, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EPR article

[edit]

I moved the EPR article from Electron Spin Resonance to Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, since about 99% of the time it referred to EPR and not ESR. Take a look when you have a moment. Some sections still need a lot of work, especially the one on applications of EPR. - Astrochemist 19:58, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They were not made up dude! Im new to this and struggled with the programming to site references correctly. Real Samba FC was an ameteur team like the thousands listed on Wikipedia, they achievements were locally lauded and anyone living in the midlands of the UK would know who both Real Samba FC and Chris Jackson were. I know you didnt delete the Chris Jackson page but just because Google doesnt bring anything major up it doesnt mean they are non notable. Google aint the bible of all history of all time! Square brackets around complex ions

[edit]

I often see edits on my watchlist where you bracket up previously naked ions.

Would it be worth drafting a guideline on the use of such brackets for Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals/Style guidelines?

It would give WP chemists a chance to discuss the issue, and would provide novices like me a clear explanation of when to use this style, and why it is preferable.

Great editing, by the way.

Speedy deletion nomination of Dissident Warwick

[edit]

Hello, Brichcja. Thanks for keeping an eye out on article quality. I'm dropping you a note to let you know that I have removed the speedy deletion template that you placed on Dissident Warwick because the article does not seem to fit the speedy deletion criterion. While the article certainly doesn't do much to assert notability, WP:CSD#A7 is specifically for people (grouped or individuals) or web content. People's products, like books and albums, are explicitly excluded, so I'm afraid that it cannot apply to a magazine. Please consider other means for addressing ongoing concerns. Feel free to let me know at my talk page if you'd like to discuss this further. Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:27, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have nominated the above article for speedy under G11 (in my view correctly). However, the article's creator, User:Msbfreaky keeps removing the tag and already has done so 4 times. I think he already violated the 3RR rule and I left a message at his talk page. However, this probably need to be reported since the tag is still absent (and I have two reverts there myself, when I tried to restore the tag). Nsk92 (talk) 13:36, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

speedy deletion of "The Artist Life"

[edit]

Hello, I posted an entry for Toronto band, "The Artist Life" this afternoon.

Although they are yet unsigned, this band has garnered notable recognition and play on major rock radio station Edge 102.1fm (including their award for best new artist) as well as medium rotation of their debut video for the single "Waiting Room" on Canada's Much Music.

Their list of former bands is, as well, quite impressive, including EMI recording artists, JERSEY (band) with ties to major Canadian acts, Alexis On Fire, & The Saint Alvia Cartel.

I wish to formally request the reinstatement of The Artist Life wikipedia page.

speedy deletion of The Present (2009 film)

[edit]

I don't understand why my article on The Present (2009 film) has been deleted. The A7 criteria specifically excludes products of people (such as books, albums, etc) are excluded and I would assume the etc. would include films. Anyways, the article should be considered notable because the lead actor has worked with famous musicians such as Britney Spears and Mariah Carey and one of the co-stars, George Nozuka is a current R&B singer in Canada with #1 singles to his credit. I would like to have my article reposted or at least an explanation of why it was "speedily deleted". Thank you.

Deletion of Jacob Ginsberg

[edit]

I am confused as to why my article on Jacob Ginsberg continues to be deleted. It was deleted once by you and twice by that Gogo Dodo character. He absolutely meets the criteria for a notable person, especially in the New Orleans area- the city's newspaper even wrote a front page article on the guy! How is he not considered notable? He's a great person and deserves to be noted on Wikipedia. If Peter Morreale III, a no-name member of the Tulane University football team who hasn't seen any playing time (nor will he ever) has a Wikipedia page, then Jacob should have his own as well. He is a very notable person, and it just isn't fair.

For the record, he meets the criteria of a "creative professional". He is considered an important figure and has been cited by his successors with the Zephyrs as influential, as well as by several members of the team's front office and multiple well-known fans at the park. He isn't necessarily considered an originator of a new technique, but his dependability and hard-working manner are the reason why the Zephyrs made the role of the batboy an actual job, rather than some little kid who gets to be the "honorary batboy" and changes from one game to the next. He has also been noted in many different periodicals for his work, with the most important being that of the Times Picayune, New Orleans' prime newspaper. Please talk to me and tell me why he isn't important!

Thanks,

In response to your response of "Deletion of Jacob Ginsberg"

[edit]

Thank you for your quick response. sorry for accusing you of that deletion, I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, so I'm still learning what stuff means and does. I tried to leave a post on Gogo Dodo's talk page, but it has been semi-protected, and since I just recently joined, it will not allow me to post anything. As for Jacob Ginsberg's notability, I included three references, two of which are from the website nola.com, which is where all articles from the Times Picayune are placed on the internet and from which most of the information in the article is derived. There are other human sources I've spoken with on Jacob's behalf, but I don't know exactly how to reference humans on here just yet.

Thank you for your time and patience.

A little digging shows that 'Cardice' is the market name used by Air Liquide UK Ltd (see here). There are also published sources that refer to it as "card ice", which is presumably a corruption but still an abbreviation of CARbon Dioxide ICE. I've updated the article to reflect this.

I agreed to cease changing the chembox headers to IUPAC names by User:Smokefoot's request. I initiated to insert IUPAC names in the other names category. I agreed to cease inserting IUPAC names in latter category and iniated to create redirect pages instead by Smokefoot's recommendation. Following persistent interferrence by User:Tetracube, I ceased to create redirect pages, and initiated adding alternative IUPAC names in the article spaces.

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

Well, I just prodded it rather than took it to AFD since it does (kind of) assert some notability, but is badly written so I thought it could have a chance to be improved before (possibly) being deleted. Chris (talk) 16:01, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, ok. Since the article-creator had opened a Request for Feedback it seems like they are confused about how to proceed/where to respond (& the AfD section can sometimes be useful in that regard), but a prod makes sense - gives them time to improve. H-bonding

[edit]

You removed my statement after the IUPAC definition of H-bonding. You might not be happy with how I said it but something needs to be there because that short definition is extremely misleading. The next line kind of tries to clarify that it is a more complex topic but does quite get the job done. I have students that I'm teaching general chemistry using wiki pages to clarify topics and this definition all by itself is very confusing to them. Well even to me it made no sense until I read the rest of the IUPAC paper.

I actually believe the new definition should simply be left out. It can be referenced as existing but stating it without all the additional criteria is just incomplete.

R. J. Ellory at BLP/N

[edit]

Hi, I just can't get through to Roger Ellory (talk · contribs) (I mean two way communication). He messages me on my talk pages, I reply but get no response, other than another message which indicates that he hasn't read or understood my earlier reply. See also Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#R. J. Ellory. Have tried to point him to BLP/N after he asjed for help; and showed him how to get to View history, all to no avail. Am deeply frustrated. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 17:32, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Reynold Bouyer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alford. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thanks for your work on this - I created the article on The Shepherd's Life and the previous redirect from him to that book, but with his new (not really "second") book he is clearly worth an article on his own. I've done some tidying up on the new article. But I notice that you seem to have used some of the references from the original article without changing the "access-date". That date should mean "I consulted this website on this date and at that point the web page supported the content I am using it for in this article". Websites change over time, so the "access-date" is important. Because you haven't changed the date in the references you have used it is not clear whether you have actually looked at the sources you are citing. Please check your sources and correct the access dates. Thanks. PamD 18:54, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I notice with interest that there's a Polish wikipedia article which has got a date of birth for him - but I don't see it in any of our sources.
I also notice that in your references you've used all-numeric dates. These aren't allowed except, if you really want, as the "access-date" or in tables etc where space is really short. It gets complicated because 09-11 can mean 9th November or September 11th to different nationalities of reader. See WP:MOSNUM for more. I'm going to change all the dates to UK style dates with spelled-out months.
I now see that you copied a chunk of text from the article on the book. When you do this you must say so, rather than just claiming another author's work as your own. Please read Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. PamD 19:07, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned article which does not appear to pass WP:GNG (which superseeds WP:NFOOTY) and relies largely on primary sources.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Brennan Johnson

[edit]

Thought I'd message here to to clarify on the Brennan Johnson article. You seem to be duplicating his stats twice? There only needs to be a single infobox for his spell with Forest from his debut with Forest to today. His time at Lincoln was a loan, so no need for another "spell" at Forest. You've also duplicated the career stats too. Check how many appearances he's made for Forest vs. what you've put? It's incorrect. Thanks. UncleTupelo1 (talk) 13:51, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Russell King

[edit]

Hi there, I was reading the article Russell King (fraudster) when I noticed that the date of birth listed in the lead was different to that in the infobox. I then went through the revision history and found that you added the date of birth in this revision, but didn't add a citation along with it. Is there a reference on the page which includes this date of birth? If not, from where did you obtain the date that you added in this revision? Cheers — JThistle38 (talk) 12:38, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I can't actually remember where I found it! I'm fairly certain it's correct though! You been listening to the BBC podcast about him? Chris (talk) 17:37, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't, actually! I just saw it advertised so decided I'd have a look at the Wikipedia page instead of wasting my time listening to a podcast about it. No worries about the source, I'll just have to a look around for one. Cheers — JThistle38 (talk) 19:08, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Russell King content removal

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to ask why you reverted my recent edit to this article for 'unexplained deletion'. I did explain it in the edit summary. Thanks. JohnmgKing (talk) 13:02, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Did you try and verify it? Chris (talk) 21:59, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Managed to just now, couldn't find it earlier and thought best to remove til something was found to show the content was correct. Thanks. JohnmgKing (talk) 00:47, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Chris (talk) 12:12, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
