The Magic Pudding is another Australian novel that is available free online at Project Gutenburg. So its' article may be worth a look.
It is missing a fair-use image of the cover art - although, when first relaeased it would not have had any such thing.
One thing to not for Robbery is that it was first released as a serial, I don't know if it was changed much when released as a novel - in the first novel release it was in three volumes is the extent of my knowledge.Garrie10:19, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This page is not in any categories. It is always a good idea to use categories to link new articles to other similar articles, and to prevent the article from being tagged as an orpan.
If you have access to reviews for his writing, then everything you are saying about the meaning and plot of his work should be cited. And if you have references for his scriptwriting with the BBC, cite that as well.
PS. Categories are just "tacked on" at the bottom of the page, don't put them in a seperate section (just edit the "References" section and put them in there at the end). Make sure you use the pipe feature so he shows up in lists sorted by his surname, like this: [[Category:English drama|Boardman-Jacobs, Sam]].Garrie03:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All you really need is a small sentence "X is openly gay" and add a citation for it. I can't find anything in immediate reach, but as someone who I'm sure must know quite a bit about him, I'm sure you can. I'm willing to adopt you. I lived in Kyneton around the turn of the century.
The article Indigenous Australians has all the content it needs, possible more then necessary. It's really at the end stage now just needing a little nudge to get to Featured articlestandards. What the article needs is copy editing(spelling, grammer, wikifying and layout), adding/cleaning up of citations for various sections/statement, linking to associated articles and sense checking of stats against sources. Doesnt really matter it's still in user space. Normally when sections disappears its because you left a reference open you had <ref/> instead of </ref>. I also added reference tag to the reference section you see that all the sources now appear but they need to be formatted so that they can be read see WP:CITE for details on layout. Also trivia sections are disliked, generally if the information is important enough to be included in the article then do using prose in a specific section.
Another point is that the lead should be a summary of the article, such that any fact in the lead is expanded upon in the main text of the article. Books movies etc normally include a section on critics both at time of publishing and at various releases, even more so when its historically acclaimed like this is. I have added a single reference to a copy I have seen as a basis for a full reference section. I have also rationised the footnotes as you suggested. It is possible for some paper based repeated footnoting to perhaps make use of a "reference" entry to the work with footnotes making use of this with specific page numbers. Hey the oz lit main page was for a while appropriated by some jerk who thought oral poetry was the central aspect of oz lit. Amongst some eds - they are either historically or geographically challenged to the point of embarrsment. I suppose my suggestion is to start with the new project- and when it gets too big break out into other things- rather than the other way around. So we need the start - there are hundreds of oz poets and novelists who simply are stubs or not even there - either by state, or by era - my teenagers are computer obsessed - and i thats any indication theres a whole generation of australians who are doomed to have their cultural history lost if things like this wikipedia project dosnt inject a sense of curiosity in users of wikipedia - which is why I say more power to the oz lit project and lets get on with it! and scuse late night ramblings - cheers SatuSuro13:52, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that you listen to the advice of User:SatuSuro who just started WP:NTA and also seek out advice from User:cj. I certainly agree with your caution. However these issues of "only Plot" and "too much plot", and "in-universe" and "tone" are a general blight here and the volume of the problem is immense.
I would use {{tone}}, {{plot}} and occasionally {{advert}} if that is too blatant.
Then I would try and get your "Australian literature" group up and running and see if you can gather a few editors to focus on the national prose article collection.
Why I say this is the original editors seem often unwilling, unable or just plain "gone" and will never return to their work. It seems more productive to gather others to improve the articles. We can establish a Novels task force to support this initiative and hopefully we can focus some effort. If I knew some of the works I would feel more able to contribute more myself.
Given the way you are adding {{plot}} I'm not sure it is the most appropriate. The template says quite a bit about "plot" length and you are adding it the article that sometimes bearly have more than a couple fo sentences. Australian Literature Project - Science Fiction & Fantasy

I found that you have to add literature=yes as lit=yes didnt seem to work for me. Most articles are need of Info Boxs too. You're right, copyright has expired on photos taken in Australia before 1955. Many libraries and repositories mislead the public by leaving contradictory notices on their websites. Whether it's deliberate or laziness in fixing the website I'm not sure, but either way, its safe to just ignore. —Moondyne15:43, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Brothers Karamazov (nom.) was demoted from Featured Article status for concerns over sources, structure, and coverage/focus.
The 2007 Wikipedia Selection for schools, targeted around the UK National Curriculum, included 39 novels. Volunteers at Wikipedia had suggested articles considered valuable and relevant for inclusion. See here and the WP Signpost news.

Shantaram to marry PrincessGregory David Roberts, author of Shantaram, a reformed Australian convicted armed robber has just announced his engagement to Princess Francoise Sturdza of Switzerland, who he plans to marry soon. His life has changed dramatically for the best after the release of his first novel four years ago, which depicted his life in India after escaping from prison. A movie based on his novel is planned for production later this year, starring Johnny Depp in the lead role. [1]
Shannara series purchased by Warner Bros
The film rights to The Shannara Series by Terry Brooks have been picked up by Warner Bros. They plan to first develop The Elfstones of Shannara, the second book in the series as the opening movie and writers are now being sought for the adaptation. The first book The Sword of Shannara, was published in 1977 and was the first fantasy book to reach, and then top, the New York Times Best Seller list.

What is a novel? What are the elements that must be found in any piece of writing for it to be considered a novel? I think it fair to say that traditional definitions of the word “novel” work along these lines: A novel is a fictitious prose story of book length. In my view, a novel has six basic elements: 1) It must have a society of characters; 2) They must be undergoing transformations; 3) And those must be in the course of a sustained prose narrative; 4) The sustained prose narrative must be impelled by a plot; 5) And it must be unified by clearly discernible central themes; 6) And to the extent possible, it must be universalised by a complex architecture of allegorical and symbolical sub-strata. If I write those six basic elements into a single definition, I come up with this: A novel is a society of characters, undergoing transformations, in the course of a sustained prose narrative, which is impelled by a plot, unified by clearly discernible central themes, and universalised by a complex architecture of allegorical and symbolical sub-strata.

Our tagged articles now number over 14,000 and more are being added every day. In reality the article count for our project scope is likely to be much higher so the more who can get involved and assist the process of improving the quality of the articles the better.

Task force news
The Fantasy task force has got off to a really good start with now 13 members. Do cooperate one with another and make it really work for us.
If any group of editors sees a need for a new "task force" then let us know. Also we can link a WikiProject in as a task force (as Australian task force), this has the benefit of reducing the level of effort dissipation and also advertising interest areas in more than one location.
Some discussion is going on about the "Activation of Members". To which end a "clearing house" of jobs and volunteers is being trialled at Novels Job Centre. Have a look and see what you think.

The Novels WikiProject Newsletter - Issue XX - January 2008
During 2007 we have seen membership grow from just below 200 to just below 300. Also our tagged article count now runs at about 16,000 considerably up on this time last year. It highlights the message given from last year that there is much work to do improving and caring for this corner of our "wikiworld". Sadly our Auto-list editor moved on and we sorely need an able replacement. On a more positive note we have seen the establishment of task forces, style guidelines and peer review. Our latest outreach initiative is the Novels Job Centre.

We have had a solid month with an increase of project tagging work. We now have a bit of a backlog of assessments needed.
Member news
The project has currently 305 members, 6 joined & 0 leavers since the start of January 2008.
The member page has been reorganized with it being noted that many member are largely inactive. However this is not unusual for WikiProjects and we have a very loyal core of editors who work diligently away often without recognition.
Other news
Many book cover images were tagged for deletion because of missing or incorrect fair use rationales in January. Several notes on this subject were placed on the General Forum.

Although Aust Lit is not my forte, I noticed recently a glaring hole on Wikipedia: the absence of an article on Joanna Murray-Smith.
While researching her, I noticed that you did already some considerable work. It's too late in the day now (midnight), but I will place the material I have so far onto my userpage tomorrow or Tuesday, so you can have a look at it. Maybe we can launch some kind of co-operation on this.
On the other hand, it seems to me that you might no longer be all that active here anymore, in which case I will just pinch your work :-)

Hello, I am a school librarian in my ‘real life’ and so I use Wikipedia a lot with students ageing from twelve to eighteen. While helping students research various topics I’ve run across many holes in Wikipedia that need to be filled so I created an account and began editing pieces. I’m taking a break from teaching for a few years while I raise two boys of my own, so I created a personal account a couple months ago and am focusing on editing articles on literature as well as the upper Midwest area of the United States and theatre. I enjoy all forms of literature but most often read fantasy and mystery. I am an occasional editor with no intent to run for any post; instead, I look at one or two articles a month that need help and do what I can. My public library system allows home access to a number of academic and professional databases, which is where I find most of my sources. Finally, I am currently working on filling in some of the red links on the Newbery Medal page and then hope to turn the stubs into full articles. Anyone want to help? I'd be interested in starting a Award Winners workgroup. I am also active in the WikiProject Biography and in the Children and Young Adult Literature WikiProject. They all have areas of focus that compliment each other and my interests.
I was approached after the last newsletter by somebody who wanted to reach out to some of the readers, so here we are – Alan16(talk).
Hi all, the Sword of Truth Task Force is restarting to clean up the articles related to Terry Goodkind's books and there adaptations. With the new TV series, The Legend of the Seeker, the books and the TV show are getting more critical attention, which means more real world material to document this great series of book. I would love to have other's help, as I have only just recently joined to find no other active members. The other members, as listed, have mostly left Wikipedia or removed themselves from the task force. If you are interested I would love to talk at the forum: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sword of Truth/General Forum, or send me a message. Hope to talk to some of you soon, SADADS (talk).

A new Military fiction task force has been recently created by SADADS. The group focuses on military fiction that is not primarily associated with fantasy and science-fiction, and is calling for users to help support the integration of the Military fiction task force, including template development, tagging, and assesment. Anyone interested in joining can sign up here.
Hello all. As you're probably aware this is the first newsletter since August. I had hoped that although I was unable to write one for the ensuing months, somebody would have picked it up, but that was sadly not to be. However I am back, and that should hopefully mean a new newsletter every month, like it used to be. There has been a lot of work done on novel related articles in my absence, however the project does not appeared to have progressed very much, which I'm sure you would all agree, is a shame as it holds such promise for Wikipedia. But with the new year approaching I am hoping that things will turn around, so I urge you all to get involved with the project in whatever way you can, and help it achieve its full potential. All that's left for me now is to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

There have been no novels nominated at the Collaboration department for the past few months, so this months collaboration will remain: The Sound and the Fury.
