Did what I could to save the lad, but 'twas not to be. It may be that once a few years of critical analysis of the story and character have occurred that he will be written about as it seems to me he serves as a foil for the main character. But for now there is only as you have said-- fancruft, synthesis and OR. Oh, yes. I found and removed a possible copy vio. There may be more, but I'm out of time. The day is done, and so am I. Cheers, and happy editing. Dlohcierekim 04:47, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- To your credit, you certainly tried more than anyone else, and for that I commend you. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 04:53, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Please explain why, and on what authority, you have choosen to delete (actually redirect) the stated page. It is an episode of the UK tv series 'Minder' and without it, the series will be incomplete. I am currently doing all the episodes, although I did not start the project. --Robert Fraser (talk) 04:22, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
The global bell curve
Please refrain from blanking the article. I am not advocating the position of the article. The original article, proposed by someone else, had copyrighted text. I removed the copyrighted text and Wikified the article. You then blanked the article. WHen I corrected that and added more changes, you blanked it again. Most people would consider your actions to be disruptive. I will assume that you have good faith, but just are unaware that the article is barely a half an hour old and still being reworked substantially.
If your motive is to be sure that the article is not a copyvio, at least wait for a few hours before evaluating it.
Best to you, Atom (talk) 14:16, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- No, you did not delete the copyvio. About 95% of that article is still cut-and-pasted from a copyrighted source. I refuse to "wait for a few hours" to ensure that Wikipedia is not breaking laws. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 14:17, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Furthermore, if you are going to assume good faith, kindly stop abusing your rollback rights. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 14:19, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- As I said, the article is a new article. My intention is the same as yours. I saw that the article was a copyvio and proceeded to rework it. You came into the picture mid edit and assumed that I was adding the material, not removing it. If you look at the article in its current form [[1]] which version do you think is a better article? (yours or mine?) Does my version have copyrighted text in it? (None - Not 95% as you suggested). You see that I wikified it. As you can see the article was created at 8:43 by User:Artichaudd, it is now 9:21. My response, the first to respond at 8:52 was to remove the copyrighted text. I mean no disrespect, but when I said that you should AGF, I meant it. Review the edit history, as well as communicate on the talk page if you have concerns. You note as soon as we had a conflict I discussed this immediately here on your talk page. Best to you, Atom (talk) 14:35, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- The article as it is now is free of the copyvios, so it seems everything works out in the end. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 14:37, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Two Qs re choosing best name for The Principal Upanishads (book by Radhakrishnan)
Hello Scapler, Thanks for your attention to my recently created article on the principal Upanishads, a book by Radhakrishnan. You moved the article from "The Principal Upanishads (book by Radhakrishnan)" to "The Principal Upanishads", stating (in the change log) that "no need for author here". I agree it's nicer and simpler if the article's name can be shorter. However, there are two things that you might want to be aware of with regard to the name, and that I'd like to know your thoughts about their implications:
- The term "principal Upanishads" has for a long time (centuries I think) been in wide usage as a technical term to describe a particular subset of Upanishads (see a subsection of the Upanishads page by that name). Hence, Radhakrishnan did not invent the phrase, nor is his the only discussion of it nor necessarily a definitive discussion; this could create confusion if the page is named "The Principal Upanishads" rather than something more specific like "The Principal Upanishads (book)"
- There have been several other books with the same title (see Google Book Search RESULTS). For example, there are also books by that exact same title by Swami Nikhilananda (2003 ISBN 048642717X) and Alan Jacobs (2003 ISBN 1903816505); other books have similar titles (e.g., "The principal upanishads: Isa, Kena, Katha, Prasna, Mindaka, Taittiriya, Aitareya and Svetasvatara Upanisads" by Swami Shivananda, 1983).
So it would seem that 1) omitting "book" from the title could cause confusion with the root concept; and 2) confusion with other books might be possible if we omit the author's name. However, among the books, Radhakrishnan's is almost surely the most well-known, although I believe the Nikhilananda version is also somewhat well-known (e.g., another Wikipedia editor quoted from it on a talk page discussion with me only a couple of weeks ago).
In these circumstances, what criteria should be used for naming the page? Some options might be
- leave the article as you left it, at "The Principal Upanishads";
- move to "The Principal Upanishads (book)"; and if pages ever are created for other books of the same title, there could be some sort of disambiguation notice at the top of the page. (should that also be mentioned somewhere in the lead even if other pages aren't created?)
- move the page back to "...(book by Radhakrishnan)".
I find myself inclined to go with #2 or perhaps #1, but perhaps there are standard operating procedures for such issues? It seems most efficient to decide this issue wisely now, so that we don't need to deal later with redirecting lots of links.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts. I am putting this message on your user talk, and also copying it to the article's talk page (currently at Talk:The Principal Upanishads), where you might want to respond. -- Health Researcher (talk) 16:57, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- I admit I did not know of the initial topic when I moved this. I think the ultimate outcome here - that the (book) name was affixed to the title, was the best one. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 02:12, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response (even if belated) - it's nice to know everyone's "on the same page", so to speak. Best regards - Health Researcher (talk) 17:44, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

OfficialNintendoMagazine.co.uk
Despite the title, both of the references you added citing this newssite indirectly come from Serebii.net. I have removed this content and and the "Reception" section again as:
- Serebii.net is not a reliable source
- The GamesRadar.com news thing does not say anything except complain about the uninspiring titles and the fact that its not on the 3DS
- It's an opinion piece and not a professional review
- A game article should not have a reception section if it has not been released yet, which means it is not really a review in the first place
Please do not replace this content without further discussion on the talk page.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 13:18, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Good Samaritan Hospital (San Jose)
Hello Scapler, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Good Samaritan Hospital (San Jose) to a proposed deletion tag. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Polargeo (talk) 11:31, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- I would disagree; the article still gives no context, but as always with CSD, if another thinks PROD is better, it does not harm to me at all. Thank you for the notification. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 13:46, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your contribution to Wikipedia's content. However, please follow POLICIES regarding nominating articles for deletion. "The content issues should be discussed at the relevant talk page, and other methods of dispute resolution should be used first" -- see Wikipedia:Deletion#Discussion Geĸrίtzl (talk)
- I am afraid it is you who has misread policy. There is no content dispute in the article; I don't think any of it is inaccurate, I simply believe the subject does not meet the general notability guide. AfD is the appropriate venue for discussing an article's deletion on these grounds. I believe you are confusing two very different issues: the content of an article and whether there should even be an article in the first place. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 01:26, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
- Someone has changed the policy, it used to be exactly as I stated it. At any rate, I have added 3rd party refs to David Smalley and would like you to review them. Your objection to the article has been overtaken by events and you thus should change your DELETE vote to KEEP. Geĸrίtzl (talk) 23:40, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi Scapler, a small request
Hi old friend! Long time no see. I don't come on to Wiki too often nowadays. However, I have recently finished a project here for the article on the Parthian Empire. I hope to nominate it soon as a featured article. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind reading through and copyediting a bit. It's a smaller article than Han Dynasty, but it is of decent size. Plus, I just want to know what you think! That is, if there's anything I could add or expand upon. Cheers buddy.--Pericles of AthensTalk 13:08, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- Cool man, take your time! Already a User:Pmanderson has put a [dubious – discuss] tag in the introduction. Exciting! I've refuted him, of course, on the talk page, but he has yet to respond. Anywho, have fun with the article; I hope you enjoy reading and copyediting it. Cheers.--Pericles of AthensTalk 00:16, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

- I see things are moving along. So do you think the article will be FAC-worthy by the weekend? Say, perhaps, Sunday evening? :) I'd like to nominate it soon. However, you can be deliberate and follow a steady pace with your copyediting if you feel that there is too much remaining material to digest in a single week. Cheers!--Pericles of AthensTalk 16:46, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Deletion Tag
I recently received a message for the speedy deletion of an article. Now that the article apparently conforms to policy, will the tag be removed automatically? See ElderHap's Talk Page

How not credible? So what, Not artists. One of the famous turkey. So encyclopaedic! See: Ismail here singer:Volkan Konak - Nebeviye(Message) 08:04, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- I am afraid that I am having a hard time understanding you, most likely due to a language barrier. If you are referring to this article: Volkan Konak, then I am requesting deletion because it does not assert why this person is notable. Saying "this person is a singer" denotes notability about as much as saying "this person is a human"; the article does not discuss why he is more notable than any other person on the planet. See WP:BAND for guidelines on the inclusion of musical artists. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 08:08, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

I deleted that one sentence because it already mentioned that earlier in the article. It is unnecessary to repeat it. Yonskii (talk) 03:13, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- That would be the lead, which is meant to summarize the whole article. To be in the lead, it has to be mentioned in the article body, where it is. I apologize for assuming vandalism, but that fact has been blanked quite often from the article, as people disagree with it, even though it is cited. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 03:15, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- Even though it is cited, it doesnt really need to be there. Its redundant. If it is mentioned in the first paragraph it unless there was more information to expand upon it, but its just one sentence. No need for it. Yonskii (talk) 03:26, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- It is NOT redundant; see WP:LEAD. All information in the lead is supposed to be stated again somewhere else in the article. I only cited it in the lead as well because some consider it contentious material. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 03:28, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it is quite redundant. Not everything in the article needs to be mentioned in the lead either. Most articles are not like that. And the world isnt coming to an end. Go figure. Yonskii (talk) 03:31, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- I merely meant to include a relevant summary in the lead. If you feel it is not necessary in the lead, I would not object to it being removed there. My point is that you can't remove it from the article body and leave it in the lead. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 03:37, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

article needs inline citations
Hey, i agree with your edit summary for this edit of Wayne Grayson article, that the article needs inline citations. However, to convey that, please use {{nofootnotes}}, or if there is one or two footnotes and more are needed use {{morefootnotes}}. You used {{BLP unreferenced}}, which means there are no sources whatsoever, and that incorrectly put the article into the big BLP unreferenced issue (wikipedia has been criticized for having many thousands of completely unsourced articles; I and others are working to reduce the number). I am removing that tag now. Thanks! --Lvklock (talk) 11:54, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for removing that one. I've binned it, but did you notice that it was a copy-paste of the Google translation of the Japanese Wikipedia article about her?[2] Google Translation of Japanese pop culture is normally disastrous, which is why I've not tried to save the article. Fences&Windows 19:46, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Am I the one who placed the PROD tag on the article? I don't remember doing it, but I often new page patrol, so not remembering such an event is hardly surprising. I would try my hand at translating the Japanese article, but since the Japanese Wikipedia rarely ever has any references on it, I don't think it will make much of a difference. - I know, I was surprised to find a referenced article too. Japanese Wikipedia is normally chock full of unreferenced articles on computer game music composers. I wasn't sure how reliable the referencing was, and was amused to see in one gossipy news story about her a note that she has type A blood. Does their press regularly report on the blood type of Japanese pop starlets? Fences&Windows 00:59, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- To finally answer, people tend to care about that a lot more in Japan. See the article Blood types in Japanese culture. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 15:30, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Fascinating! This is why I love Wikipedia: if I'd just thought to search it I'd have answered my own question. Fences&Windows 16:14, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Parthian Empire; and your first FA
Hi Scapler! Yeah, I think I saw your nomination for List of characters in the Uncharted series a few days before it passed, but I didn't comment on it since I had no idea what to say! Lol. The game itself seems pretty bad-ass though; I think my friend Khoi has played it before. Congratulations on your very first FA article! You clearly poured a lot of time and effort into it.
Thanks once again for helping me with Parthian Empire. The prose certainly needed a thorough rinsing and scrubbing. I believe I'm getting better at writing prose in general, though, especially after reading User:Tony1/How to improve your writing.
Unlike the first time you've had sex, you will not feel especially different after your first FA on Wikipedia (lol). At least from my own experience! However, you may feel confident in the fact that you are now part of the elite community of quality contributors to this encyclopedia, a band of brothers following the editor's code of glory, victory, and anal retentive determination. Three cheers and many more beers for Scapler!--Pericles of AthensTalk 14:51, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Actually it is a featured list; that being said, it is on the level of a FA, but consensus on the video game wikiproject is that such character articles should be nominated as FLs and not FAs. And yes, the game is amazing, one of the best I have ever played. When I saw the horrible condition the character article was in, I could not just stand by and let it happen. Thank you for the congrats. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 04:21, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Darden
I honestly thought my question was going to be perfunctory, but apparently not. Anything you can add to help?--SPhilbrickT 01:43, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to throw a wrench in your plans. Scalper, I notice you've replaced the image at Thomas Darden with a group photo that includes Darden. If you can identify which officer in the rear row is Darden (perhaps by comparing to the image from americansamoa.gov), I'd be happy to create a cropped version of the image that is just a head-shot of Darden that you can use in the Thomas Darden article. —RP88 03:36, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I am not angry in the slightest; I applaud your necessity to make sure that copyright is correct in articles. Unfortunately, though I have narrowed it down to two, I cannot completely identify which person is Darden. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 04:04, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
