Invitation to WikiProject Breakfast

Hello, Bearian.

You are invited to join WikiProject Breakfast, a WikiProject and resource dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of breakfast-related topics.

To join the project, just add your name to the member list. Northamerica1000(talk) 18:37, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Adam Baldwin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Baldwin brothers (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 14:12, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

No, it was an intentional link to Baldwin_brothers#Acting. Bearian (talk) 15:41, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

My dear talk page watchers

I have not been getting a lot of Wikilove lately. First, I was accused of illegally shortening Pope Francis's name. Then I became part of an Evil Cabal interested in a Witch hunt at Jimbo's talk page; even after I explained my perfectly pure motives, I got guff for not reverting vandalism that existed for exactly 18 months before I was elected a sysop. I've also been accused of being Kirsten Gillibrand's attorney or alter ego, or alternately, a mean old man. I think it may be time to go back to WP:RFA for a recall. What do you all think? Bearian (talk) 23:06, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Seal of Official Acknowledgement

Seal of Official Acknowledgement

This is the Seal of Official Acknowledgement of The Esoteric Wikipedia Cabal. The Seal is definitive proof that, as from the date appended to the Seal, you have been Cleansed of all Suspicions of being Apprentice to the Evil Witchhunter. A Special Fire Ritual has been conducted on your behalf which has purified All Links with your Activities on Wikipedia, and these have been freed from Nefariousness as far as your particular personhood is concerned. The Ritual has also conferred upon you the ability to continue associating with Vile Presences on Wikipedia without being Tainted. – Secret Inquisitor of the The Esoteric Wikipedia Cabal 06:06, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

The Cabal does not have the power to absolve you from illegally shortening Pope Francis's name, and we advise that you should most urgently appeal to a higher authority.

Clearing something up

You seem to be under the mistaken impression that I ever had an issue with the Kirsten Gillibrand article. I’m not sure if you just read the discussion wrong or what, but I neither had a problem with the page nor with you. It’s obvious from this comment that you thought I was the one complaining about her Mandarin abilities, among other things. Look again. That wasn’t me. Nor did I complain about sources, undue weight, POV, or anything else for that matter. I didn’t ask anyone to do anything. In fact, I’m the guy who reviewed the article and promoted it to GA status back in October.[1] The only thing I took exception to was Haberstr’s rant. And, now, your confusion.

I’ve made a visual aid for you. It’s still a bit complicated, what with having to match the numbers and everything, but I color coded the sections so if you view it at full magnification hopefully that will help. Kafziel Complaint Department: Please take a number 17:30, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

OK, now I understand why you gave me pushback. So why did User:Haberstr give me pushback? Bearian (talk) 18:06, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Never mind. Nothing to see here, folks, nothing to see. Bearian (talk) 18:08, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Completely understandable. The discussion thread is all out of whack because Haberstr keeps moving parts of the discussion around to insert replies in different spots. To make matters worse, there was a crazy flurry of (mostly) unrelated stuff on the article itself, just as the conversation was getting going. Mayhem and madness! Anyway, no harm done, I just wanted to set the record straight. Cheers! Kafziel Complaint Department: Please take a number 18:17, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for welcoming me

I forgot my details to my old account, so I'm not new, but thanks for welcoming me anyways. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Giggybyte1 (talkcontribs) 20:40, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Energy law

Thanks for following me on Twitter. I'll reciprocate. As for Energy law, I'm interested in expanding it with data on Quebec, however it'll have to wait for a few weeks. I entered the March-April 2013 frwiki Wikicontest with two fellow editors and I'll try to focus on these articles until the April 30 deadline (although I spent the last week fixing up an article on an obscure military radio station in France, which suddenly became top priority on fr for some reason). Feature Article

Bearian, alcohol laws of New Jersey was made a feature article. Thank you for your help. We are petitioning to have it placed on the main page for a day - Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests. DavidinNJ (talk) 12:37, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

AfDs

Hello. Since you participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2012 Buffalo State Bengals football team, I would like to inform you that two articles have been renominated. If you are interested, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2008 Buffalo State Bengals football team (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2007 St. Norbert Green Knights football team (2nd nomination). Best, Edge3 (talk) 14:56, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, but I am staying out of those debates. Bearian (talk) 15:43, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
No problem. I just wanted to ensure that all of the participants in the first debate were well informed. I am writing only to let you know that subsequent AfD nominations are posted at:

Hi

You might want to look at the above "London Gazeteer". The official government publications include a lot of information, for example military officer's careers from commissioning, awards of all honours, even those that are relatively minor. I know people who are military officers who are mentioned, a couple of others who have MBEs, etc. however, yes, CBE, Who's Who and The Times Obituary all indicate notability. Thanks for the clarification. Bearian (talk) 18:03, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks for the barnstar you gave me for my work on The Blue Nile, that's very kind of you... just trying to improve the odd article here and there. Currently trying to go through and improve one by one various articles on early 1980s post-punk/new wave bands and their albums (I realise the Blue Nile don't fit either of these descriptions...) - most of these articles are in very poor condition, even those relating to well known and popular records. Thanks again. Richard3120 (talk) 21:23, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Unblock on hold

Hello, Bearian. There is an unblock request at User talk:Ixistant, relating to an IP block you placed back in December 2012: see the block log for 134.36.154.191. Is there any objection to changing the block to anon-only, so that the account can edit? I can't see anything in the editing history that might require logged-in editing to be blocked, but I thought it better to check with you, in case there are circumstances I don't know about. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:01, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

After writing the above message, I found this edit, which seems to imply that you intended the block to be anon-only, so I will go ahead and make the change. If I am wrong then please change it back and let me know. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:05, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that is correct -- I only meant to block anon IP users from that University. Bearian (talk) 15:44, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

A cupcake for you!

Pages

Hi, I noticed that you aptly added the carpenter image to the unknown years page. I recently cleaned that page up, added refs, etc. And added items like this elsewhere which had been missing those key pieces of information for 7 years now... go figure. But my time is up next week. So if you could keep an eye on these two pages, and the args from silence page that you commented on before, it will be very nice of you. The args from silence page had seen puppetry, so it may need a little attention once in a while. Thanks, and best wishes for all your future Wiki-activities.
