Barbara Kruger
[edit]Hello, Regarding the image on Barbara Kruger, if it's your image you're allowed to use it. The only thing is whether it's ok for you that it's in the public domain, meaning anyone could use your image. If that's ok with you, then you're absolutely allowed to use your own photo.--CaroleHenson (talk) 16:53, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Carole! This will be my first time uploading a photo! Could you provide some insight - in Step 3 for loading the image - do I select "this is a free work" (the first choice), "this is a copy-righted non-free work" (the second choice) or "this doesn't fit any of the categories above" (the third choice)? Thanks so much! (I have no problem sharing my own photo. I mean...I already Instagrammed it so it is in the public domain anyway...BettyLondon (talk) 17:21, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I would recommend loading it to Commons at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
- After you load the image and click next, the next screen will ask if it's your own photo or from another. You'd click your photo and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm that you're putting it in the public domain. Then, click through that and add description and a category, such as Domestic violence.
- I hope this helps! Thanks for adding a photo!--CaroleHenson (talk) 17:50, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello BettyLondon, during the last four weeks I've been working in the Nan Hoover article (beside my work, personal obligations and contributions in the German wikipedia). I did this in collaboration with Mary Carroll and Dawn Leach from the Nan Hoover foundation, these two ladies live in my neighbourhood and are interested in contributing for wikipedia. Today I decided to put the article online, but to my suprise the empty space was meanwhile filled by you. As Gorbatschow said here in Berlin: "He who comes too late is punished by life", but IMHO it wood be a good idea to merge our articles, because yours has more english-related links, while mine has more "beef".
Please have a look at mine and decide how we should proceed, I will talk to the "foundation ladies". Greetings from Berlin, where we knew Nan personally. --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 18:55, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Fridolin freudenfettltalk!
Yes - when I saw Nan's name on the list of "Notable artists without Wikipedia pages" (in English!) I was shocked! I hope that it is at least useful that I've created a stub page with references. But yes, please, feel free to edit and expand! And if you want to copy/paste your sections into the existing Nan Hoover page I would be happy to help add citations/references from her website and around the web!
You have certainly compiled great information (with wonderful photos!) and some of the sections don't even require much work to be added - such as the "awards" and "performances" sections!
Let me know what you think would be best! I'm happy to help!

Paula Rego lede
[edit]I do not see how the following text that you deleted could be considered unsuitable for the lede: 'Rego’s style has evolved from abstract towards representational, and she has favoured pastels over oils for much of her career. Her work often reflects an aggressive feminism, coloured by folk-themes from her native Portugal.' Valetude (talk) 23:39, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi User:BettyLondon. Just wanted to thank you for all your edits related to women artists, feminism, and the arts, and on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Women artists page. I noticed we have a lot of overlapping interest as far as editing goes. I've been involved in various projects and events like organizing a #GWWI Global Women's Wikipedia write-in Edit-a-thon at Columbia University Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Studio@Butler March 2014 and I guess we both edited the Ulrike Müller page. If you are ever working on a page related to women artists or women and the arts and want an extra hand or reviewer, let me know! :D OR drohowa (talk) 16:29, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Hi OR drohowa! Thank you! Yes, I love the project and love helping out any little way that I can! I mostly prefer to do the bigger, easy edits (taking an article from Stub to C or B Grade) but if I ever decide to do some more serious content editing and feel out of depth I will definitely ask for help! Thanks so much again! And let me know if you ever organize another east coast Edit-a-thon!BettyLondon (talk) 03:28, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi again! If you happen to be in NYC, there is an informal Wikipedia meetup in Manhattan tomorrow at the Metropolitan Library Council. I would also love to have you at an upcoming Art+Feminism Wikipedia event in NYC on October 27th at CUNY Graduate Center. If you are not in NYC, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help bring you here! dhowardmetro.org OR drohowa (talk) 15:59, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Hm...that is tempting! I have never been to an event before and I would love to see how they are run...I could potentially head up after work. I will get back to you on this! Thanks for letting me know about this! BettyLondon (talk) 14:44, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Have you heard of the Kaffeeklatsch? It is a test area for women to hear and support each other. The idea came about as a result of a discussion at meta regarding my IdeaLab proposal (yet open) for WikiProject Women.
Now that the klatsch has survived an MfD and WMF legal has said that it does not violate the non discrimination policy,[1] I am looking for women editors who might like to join.
Although I have started a couple of discussions, they are not urgent. For now, the "Please introduce yourself" discussion is more important! I want to take it slow at first and build a small group before trying to address heavy topics or come up with big goals. For now, the klatsch is there as a sort of refuge. I hope you will consider joining, and invite other women editors, too, if you wish. Lightbreather (talk) 22:30, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. May I request your kind help with Draft:Abigail Varela
[edit]Dear Betty: My I ask for your kind advice in order to have my article Draft:Abigail Varela revised with a view to creating the corresponding page. It has been kind of frustrating to see nobody has taken an interest in the revision after I tagged the article on July 29. I see you have created a number of articles for artists and I was hoping you can consider the revision yourself or otherwise refer me to some other editor, preferably someone with an interest in the arts. Just in case here is the link to the article: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Abigail_Varela . With kind regards, Neuralia (talk) 14:21, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
