Thank you

[edit]
Thanks for the compliment Seadog, I'm glad you like my page. I think it doesn't look as messy now when you open it, because of the "T - 10 seconds and counting..." box. Did you notice the quote and signature subpages? I copied them from your page. I'm glad you like Aesop's Fables as well; I recently found a good book on that, most of the others weren't as good. Thanks for stopping by, and see you soon. | AndonicO Talk 21:40, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and thanks for leaving your signature. I hadn't noticed. | AndonicO Talk 21:52, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
One second there wasn't any quote, the next, there was. Thank you, and no, I don't mind that it's Hindu. I'll copy your on/off line idea later (~10 mins.). You are right about the userboxes; I began to think that they were annoying about 3 weeks ago; I put them in subpages only about 2 weeks ago though. Still, I had put a couple of useful links on my "This user likes most of these colors/colours." and "This user likes to check his edits here [1] here, [2], and/or [3]". Now I have to click twice to get to the links. :-) | AndonicO Talk 22:09, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Almost forgot to say thank you about the languages. Sorry! | AndonicO Talk 22:11, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Seadog, I was wondering about your quote, what does "ath" mean? Oh, and could you please sign it, so I know who put it there? I have terrible memory. :-) | AndonicO Talk 23:48, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for warning me; I rarely do that. | AndonicO Talk 23:57, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What's the editorial review? (should I know?) | AndonicO Talk 00:22, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, but I don't think I could even think about being an administrator yet, because I have more edits to my userpage than to mainspace. Also, I reverted some wierd changes; I changed it to the old version because I didn't think you wanted Sodom on your userpage. (Probably vandalism) | AndonicO Talk 00:36, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, you've been getting a lot of vandalism lately. | AndonicO Talk 00:41, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If I am a kid, it's too late, if you get my drift. | AndonicO Talk 00:53, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've never been vandalized. And to think that I've been around longer. | AndonicO Talk 01:00, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thanks for the information! I had already gotten a little bored of editing once on the first link of each article; this is a Godsend (not that you're God, I'm just saying). I'll try that tomorrow; I'm about to retire from Wikipedia for today, after about 4 hours (besides my Anti-spyware scan is turning on and this computer is getting slow). Thanks again! | AndonicO Talk 01:16, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vishnu

[edit]

Yes, indeed, Arjuna. That looks like Vishnu. Om namo Narayanaya! (Namo= salutations. Narayana=to Narayana. Narayana is a name of Vishnu).HeBhagawan 23:40, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case you decide to have people call you by that name in real life, here's something you might like to know: The traditional Sanskrit name is Arjuna, but the modern version is Arjun. Both are correct, but nowadays if you meet somebody with that name it will usually be spelled and pronounced Arjun. But it can go either way. HeBhagawan 00:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Arjun.

[edit]

4/11/06.

Suprabhatam.

Thank you so much Arjun for your concern and warmth.

What you think, should have been honest thinking of HeBhagawan.

Yesterday late noon, I had seen communication between you two. It's a pity that people get carried away.

When people work together in the interest of the cause, it is team but when people work with mean attitude, the same team becomes a coterie. (Don't mis-understand me, I am not involving you. I am just trying to distinguish between a team and coterie).

I have grey hairs on my head and I can differentiate between the gimmicks and bonafides.

Through out my life, I am destined to deal with un-ethical people and I always march ahead for a cause. In the process, friction generate. I always introspect whether I am sticking to my cause or not?

I am quiet observant and I know that HeBhagawan dared to shoot incivility at me looking at my poor user page and Indian name.

He has never been incivil to other westerners who have edited in similar way. He knew that I have knowledge of Hinduism so if allowed, I may come in the way of his taking credit. He resorted to politics.

He holds undue possessiveness for the article. It's not for no reason. It's for getting a pat and gaining weight as a Wikipedian. Once, you gain weight you get more powers and tools which in turn helps to promote one's theory.

Apandey is no one else than HeBhagawan. He uses his in-decent comments in Apandey's name. I had suggested him not to support Apandey as it was increasing edit wars and unpleasantness. What is the contribution of Apandey in Hinduism that permit him to jump on talk pages and shoot incivility? Yesterday or day before, HeBhagawan gave Apandey awards for contribution to Hinduism and exhibiting patience. He invited Apandey to participate in discussion when I already have suggested him to keep Apandey out.

Mr.Chris jumped in a discussion followed by ill propaganda against me to admins. What is his contribution to Hinduism?

One Ramramji registered on a day, supported Apandey against me on talk page of Hinduism and vanished for ever.

When liberty is granted, one has to be more responsible and decent. I could also go to some cyber-cafe and shoot incivility and support myself but I have controlled such evil desire.

For me, this should be my journey to sublimate my mind and intellect and not to add to my dung of numerous previous births.

HeBhagawan awarded barnstars to Chrislk2 for recent one rv edit and Sfacets for reverting my one edit. When one does so, one makes oneself object of mockery.

From beneath of my heart, I am greatful to Wikipedia Foundation for providing a platform to impart knowledge to world at large. The platform should be used with great deal of responsibility and honesty.

What me, you or HeBhagawan on this platform are, a time bound tiniest part of contributors of information or knowledge. We forget the reality and think ourselves to be masters of this magnificent platform. We spoil this platform by our dung carried from previous births. Sorry to use harsh and indecent words but it shall be helpful in shedding the vainglory and meanness of ours.

Today, I have already shot bullet out of barrel. Nothing on Wikipedia is confidential. Yesterday, HeBhagawan distributes awards and chocolates to win hearts and create a lobby against me. At the end, he sends me an olive branch. I can't be convinced of it not being fox talk.

With due apology to give my mind.

Jay Shree Krishna.

Swadhyayee 01:41, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your warmth. I know...

[edit]

let him know exactly how you feel about his actions. Tell him the exact same thing as you told him. I hope you don't think of me in a bad maner, I am trying me honest best I can. I really hope that you two can get this probablem worked out.

He knows how I feel. No, certainly Arjun, I am having regards for your humanly approach to the situation. I don't think, HeBhagawan can change overnight.

I know, if we two have to work together on Wikipedia, we have to work out solution. Compromise at the cost of connotations of Hinduism is just impossible for me. I am definitely going to observe that ego problems do not develop in me.

Thanks again Arjun.

I will, it will take few days to heal the wound.

[edit]

I will, it will take few days to heal the wound. I can send peace message when I am at peace and truly mean it. I don't like to do it when I don't mean. Swadhyayee 02:15, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No question of my leaving Hinduism. No I don't have a sock-puppet.

[edit]

No question of my leaving Hinduism. It's acceptance of defeat which Krishna has asked not to prefer over lossing war. Here, it is no war. HeBhagawan is on spiritual sublimation. I will be instrumental in shedding his hurdles. I want to do justice to the cause of giving best connotations of Hinduism.

I don't have a sock-puppet as of now. I just edited his page as it was blank.

Swadhyayee 02:27, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arjun

[edit]

The way I created my archive was by following the procedures on this page, [[4]]but calling it an archive. Somehow it worked.

As for Swadhyayee, thank you for trying to be a peacemaker. I'm honestly not sure what else I can do to work things out with him, but if you can think of anything I haven't tried, please let me know. As you may have noticed, my interest is in making good articles; I'm not interested in fighting. You may have noticed that often I even decline to defend myself when attacked simply in order to avoid escalating the tension. In any case what am I supposed to say to allegations that I am a sock puppet, that I dislike his userpage or nationality, or that I am giving awards to people he doesn't like? It's better sometimes to just not fight back. I try to take the approach of Gandhi ji and just be peaceful myself, and let the aggression stand alone, so that there will be no question about whether I myself am part of the problem. There is a saying in Sanskrit, "satyam eva jayate", truth alone prevails. One can't solve problems by sniping, so I don't try.

I expect everybody, including myself, to be held accountable to Wikipedia's well-thought-out rules regarding civility, quality, and community effort. I find that if I just do the right thing, working cooperatively with a commitment to quality, other users will notice, and they also notice when somebody is being unreasonable. I also hope they will tell me if I am ever being unreasonable myself, since I consider it a strength--not a weakness--to listen to others' criticism. Swadhyayee would like to incorporate a large number of edits into the Hinduism page that pretty much everyone disagrees with. I really sympathize with his desire to make the article better. I've even helped him fix the quality of his edits several times and found citations for them so that the article could include the things he wanted to say.

But he wants to say a lot, and he wants to say them his way. It's rather difficult to choose between (1) making somebody happy by letting them incorporate clearly inadvisable edits (I can't think of any nicer way to refer to them, or I would), and (2) having a high quality article. When there are disputes over edits, I'm always willing to defer to the two golden rules: verifiable citations and community concensus. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Jai Shri Ram.HeBhagawan 05:30, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear HeBhagawan,

Be at peace. Fumes are getting over hourly. If you take a friendly advise,

1) First make relations and then try to change.

2) Don't assume or change the meaning of other's, like: I don't like your giving awards to people I don't like. There is hardly any one whom I don't like. The dislike if ever exist, it is temporary till the differences continue. My view is, you are trying to lobbying by giving awards to people who revert even my single edit. Just, think of your award to Apandey and compare it with my criticism. My view is you make awards cheap and place yourself in laughable situation if you send awards without hard work. Your giving awards for people doing one edit on Hinduism tend me to think that you assume proprietorship of Hinduism. Ask your conscience, don't you award to the people who revert my edits. I have checked other edits and also checked whether they got awards?

3) Time being forget about assuming guardianship to maintain Wikipedia rules. Wikipedia rules if broken for a day or few don't cause that much of damage as against loss of peace and relationship.

4) Pl. don't bother about other editors finding my edits improper or their disagreement. Let others come and say but don't invite them to come and say against me. Exhibit patience and allow article to remain as it is. Yes, if I change, I might have to discuss but you could also discuss before reverting and place your views on talk page.

5) If you take some rest and introspect you have been too attached to this article. It's natural, one is bound to get attached to one's creation. Never be hungry for people's appreciation; Think what God has to say for you and your work. Even, if the article is complete, someone may walk in and ridiculously change it. It will add to your agony if you attach yourself to this article. No one ever gets 100% results of one's effort. If one get 50 to 60%, one should be contended and happy about the results. You see this work as an opportunity to change yourself. In my hate and love relationship with you, hate is going to go fast and love is going to remain for ever.

6) Treat this piece of suggestion as my olive branch to you. This is best I could do or say at the moment.

Swadhyayee 06:16, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much.

[edit]

Thank you so much for fixing talk page link on my user page.

How kind you are to me today? I think, today, I am blessed by Yogeshwar.

I wish, block letters of my Mantra and quote be removed and be put in colour ink. If you know, could you kindly do it for me?

Swadhyayee 05:51, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One suggestion.

[edit]

With your permission, I suggest that you create a different page with name "Arjun" and re-direct your present 'Seadog" page to "Arjun" not to miss messages.

You may see my communication with HeBhagawan on your talk page, on his talk page and Hinduism talk page.

I want to see he is detached from the article. It's spiritual upliftment and ethical - Wikipedia being free software.

[edit]

Thank you so much Arjun. If, I may say in fun, we have a proverb, you should not check the teeth of cow got in charity.

I felt the colour is too bright so I tried to change it to colour teal, it did not work. I tried to make it "gray", it didn't work. I tried to remove block letters so the brightness reduce, it also did not work. Why so?

Swadhyayee 13:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very Good.

[edit]

It's very fine. You are never creating any problem. You make me embarrassed saying so. How could a helping person like you create problem?

Now, I am also able to change. The gray was difficult to read, so I changed it to colour teal.

In morning, I did not respond your offer as I wanted to learn to put colours to my page. I did check edit help but could not find right thing.

Checking your edits of my user page, I understand the commands.

I am in India and here it is 7.43am. Are you in morning zone or night zone?

Arjunbhai, Will you pl. see this? Aap Jara Dekhenge?

[edit]

How about shifting? Would it look better if Hinduism logo and links come on left hand side so as to fit the initial text on right side; allowing one section utilise entire breadth and than placing "contents" on right hand side to enable more breadth for the text? If so done the narrow format of "core concept" text would be changed and fit in to better breadth.

Swadhyayee 11:51, 4 November 2006 (UTC) I think the format is good now, but I do not have a strong opinion about it. Its current state is courtesy of Arjun, and nobody has made any negative comments about it so far, so I don't see any particular reason to change it. HeBhagawan 14:52, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

We can ask Arjun to try and see for a day. If, it looks better, we can retain it. To me, it seems the narrow coloumn like strip does not look good as also bottom lines are broader.

Well, you could add some numbers (eg Arjun108) or you could add another word to it. If you add another word, just tell me what type of word you want it to be. Or you could use another name of Arjun, such as Partha, but I'm guessing that somebody has already taken those. HeBhagawan 21:42, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's what I did. My username used to be mjg0503 but I changed it to Mike1. I was originally going to change it to simply Mike, but not suprisingly the name was taken. However, if Arjun does not have any contribs, the 'crats might make that change for you. If not, you can just do it the way I do -- make your username Arjun1 and sign your posts as Arjun :-). - Mike | Happy Thanksgiving 22:17, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hope that works out! If it doesn't, you can just tack on a number or two to the end as HeBhagawan has suggested. Good luck! - Mike | Happy Thanksgiving 22:31, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good Morning Arjun,

I wish that you keep on checking Hinduism talk page so that you remain updated and can take part as and when you feel so.

I don't believe that it is up to FAC standard. I wish that if you have time, you try to change the initial layout so the narrow coloum of writing go away and might look better. You are the judge for the same. What I feel is, if content box is brought down and text fitted to max. breadth, it might look better. Without trying and seeing, it's difficult to say. Can this content box not changed to horizontal which could reduce the height?

I am just suggesting you as you have done last layout with your will. You know how to do it too.

With Regards,

Epic movies

[edit]

If you are interested in learning more about the stories of Rama, Krishna, Arjuna and others, I can recommend the epic movies Ramayan and Mahabharat. They are extremely long, as are the original stories. They are older, and have low-tech special effects, but the stories and acting are excellent. They are a little expensive, but they will give you many hours of both education and enjoyment. The language is Hindi, but there are subtitles in English. There are other movies besides Ramayan and Mahabharat, but I can't speak as to the quality of those. Anyway, just thought I would mention it since I have gotten a lot of joy out of watching them. Here is the website I bought them from: [[5]]

Suprabhatam Arjun,

People in India speak Hindi than Sanskrit as I presume is due to 1) schools teaching Sanskrit died while Britishers invaded and ruled India depriving study of Sanskrit 2) It's a language of Northern states of India - U.P. and Delhi in particular who had major impact on politics of India 3) Sanskrit is very difficult 4) Hindi is very easy 5) Hindi is much similar to many other Indian regional languages i.e. Punjabi, Urdu or may be even Kashmiri and lastly 6) It's easy to learn to speak in Hindi than in other regional languages and so it has spreaded in India like a wild fire.

Just a caution, if you want to know true Hindu religion, movies might give you some disadvantage as they are commercial ventures and might project more of themes which need tricks of technology to make them good movies than imparting spiritual knowledge You can't get spiritual knowledge from movies. They might not add to your existing knowledge.

Anyone, knowing Geeta is knowing everything. It's said what is not existing in Geeta should be excluded from the knowledge as it is useless. Why don't you think of reading some good Hindi commentaries (if you know Hindi) on Geeta or reading Mahabharat, Bhagwat or Ramayan. You should read again and again Bhagawad Geeta as it would change you greatly - make you Bhakta that Krishna would like. If you want to see Hindi movies like Mahabharat, let me find out an easier and cheaper way. The catelogue HeBhagawan is showing seems to be very expensive. You may get CDs cheaper here. November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

You certainly weren't decieved. :P I don't really know what my favourites are, though, since I listen to almost everything on there all the time. India has many languages. Hindi is the official language, along with English. However, most people who speak English only speak it as a second language learned in school. Many people of the higher educated classes speak English. However, uneducated people, and those who live in the countryside (the majority of the population) speak other languages. Hindi is the biggest language, especially throughout northern India. It is a beautiful language too. It is harder to learn than a language like Spanish, but easier than something like Chinese. It's actually a distant relative of English, although you wouldn't know this at first.

Sanskrit is not really the mother tongue of anybody, but it is used used in religious contexts: in the scriptures, in religious songs, chanting, etc. If you want to go to one particular area in India, it is probably best to know the language of the particular place you are going to (eg. Bengali in Bengal, Tamil in Tamil Nadu). But if you are just going to travel around all over the place, Hindi is probably the best becasue it is so widespread. My mother tongue is English, like yours, but I learned Hindi and traveled all over India speaking it. It was a blast. Basically, if you want to learn a langauge for reading scriptures primarily, go for Sanskrit. If you want to learn one for talking to people (or watching movies) go with Hindi. Or do both like I did (first Hindi, then Sanskrit).HeBhagawan 01:03, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that person was probably a Shaiva (follower of Shiva), but not necessarily an exclusive follower of Shiva. Except for some narrow minded denominations, most Hindus worship shiva to some extent, even if their chosen ideal is something else, such as Durga (a form of the Divine Goddess) or Rama. Personally, if I know which deity a person worships primarily, I salute them in the form they will like best as a way to show respect for their chosen path. For example, if I know they are a Vaishnava, I might greet them with "Om namo narayanaya." For that matter, if they are Muslim, I might say Salaam alekum. I'm glad you liked my pictures and specially Iran. I got to mention something, you have the most amazing user page I've seen. Clean and perfectly organized. Good job!. --Arad 04:06, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Arjun, I just noticed that you had supported the picture I nominated. Thank you. I'm sorry I didn't notice before, but I didn't see the message on my watchlist. A lousy excuse, I know, but true. By the way, that picture was visually nice, but had blown highlights in the upper right corner (this means the lighting is bright white, it isn't really like that, and it looks bad). I can't believe I missed that, and it wasn't very enyclopedic either. When I started nominating pictures about a month ago, I didn't know anything about photograph exept that I liked it. Now, I know almost everything about photography, exept how to take a good picture. Thanks for supporting anyhow. :-) | AndonicO Talk 11:23, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, if you want to see a good photographer's userpage, here are a couple: Diliff, Fir0002. (Notice all those barnstars). | AndonicO Talk 11:27, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Swadhyayee got banned for spamming? I'd look over it but I don't know what to look over. I noticed he got in a conflict with some other editors at the India article, but I don't know whether he spammed them or not. Is it related to that? HeBhagawan 01:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

spam

[edit]

I see what you mean. He has a habit that when he posts a message in one place, he posts it in many other places as well, often without signing his name to them, so it looks like spam. It's not a good habit, but I never thought it got too much out of control. But I don't know--maybe he posted in many other places that I don't know about as well. He probably didn't know any better. They should at least have given him a warning before banning him. I do wish he wouldn't gear up for a major war every time he has a difference of opinion with somebody. On the Hinduism page, things were just starting to calm down and he was getting along with everybody better, so I am sad to see fights starting on other pages. HeBhagawan 01:48, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it looks like they did warn him, but maybe he still didn't understand. At least they gave him a chance to unblock himself by promising not to do it again. HeBhagawan 02:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC) I agree that one should be able to send messages to others. I think he might do better to target his messages more carefully in the future, and it would be good for him to sign them so they don't look like spam.HeBhagawan 02:26, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arjun, I put a note on Swadhyayee's talk page to cheer him up. He did cross the line, but probably didn't know the rules, and you know what a fighter he can be. Anyway, it might help him to hear some words of encouragement (not neccesarily approval for what he did) from his friends. Cheers. ॐ Priyanath 02:35, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
