The article Roy Clinton (“Bud”) Johns, Jr. has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. We have been gathering information and are now ready to edit. Could this be restored please? Assistant75 (talk) 15:46, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Roy Clinton (“Bud”) Johns, Jr. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable individual lacking support to establish notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. reddogsix (talk) 00:59, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Assistant75, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

a cautious welcome

[edit]

Hi. A word of advice. It would have been wiser to begin your editing career by editing a series of existing articles on topics about which you know something, adding properly sourced information to articles like Ride and Tie that need better sourcing, as a way of beginning to understand how an encyclopedia article should be written and what kinds of sources are acceptable. You should also try making improvement to bio articles, starting with existing pages about people whose work you know and admire. This is the best way to prepare yourself to begin writing articles. In re: Bud Johns, the sole useful thing you can now do is to bring to the page some blue chip sources, articles in WP:RS that detail unsourced, or inadequately sourced sections of text. Also, you might track down a working link that college alumni association bio of Johns, such sources are regarded as reliable sources on the facts of an individual's career and life, but the link on the page does not lead to the article. That said, I hope that you will stick around and help build this encyclopedia. It is not at all unusual for an editor to have a rocky start here, you just have to climb back into the saddle and learn to edit properly. It is usually best to edit on topics that you know something about, but not on the pages of individuals or institutions with which you are personally involved. Cheers, and welcome aboard.E.M.Gregory (talk) 11:40, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
