Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Amwecofficial, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Amwecofficial/sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at the our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions ask me on my talk page or you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:46, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Amwecofficial/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:33, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Cullen328 , not sure If this is how I'm able to tag you, but could you help direct me? I understand I can't cover topics that self-benefit me, however, I would be greatly interested in other topics such as philosophy, psychology, and sociology. What do I need to do in order to become an editor on here?

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Sorry I'm new here and have no idea what I'm doing. I'm an intern trying to setup a wiki page for my boss and her organization, would love some help and guidance if possible

Decline reason:

That would be an acceptable username. However, we do not have "wiki pages". Wikipedia has articles; those articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a subject, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of notability. Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject wants to say about itself(either directly or through a representative) Furthermore, you have failed to comply with the conflict of interest and paid editing policies(the latter being a Terms of Use requirement, even for unpaid-in-money interns). You won't be unblocked to continue to violate those two policies as well as WP:PROMO; if that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. If there are topics completely unrelated to your conflict of interest that you want to edit about, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 00:50, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will add that your organization may do good work, but you can't use Wikipedia to tell the world about it; social media or some alternative outlet would be better suited to that. Feel free to show your boss this page. 331dot (talk) 00:51, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone assist me on how to get my account running? Someone who's nice and not power-tripping over their ability to block a user lol.

Request reason:

I understand I can't cover topics that self-benefit me, however, I would be greatly interested in other topics such as philosophy, psychology, and sociology. What do I need to do in order to activate my account? Is there someone who can guide me? How do I change my username as it still shows up as "amwecofficial" when I log in. Tell me what I need to do and I will do it, I will follow all protocols and respect wikipedia rules.

Decline reason:

The instructions are in the block message. And can I offer some advice? Lose the "power tripping" accusation. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:09, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand the reason I was blocked. I am not compensated in any way for my contributions. I understand my contributions cannot benefit me or an organization I work with in any way. I have lots to learn and feel I have lots to contribute in topics I've studied a great deal about (philosophy, psychology, sociology). This is my 3rd attempt at asking for help or at least someone to talk to in order to better understand what I need to do in order to remove the block.

Decline reason:

Unfortunately, that user name already exists. What you can do is go to Special:CentralAuth and type in a username you want. If it says "There is no global account for ...." then it's a name that's available. only (talk) 21:03, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I did check that link to make sure "AnilaAli" was available, and it says the username is available, so im not sure why on your end you saw that it wasn't. Can you please double check? If not "AnilaAli123" will suffice. Thanks!

Decline reason:

Procedural decline; has not responded in over a week to thoughts below. If you want to be unblocked still, please submit a new request with a new username and agreeing to JBW's offer. only (talk) 18:29, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Someome else will review your request; you say you were not compensated for your contributions, but that you wanted to write about your boss. Unless you work for free, that makes you a paid editor. 331dot (talk) 22:32, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Special:CentralAuth/AnilaAli definitely exists, so I've changed the unblock request before someone hands you the username "AnilaAli OR Anilaali123" (which I assume is not what you wanted). GeneralNotability (talk) 23:55, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

talk As I mentioned before, I am an unpaid intern. My boss runs a government organization and wanted me to add some additional information to the page that's already created for her organization. I've spoken to the help chat and they explained to me, very nicely, that I could make a request in the talk section of that page to see if another editor could update the information on the page. I never said I was going to be writing about my boss lol, the initial purpose was to simply update the content of the already existing page.

talk I see what happened now. "Anilaali" and "AnilaAli" are 2 different names, I didn't think capitalization mattered. If that's the case, I'll choose "Anila123".

I highly recommend you read WP:INTERN, and show it to your boss. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 20:58, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I renamed your account from "Amwecofficial" to "Anilaali123". However, I then discovered that "Anila Ali" is the name of the founder of the organisation that you are working for, and although you could perhaps happen to have the same name, it is a potentially misleading user name, so I have restored your original user name. Please choose another one that is not likely to give the impression that you are someone other than who you are. Provided you can select an acceptable user name, I will be willing to recommend unblocking, on the basis of the assurances you have given that you will not continue to edit about your boss or her organisation.
