Do you have or know of any pictures we can get for Turkey? I really did choose a hard one. But Turkey was so packed full with the pre and post race issues. Super Aguri, Rubens Barrichello 257th GP etc. Chubbennaitor 20:07, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Article of the month - 2008 Chinese Grand Prix, new Good Article
The 2008 Chinese Grand Prix (formally the V Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race held on October 19, 2008 at the Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai, China. It was the 17th and penultimate race of the 2008 Formula One season. The race, contested over 56 laps, was won by Lewis Hamilton for the McLaren team after starting from pole position. Ferrari driver Felipe Massa finished second, and Kimi Räikkönen was third in the other Ferrari. Hamilton, the eventual Drivers' Champion, led the Championship going into the race, and started from pole position alongside Räikkönen. Second in the Drivers' Championship, Massa began from third, next to Fernando Alonso of Renault. The first three drivers retained their positions into the first corner, but Alonso was passed by Hamilton's McLaren teammate Heikki Kovalainen. However, Alonso was able to regain the place midway through the first lap. Over the course of the race, Hamilton extended a considerable lead over the two Ferraris. Massa passed Räikkönen with seven laps remaining, to improve his chances of surpassing Hamilton's points tally at the final race in Brazil. The result extended Ferrari's lead over McLaren in the Constructors' Championship from seven to 11 points. Third-placed in the Drivers' Championship, Robert Kubica's sixth place at the Grand Prix eliminated his hopes of winning the Championship, and reduced his lead over fourth-placed Räikkönen to six points. Would you mind if I proposed this image as a replacement for the current WP:F1 logo, which is two years out-of-date, on the project talk page? It's always something that's bugged me.--Diniz(talk) 15:40, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I had another day dedicated to me before, in December. With regards to the portal, I believe it's rather too bold to remove lead image. Try find a digital checker-flag image on Commons and put it as lead image. OhanaUnitedTalk page 15:32, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- I'm just worried about "word-squeeze", which is the pictures on both sides squeeze the words in the middle and making it difficult to read. One image should suffice. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
2008 Bahrain Grand Prix
- Hi - I did some very minor changes to the above yesterday with the intention of making the introduction flow a little better as it was written in a very staccato style. I see that you have immediately reverted these edits and your edit summary reads 'tidy'! I'm just mystified as to how you see your actions as a 'tidy' and why you reverted my changes. Regards --Paste Let’s have a chat. 08:45, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Apterygial.
First, thanks very much for your PR. I have done all of the stuff you and AlexJ suggested apart from the post-race (I'll probably do that tomorrow, if not the next day!).
I am now ready for some more things to fix if you would like to tell me them. Thanks,

Sounds interesting; I'm definitely up for it! And only one week to go before I have access to the Autocourse again... ;)--Diniz(talk) 23:15, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- After a preliminary examination of the car articles, I have no idea which one I would like to improve, so I'll get back to you on that.--Diniz(talk) 23:19, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I tried to base the B-class Benetton B186 and Lola T93/30 articles loosely on those FAs when I wrote them. And it should indeed be a wholly different challenge from the race report articles.--Diniz(talk) 23:24, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the Williams FW30 article is already at a decent level, but to be honest I prefer to start off with the freedom of a 'blank sheet of canvas'. I'll let you know when I make my decision. And it may be a bit longer than a week on reflection, as I've realised that I've committed myself to a couple of other tasks, in addition to some personal projects I want to progress during the holiday. And there's also a draft article for the 107% rule that's been festering in my sandbox for a while... ;) --Diniz(talk) 23:29, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Ferrari numbers
I agree with your sentiment, and I was arguing to leave it alone as well. The thing is, when someone comes in and changes it, arguing in an aggressive fashion, you end up in a ridiculous argument. I maintain that any argument with Eightball is a ridiculous argument, but I'll not just walk away and let him make unencyclopedic edits. I'll assume you're joking about the president bit... enjoy the season :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:58, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Sigh
I came here to tell you I wouldn't edit it again because you asked nicely and that counts for something. I nearly changed my mind because of the smugness of the above comment, but be proud that your tact outweighed it. The thing is, someone who argues for not changing the numbers clearly does not know anything about F1, because it implies that Ferrari is taking a chassis, fitting it with Raikkonen's seat, his name on the side, and then deliberately giving it the wrong number. And then I get people telling me I'm being unencyclopedic. Whatever, at some point you have to realize that people already view everything they read on Wikipedia with a healthy dose of skepticism, a few more errors can't hurt...right? Enjoy the season. Eightball (talk) 05:54, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Insane Idea
I should be able to start work on the commitments I made earlier, after I've expanded the 1995 European Grand Prix article for D.M.N.. Would you prefer me to work on the Hungarian GP article first, or the car article (which I've decided will be the Renault R28)?--Diniz(talk) 19:20, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- I definitely plan on doing both, don't worry. :P I actually couldn't make my mind up on which one to do first, but I suppose that seeing if the 2008 car articles can be incorporated into the remit of the II is more important than "yet another" race report!--Diniz(talk) 23:01, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Hello again. (I've gone mad)
Just one little niggle. [1]
Brawn colour
Because Brawn uses a bright yellow, and that was a lime-toned green/yellow. In any case, the majority of Brawn's colourscheme is white. Pyrope 17:50, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- For the majority of team boxes the major colour is the background and the accent colours are used as the text colour. This isn't really feasible for Brawn as that yellow wouldn't make a good text colour. Pyrope 13:59, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Quick note
Just wanted to say that I am in no way denigrating all the work you and others do to get articles up to FA/GA standard - there's real skill involved in that and it's work that Wikipedia wants done. I'm just having my little moan ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:19, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've just read the FA review you mentioned... my god. There's no way I could have stuck through that, and my admiration for you FA-chasing editors has risen considerably. It strikes me that one or two editors, like Ling Nut, were just trying to be difficult, no? I think it's very hard to strike a balance between catering for the uninitiated while still trying to please the hardcore fans. When you think about it, no other publication has to do that - Autosport, for example, assumes a high level of prior knowledge, and even a daily newspaper assumes more prior knowledge than some Wiki editors would allow. It's an eye-opener for me, for sure! Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:55, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Article of the month - 2008 German Grand Prix, current Good Article Candidate.
The 2008 German Grand Prix (formally the LXVIII Großer Preis Santander von Deutschland) was a Formula One motor race held on July 20, 2008 at the Hockenheimring, Hockenheim, Germany. It was the 10th race of the 2008 Formula One season. The race, contested over 67 laps, was won by Lewis Hamilton for the McLaren team after starting from pole position. Nelson Piquet, Jr. finished second in a Renault car, with Felipe Massa third in a Ferrari. Hamilton maintained his startline advantage and led until he made his first pit stop on lap 18. As other cars made their pit stops, Hamilton regained the lead on lap 22. On lap 36 Timo Glock crashed, and the race was neutralized by the deployment of the safety car. Hamilton, on a two-stop strategy, did not stop to get more fuel during this period, while all the cars around him did. Thus when he did eventually stop on lap 50, he rejoined the race in fifth. In the closing stages of the race, Hamilton overtook first his team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, then Massa, and finally Piquet, to take the lead again on lap 60, which he maintained to win the race. The victory was Hamilton's second consecutive win, having won the preceding British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The win put him ahead of his two main rivals in the Drivers' Championship, Kimi Räikkönen (who finished sixth) and Massa of Ferrari, who were on equal points with him before the race. After the race he was four points ahead of Räikkönen, and seven ahead of Massa. In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren drew closer to the two teams ahead of them, BMW Sauber and Ferrari. Ferrari still led by 15 points from McLaren, and 12 from BMW, whose drivers – Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica – finished fourth and seventh respectively. - Thanks for the very kind comments. I'm not sure how to answer your question, other than to tell you that I didn't actually finish the review until last night, at which time I passed it. I could have put it on hold due to my suggestions (and I think this is where your question comes into play), but at that point, I didn't feel my suggestions were necessary to change the outcome; I just wanted to finish reviewing it. But, there are a few proposed changes I recommend taking a look at on the review page when you have some time. Thanks! Viriditas (talk) 20:10, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:2008 Spanish Grand Prix
I've taken a look at the article, made some minor edits, and left some suggestions on the talk page. Good luck with progressing it to GA/FA status!
I've also started work on expanding the Renault R28 article in my sandbox, so expect some more MII developments soon. ;) --Diniz(talk) 17:14, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
- No hurry; I won't take Forti any further until my summer holidays, which start in June. I head back to uni on Friday so I probably won't be able to complete a full draft of Renault R28, but I'll do as much as I can. Unfortunately I don't think I have the space to take last year's Autocourse and 18 or so issues of Autosport back with me, not to mention the distraction from exam term that they would cause!--Diniz(talk) 16:13, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry I haven't had time to do a detailed look over this. I've had a quick glance over it, and can't see anything obvious that would prevent it getting GA status. AlexJ (talk) 01:09, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Apterygial, In the references section of the 2008 Turkish Grand Prix, the article that I am now working on, there is some Autosport thing called "Massa Attack", cited as a publication. I can't read it, as you have to be subscribed to Autosport to read it. It is also not actually cited in the article. So, what do I do with it? Darth Newdar (talk) 20:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- I have now just realised that two refs cited just say "Hughes, pg. xx". They obviously refer to this ref, so I have now moved the "Massa Attack" thing, to reference those two. Sorted! Darth Newdar (talk) 15:01, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
