Poster

[edit]

No problem, I enjoy adding posters to films as it does make the article look so much better. I went through the film articles you created and added more posers when I was able. I also put up some infobox requests, so if you want to extend some of those articles you can possibly work on that. Also, try and make sure that you include the {{Film}} template on the talk page each time that you create a new article so we can easily locate film articles. Keep up the good work, you are an asset to WP:Films! --Nehrams2020 22:08, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Brian1979, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Noah Fleiss

[edit]

I know it's not much of a citation, but I have a copy of the family tree. :-D

Seriously, what sort of reference would mention that Noah's great-great and Heidi's great-great-great were brothers or cousins? As it is, most of the web is filled with the misinformation that he's her nephew, which (as I wrote at Talk:Noah_Fleiss) isn't true. If you have any suggestions, I'd welcome them. well the one that is currently listed on the Channing Tatum page should definitely not be there. It's just a blog. There are fansites that have been on the web for much longer, and have much more information and facts.

The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter!
Issue III - February 1, 2007

Announcement: If someone requests help or feedback on an article, please try your hardest to help them out if you are able. Thank you.

Project News
  • The LGBT Portal has once again been revamped and a work rota started. Efforts towards Featured Portal status are slowly coming together.
  • The assessment system has been a great success, we have tagged over 4000 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • The Translation department has changed its focus, to LGBT articles about non-English topics and people on which there may be more information on the relevant foreign Wikipedia. Please add your name if you are fluent in any language other than English.
  • Jumpaclass is picking up slowly, with nine people having entered. With over 2000 stubs we need to improve our article quality. Please sign up and get it going! Challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • There is an ongoing discussion about the current LGBT categorisation system here, here, and a little bit here. A special page has now been set up here to deal with this.
  • A Watchlist has been set up to monitor controversial and/or highly vandalised articles. It can also be used for article disputes, just add a note explaining the nature of the dispute.
  • With the influx of so many active members, there is now enough support for a LGBT studies peer review, which may be found here. It's in the beta phase at the moment, so bear with us if we make any mistakes. Feel free to peer review any articles you have been working on.
  • It was agreed this month to start reducing the uses of the Notice board, as many members felt that it was not effective. An open tasks template has been created, bringing together important announcements, FAC/FARs, Peer reviews, XfDs, the COTM, and requested articles. You may desire to watchlist it. A Deletion sorting subpage is also now working to bring together XfDs - this should be bot-driven, but we have not currently tagged enough articles to make this fully automated, so please update the list with any LGBT-related XfDs you come across.

Hi,

Is there any way you could stop someone from spamming a page? Some girl is spamming the Channing Tatum page by adding her link. I'm trying to have a discussion about it so we can decide which site should be listed, but she keeps adding hers and isn't discussing anything. EXXC3L 22:22, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

If you will look at the talk page on Channing Tatum, you will see all three of the fan sites finally came to an agreement that they should all be there. I tried to discuss with the user above, but she started using inappropriate language in our discussions. You can read the talk page and see what I am talking about. She has a personal grudge against me, because she is jealous of my new blog. My site is currently linked to from MovieSet.com and I am contacted daily by industry insiders asking me to promote movie and DVD releases for the actor. This user is upset by this and is trying to cause trouble. If you will notice, the new news related to the actor has been reported on my site first and then reported on the other fan sites later. You can find me anywhere and everywhere on the net (Netscape, Digg, Technorati) just to name a few. You can even read the following press release to learn more about the blog: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/1/prweb499938.htm. She is unfairly trying to get my site removed even though I have the most up-to-date information about the actor currently. Wcfirm 19:00, 12 February 2007 (UTC)][reply]

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

[edit]

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Speedy deletion of Theo Rossi

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Theo Rossi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Bongomatic (talk) 07:13, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Theo Rossi

[edit]

Hi Brian1979

Thank you for your (respectful) comment on the AfD discussion for Theo Rossi. You're an inclusionist, while I'm someone who believes that having articles on non-notable topics diminishes the utility of an encyclopedia, but (despite their overbroad definition of notability) tries to stay within the policies. With respect to the efforts spent on the nomination in this case, the of the original nomination was pretty brief and to the point (just the first two paragraphs). When I saw the first keep comment, which to me indicated a misunderstanding of the subject's oeuvre, I expanded the nomination.

Waste of time? Probably. But we all have our ways of trying to improve the project, and the one I can conveniently do while on conference calls, etc. is new page patrol, an activity that is explicitly encouraged--from which I conclude that at least some people think it's a worthwhile pursuit.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Brian1979! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 14 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Holt McCallany - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Stark Sands - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  3. John Driscoll (actor) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  4. Glenn Howerton - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Ridley Park

[edit]

Hi Brian, Saw your edit on Ridley Park. Are you from there? If so, I'm always looking for more sources and books on the town. If you know of any, please let me know. Thanks. Malke2010 20:04, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, great coincidence. I lived there, too. Great that you live in Chester County. If you come across any interesting information on the area, please let me know. I would be happy to add content to the various pages for Chester, and Ridley Park, and Swarthmore, Chadds Ford, etc. Also, isn't there an orchards out that way? I forget the name of it. We went there all the time for apples, pumpkin pies, etc. Malke2010 20:41, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It might be Northbook Orchards, that's very close to where I live. Or Barnards. But, yes, there are a few, for sure. -FateSmiled&DestinyLaughed (talk) 20:55, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saved this from ProD, but it still needs more sources. Bearian (talk) 20:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PROD

[edit]

The article Mather Zickel has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable and obscure

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mod MMG (User Page) Reply on my talkpage. Mather Zickel

[edit]

I want to thank you for fixing Mather Zickel's article. I contribute to Wiki on an irregular basis and only just now got the message that it had been proposed for deletion. Anyhow, I appreciate your help. Have a great night. -FateSmiled&DestinyLaughed (talk) 23:57, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. The article could do with more development, so I have put a {{find}} template on the talkpage which will assist in finding sources. Regards SilkTork *YES! 08:21, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmi Simpson

[edit]

Along time ago you started a page for actor Jimmi Simpson. I'm fairly bad at computer-working, and I saw that there is no image of him on his page. I'm really OCD, and for some reason i'm kind of going insane about that. Could you help me with getting an image of him onto his page? There is something about copyrights and I get really confused. Thanks!!

The National Archives is making its resources available to Wikipedia, so help us forge this important relationship! Please sign up and introduce yourself. Dominic·t 15:22, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:02, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

[edit]

Hi Brian. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:46, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tod Williams (filmmaker) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
