rorkes drift.

[edit]
Please check the other entries on wiki re the Zulu war. All state the combatants are the British Empire v the Zulu nation. This appears to have been reached by consensus. The Zulu war was fought by the British Empire. Imperial interests at the time were indistinguishable from "British" interests. Therefore it is more accurate to speak of the British Empire. Also there were many contingents who were basically "Imperial" forces. the N.N.C etc. It was the British Empire. I am going to revert. I suggest you create a new section on the Rorkes Drift talkpage, with your arguments, and request other viewpoints. If a consensus is reached, then a revert is doable. Irondome (talk) 17:53, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Imperial interests at the time were indistinguishable from British interests because they were British interests. Any actions taken on behalf of 'the empire' were driven by the UK government at westminster to benefit the United Kingdom. The British Empire as a political entity did not exist. All colonies were subjects of the UK, not one single overarching federal empire. In regards to the NNC, they were ultimately paid and supplied by the United Kingdom, not 'the Empire'.

Anyway, I've already created a new section on the Anglo-Zulu war talk page and look forward to your input.--Allthestrongbowintheworld (talk) 18:15, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alfred Molina and nationality

[edit]

I undid your edit and wanted to explain more. Molina obtained US Citizenship and is still doing notable activities as an American, thus American belongs in the lede per WP:OPENPARA along with his nationality when he became notable. In the US citizenship and nationality are the same thing - American. Check out other articles about UK citizens for how they are classified. General convention is to specify component nationality, Scottish, English, Welsh for those people. See Sean Connery, John Lennon, Anthony Hopkins. This is pretty much driven by what British editors of Wikipedia desire and the rest of us just go along with it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:01, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Citizenship_and_nationality details the differences between the two. Unless he specifically indentifies himself as American, then Molina is a Brit who happens to also hold American citizenship. I'm also well aware of the convention of describing Britons by their home country in the opening paragraph. The nationality line in the infobox is a different concept. Legally Molina is British. There is no such thing as English nationality.--Allthestrongbowintheworld (talk) 17:32, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
See examples section in article you linked to. Also Wikipedia:Nationality of people from the United Kingdom. From that I got that he is a British citizen with English nationality. Nationality in opening paragraph should be what is summarized in the infobox and should not be different. However, I'll let the Brits decide on how to label Brits in articles. He became a dual-national when he obtained US citizenship, English by birth, American by US naturalization law. As long as his American nationality is also in the article I'm OK with whatever you choose otherwise. I think you are wrong here, but won't edit the article about this particular point again. --Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:45, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the infobox field to citizenship and listed United Kingdom and United States there. This should be pretty unambiguous and does not conflict with what is stated in lede. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:18, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have had no warnings?. or anything of such matter. I will continue to include what is necessary on this pages, I can see from past adventures of yours, that you wish everyone to be British, what a strange idealism you follow --Allirelandunbiased (talk)

The Hobbit movie

[edit]

Sorry about that; I had confused two revisions and rolled back the latter, while it was the former that was unconstructive. dci | TALK 23:19, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Martin McDonaugh

[edit]

I have inserted a citation tag, as it would be good to insert a reference to back up the self-identification that you refer to for McDonaugh's dual citizenship.--Soulparadox (talk) 07:32, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Incivility

[edit]

You leave a rude and provocative remark like that again and I will be forced to report you. You are no longer welcome on my talk page and you are not to comment there again. Have a nice day now. ÓCorcráin (talk) 22:07, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pot calling the kettle black much? As I said before, report me all you want, I've done nothing wrong. Stop reverting legitimate edits and I won't have to come any where near your talk page. And I'll take that as a yes then, clearly very bitter --Allthestrongbowintheworld (talk) 22:11, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Rome

[edit]

Ciao, and thanks for writing! I am Italian and have been watching the series on Rai. There, it was always announced as a coproduction with HBO and BBC. Each Italian web site reports the same, for example the cinecitta` website. But you are right, each english/american resource on the web "forgets" Rai fiction. This is quite strange... I have to research more, I will write again tomorrow. Ciao, Alex2006 (talk) 17:43, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo
and sorry for the delay: actually, I found out that RAI did not produce the serie officially, but was only "associated" to the production. The Italians provided their know-how and work force to design and build the set in Cinecittà, they designed costumes, jewellery, and the like. In doing that, they relied on their great experience and skills, contributing in a decisive way to the success of the serie. Alex2006 (talk) 06:31, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
