202.163.96.68 (talk) 09:59, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna, very soory if I have offended Wikipaedia rules but I cant understand why. In the 2006 ball tampering story above what I have added all quotes are given an dI hav eonly reported facts.

Please educate me on how I apply for 'vandalism' so i dont repeat this in future.

thank you

Sohaib

Maybe I should not have considered your edit vandalism, but as a general rule, you must provide reliable sources that back any controversial additions to articles. Before restoring your edit, please tell me the details of where (the newspaper or magazine or TV program) you read that, so that I can add it to the article. Regards, Anna Lincoln 10:17, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Why did you delete my pages ? they were important things and now i cant see them or read the amazing things i wrote —Preceding unsigned comment added by CogCogx (talkcontribs) 14:24, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

I nominated Tia thompson for deletion because, as said on your talk page, the person was not notable enough to deserve an article at Wikipedia. For more information read WP:BIO. Anna Lincoln 16:02, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

YOU HAVE ONE MINUTE TO EXPLAIN YOURSELF ON HOW I VANDALIZED A PAGE.

The left right paradigm is ACCURATE, not a conspiracy theory. EXPLAIN YOUR SELF!!!! 75.34.16.67 (talk) 08:53, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Please don't shout, there's no need to do so. To make such controversial edits, you should provide reliable sources that back your claims. Anna Lincoln 08:57, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Why are you not an admin?

I wonder why you're not an admin. Shadowjams (talk) 09:16, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks a lot for trusting me for the post. I realise that my main contributions are fighting vandalism, and that is not enough to become an admin. Article building, taking part in noticeboards, and such is expected. Cheers, Anna Lincoln 09:21, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
By the way, a few rollbackers I've sampled, tend to all have average edits per page around 1.5. Totally unscientific. Shadowjams (talk) 09:19, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Yep, that's what I mean. One should concentrate on some articles and raise them to FA/GA/DYK, therefore having more edits per article. Anna Lincoln 09:21, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately true. I worry that the RfA process has become political, and I don't think that's healthy in the long term. You and I tend to edit at the same time, so we see the same things, and the same problems. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. Shadowjams (talk) 09:31, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome :-) You appear a lot in my Huggle window. Anna Lincoln 09:39, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Urgent complain - Wikipedia

You've said that the edit I made is not constructive. How could you say that the article reverted (Criticism of Islam) back is constructive. The register, mood, and aim of the article reverted is distructive. You should take into account that nobody is allowed to make a criticising remark on anything and even with rubbish register of language.

Reply me and be direct to me and discuss this otherwise Wikipedia is gonna be fired. If the articles such this are to posted on here who'd trust primacy and validity of the content. Therefore for ensuring proved content on every website, it's primarily necessary to make some rules to be followed when publishing something.

This is urgent mail. I'm here online so get back to me. Faz kn (talk) 08:55, 3 February 2010 (UTC)faz_kn

Your attempts to blank or discredit the article "Criticism of Islamism" by "making it invalid" will not succeed because Wikipedia is not censored. If you have complaints about the article, state them on its talk page and discuss them with other users. Continuing to vandalize the article will make you get blocked. Anna Lincoln 08:58, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Urgent complain - Wikipedia

Answer given by you shows that you and whoever associated with WikipediaBold text don't care for the authenticity of the content displayed to the public. It's unfair and very disgusting that you folks are not taking this article or others linked to it directly or indirectly false. Give me your instant contact so that I could in detail talk to you. Because as memeber of your site, it's a right to ask you what the hell is going on. Faz kn (talk) 09:04, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

The criteria for adding content to Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. Wikipedia must show an approach to Islamism from a neutral point of view. This means that views from opponents and critics to Islamism must also be represented. If you don't like the article Criticism of Islamism, read Islamism for a positive description instead. I told you to give me your direct contact so that I could have a word on the article. It's very nice to see that you replied but the way you're going isn't appreciatable. How do I provide a citation about an Elvis impersonator?

You must give the details of a newspaper or magazine or TV program (or even a book) that talked about him. If you can't because he hasn't appeared in media, then probably the person is not notable (famous) enough to have an article here. Regards, Anna Lincoln 10:45, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Oh I see it's all clear to me now Wikipedia now decides who's famous and who's not. So Harold Shipman who alledgedly killed over 200 people would not be worthy of a mention here if Yorkshire television hadn't bumped into him on the street that day eh? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.169.133.114 (talk) 11:04, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that's more or less the idea. How would you know that he killed 200 if he wasn't cited by the TV? You can read Wikipedia:Verifiability and WP:BIO for more information. Anna Lincoln 11:08, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Well it wasn't actually the T.V. who gave the little nugget about him killing 200 people away... it was the police.

So if I provided a photograph of the said Elvis impersonator walking down the high street in Eston you'd have to put it on this page yes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.169.133.114 (talk) 11:15, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Whatever. No, it's not enough that you have a photo of him. The photo (and some text about him) must have been published by some reliable media. There can't be an article here about somebody who is not known at large by many people (which would be proved by his apparition in the media). Anna Lincoln 11:19, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

So let me get this right you don't actually deal with the truth unless its verifiable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.169.133.114 (talk) 11:22, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

You got it. The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. This is explained on WP:V. Anna Lincoln 11:24, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

So I could actually verify a pack of lies like the Hitler Diaries with citation from The Sunday Times and you'd have to include it as the truth. Strewth! its actually worse than I thought(80.169.133.114 (talk) 11:26, 3 February 2010 (UTC))

The Hitler diaries are not a valid source. They are primary sources. A reliable third-party secondary source is required. You can read WP:SECONDARY. Anna Lincoln 11:31, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Advice on Spain

Hi Anna

User:Poolfreak1 posted a question here (which I've removed). If you have any suggestions for a better place for them to obtain advice, please would you post it on their talk page? Cheers   pablohablo. 11:29, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Pablo. Unfortunately I cannot help with the question as I am unfamiliar with family law. I advised him on his talk page to call the police (phone number 112) who can redirect him to the pertinent government organism or social services where to ask his question. Best wishes, Anna Lincoln 11:37, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Good idea - I wasn't suggesting that you actually give any legal advice, just suggestions of places to go to get legal advice! Cheers   pablohablo. 11:51, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
I hope he calls and gets the advice. I know there is a minimum legal age in Spain to be able to consentleave home but I can't remember the exact age. Couldn't find anything at the wiki. See you, Anna Lincoln 11:55, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Pool (website)

Hello Anna Lincoln. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Pool (website), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. GedUK  19:54, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. Anna Lincoln 08:04, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

If I remember correctly I made that page so it was a redirect to Fred Phelps, yes? It wasn't an attack page, instead it was a redirect from a phrase known in popular culture, to the man who popularised the phrase. However, I can see how it might have been seen as a little frivolous and unnecessary, so I'm not going to try and get it back. Just try not to jump to conclusions as soon as you see a controversial word. LiamUK (talk) 14:42, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Please understand that most Wikipedians would tag that as vandalism if they found such a redirect. Anna Lincoln 08:30, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion QuEST

Hi Anna,

I just strated writing the article on the company. It has been recently selected as the World No.1 in ESO by the Black Book of Outsourcing 2009.

This meant that it credited a page in the wikipedia.

http://www.financialexpress.com/news/quest-global-ranked-world-no.1-in-eso-by-the-black-book-of-outsourcing-2009/605213/

I was just getting into creating the page and setting the url up and was about to add more data over the week on the company.

Let me know your thoughts.

SB —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sudeepbosu (talkcontribs) 12:13, April 28, 2010

Ok, Let's see. Policy at WP:CORP says the following (my emphasis added):

It would be better if you could find more than one reliable source, with deep coverage of the company. Otherwise the article may be removed from Wikipedia. Anna Lincoln 14:47, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna,

you mean I should get more information sources for writing this article. Sure that is not a problem I have many such news stories and reviews on the company.

To name a few,

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1042770/1/.html http://www.financialexpress.com/news/saab-awards-contract-to-quest-global-for-manufacturing-of-boeing-787-dreamliner-parts/554920/ http://www.8ak.in/8ak_india_defence_news/2009/11/quest-launches-sez-to-focus-on-aeroengine-components-and-subsystems-8ak-interview.html http://onespot.wsj.com/india/2009/11/18/a/532976579-exclusive-sez-for-aerospace-in/ http://dqindia.ciol.com/content/DQTop20_07/ranking07/2007/107072126.asp

want to clarify so that it does not get marked for deletion again.

thanks, SB Sudeepbosu (talk) 00:02, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Sudeepbosu.
Once you have some sources, the next step is to make sure the article is neutral. This means that it does not look like an advertisement and does not merely promote the company.
Instead of creating the article under the entry "QuEST", where it may be deleted, I suggest you to create it under the sandbox entry User:Sudeepbosu/QuEST, so that I and others can see it and help you improve it, whithout the threat of it being deleted.
I suggest you to follow the steps at Wikipedia:Article wizard for that. Regards, Anna Lincoln 08:03, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

You really are quite the nice person though, your kindness in an internet age of complete savagery and in spite of my shenanigans is quite admirable. Stay saintly, Anna Lincoln. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.168.234 (talk) 10:14, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello Anna,

Would you please care to explain why did you consider the link to Al turabi's interview on which he confirmed Sudan’s involvement in the assignation attempt as inappropriate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ykhogaly (talkcontribs) 10:04, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

I have reviewed my removals and, well, altough a written source would be better because it can better be verified, the video you are linking does not, in my opinion, violate policy, therefore I will not remove its inclusion again if you add it to the article. But beware that other editors may remove it and you would have to discuss with them. Can't you find a reliable written source instead? Regards, Anna Lincoln 10:09, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Wad Abu Kalam Jr. 10:31, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Anna and I appreciate your understanding. I do acknowledge that the interview is in Arabic but I assure you 100% that it is exactly what I say. It is the only place where anyone acknowledged or admitted to Sudan’s involvement in the assassination attempt on Mubarak.

Al Turabi attempted to disassociate himself “in his typical cowardly fashion” and implicated various other members of the government of Sudan. What is so critical is that he confirmed that the planning, funding, training all took place in Sudan. I am not aware that such a statement was made publically available before. Sudan’s position to this day remains that of complete denial of any involvement.

As Arabic is one of eight languages I am fluent in, I will work in the near future and produce an English transcript of the interview.

Best Regards, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ykhogaly (talkcontribs) 10:31, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Non-constructive edits?? Figs Might Ply (talk) 14:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna, I got a message on my talk page from you regarding my edit to Safe injection site. Cluebot has been picking up my recent edits to the article by accident (I believe). There is a lot of talk between me and a few other editors about this page, and we seeking to resolve it through a few channels. including Wikipedia:Wikiquette_alerts#Consensus.2C_Cooperation_.26_Civility. I've reverted the most recent changes by Minphie because they have not included any justification for their reverts. If you feel the need to revert the article further, please contact me so we can work out how do work this out. --Figs Might Ply (talk) 14:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

207.180.10.50 (talk) 17:07, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Paul Pierce Edit

As I already stated in my response to the cluebot, the edit I made was constructive. The quote by which paul pierce got his nickname "the truth" does include profanity and in its now reverted form it is innacurrate. This isn't vandalism. My experience on wikipedia is that in general it appears that profanity is not censored unless it has no relevancy. Since this is a direct quote regarding the well known nickname of a well known athlete I believe that an accurate quote is relevant.

Sourcing (which I included in my edit):http://www.huffingtonpost.com/miles-mogulescu/paul-pierce-is-the-best-b_b_107852.html

Other sources which quote differently do so because of policies they have regarding profanity (i.e. major news outlets that avoid/censor its use) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.180.10.50 (talk) 17:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I'm sorry, I gazed the expletive and quickly reverted your edit, I see now its use was legitimate. All the best, Anna Lincoln 14:43, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Page blanked by author

Hi. Though page blanking is usually vandalism which needs to be reverted, it is worth looking first at the page history, because quite often the author has blanked his own page, as with Steve Shaw (Film & Post-Production) just now. In those cases it should be tagged {{db-author}} or {{db-g7}}. It can be confusing for an author who realises his page is inappropriate and blanks it, if it is at once restored and he is accused of vandalism for the blanking and told it was unconstructive. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:54, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey, ignore the above, browsing your fascinating talk page I see you're aware of the problem, so I'm sure it was an accident. Did you get any response to your request for a bot to tag author-blankings? It would certainly be useful, though it would have to be quite an intelligent bot if it was going to cope with cases where other editors had made non-substantial edits. The commonest case, I guess, is author makes several edits, someone else adds a db tag, author blanks. A bot should be able to recognise that. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:09, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the reminder, it's clear that an editor should not be warned for removing an article he created. I was too quick hitting the Huggle revert button.
I asked for a bot to tag page blankings by creator at the BON, and they told me that one bot was already doing that job, User:SDPatrolBot. The problem is that sometimes the bot is down and that it is not very fast, so it takes some time between the page blanking and the bot tagging. See you, Anna Lincoln 14:44, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Ah! Maybe that explains an annoying fact that I had wondered about. Sometimes if I try to revert a page blanking using Huggle, it gives me a warning that the user was the creator of the page, and asks me if I want to tag it for speedy deletion instead, but very often it just does the reversion and warns the user. JamesBWatson (talk) 19:39, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I don't often run SDPatrolBot these days (bandwidth, slows down computer, don't like having my precious netbook running 24/7 etc etc ;D), but I should note that it only tags for g7 if the page was also tagged for some kind of speedy deletion (prior to the blanking). There are a couple of other bots which tag for G7 if the author has blanked and is the only editor, but again, these don't run very often. As for the problem with Huggle not always warning about the "blanker" being the creator, that's simply a problem with Huggle, I recall having the same issue a number of times. - Kingpin13 (talk) 21:09, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, Anna May Lincoln, the fact of the matter is that America is in debt and we don't have the money to donate to sources not accepted by Sara V. Olds. This government isn't run by politicians, but by charter school faculty - specifically those with red-blond hair. Now, I'd like you to leave my edits because as President, I need to keep the peace and order among sites and articles. IP vandalism at Ailum

Hello, Anna. I see you have reverted and warned at User talk:182.156.100.133, using Huggle. The same user has been vandalising the same article from several IP addresses, so I suggest if you see another example of it you should manually report to WP:AIV and request a range block. Unfortunately Huggle will just give a string of level 1 warnings to a string of different IP addresses as the user moves from one to another. I would keep an eye on the article for more vandalism myself, but I have to go now. (By the way, I like your handling of the presidential disruptive editing.) JamesBWatson (talk) 08:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I have requested temporary semi-protection, pointing out that a range block should be considered [3]. I'll report to AIV if this continues. Lol, Anna Lincoln 09:07, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
It has now been semi-protected. I was more inclined to a range block, but either way it's done for now. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:19, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that's it. All the best, Anna Lincoln 11:20, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Chef Daniel Kay is an alias for Chef Daniel Kaufman who is currently on Probation and awaiting further legal charges for stealing and conning numerous restaurants in the Boston and New York Area. He is a liar and con man and is currently charged with stealing more than $25,000.00 from credit cards from guests who patronized his establishments. Please check for accuracy and I hope this was helpful.

Adding the word "Bullshit" to the article won't help you build your case. You need to provide reliable sources that back your claims and then you can modify the article. Regards, Anna Lincoln 14:43, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Questioning a revert

Lggkfjh was spamming a YouTube link about Reel Bad Arabs on many sites related to the subject matter of the documentary, and I agree those were bad, but you removed the link to the documentary on the actual page for the documentary. Was this intentional? Blue Rasberry 15:05, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

68.166.193.122 (talk) 15:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Sorry.

Hello Anna. You are right of course. It was extremely juvenile and not at all constructive. I had a 13 year old moment and acted like a child. That being said, it gave me a momentary satisfaction, but I apologize for wasting your time. What I said about Him is true, and it is unfortunate that he is still out there stealing money from people, but I do not have the time to build a case or waste any resources on this awful person. You will not hear from me again. Sorry for the lash out. I'm sorry to have cause you the disturbance. Take care.

Hey, don't be so harsh with yourself, cheer up :-) We all have childish moments. You didn't really wasted my time, it took me a second to fix that. I do would like to hear more from you, I'd love to see you improve some article here. Do you know that some outstanding editors here made unconstructive edits in their beginnings?
