Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. Your edits are very welcome, but you can't copy from soapcentral or any other website, as that's a copyright violation. If you want to rewrite Bianca's history in your own words, please do so. User:Zoe|(talk) 01:38, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stephanie

[edit]

Please see Talk:Stephanie Douglas Forrester. I've noticed you've written a fair deal of soap character articles...I may have to go through them to see if they're in the same tone as that article. If they are, I'll have to put cleanup tags on them too. Mike H. That's hot 04:15, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Soap opera characters

[edit]

Hi. I see that you're adding a bunch of articles for soap opera characters. Thanks for contributing to the project but I think you should take a look at our guidelines for inclusion of articles on fictional characters. I feel that your additions don't conform to it and will end up being deleted. Pascal.Tesson 12:25, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Just a note of thanks for starting the article on the Designing Women character, Kendall Dobbs. Had you not started the article, I would not have been up to expanding it. I really appreciate it. It was a lot of fun adding to it. :) Have a nice day -- Flummery 21:53, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for another perspective...

[edit]

I thought I'd ask you about this, since you must also have seen "Killing All the Right People" a decent number of times. I was checking Google for more information about the episode when I found this site. I know it's not a big deal, but I was really surprised that some people looked at the episode that way. Let me quote the part I'm talking about:

"In 1987, as part of its second season, CBS's Southern woman-centered sitcom Designing Women explicitly drew the connection between heterosexual problem and homosexual culpability. [...]
Mary Jo argued for condoms only as a means of protecting children, not as a way to stop the spread of AIDS, which the episode tacitly connected with promiscuous homosexual behavior. Thus, as Emile Netzhamme and Scott Shamp observe, even though Kendall is portrayed as sweet, well adjusted, and sympathetic, the episode subtly blames his homosexuality for his fatal condition."

I guess I just wanted to ask you if I'm missing something here? It seemed obvious to me that the entire point of the episode was to disprove the reasoning behind the bigotry directed at homosexuals with AIDS. Mary Jo did argue for condoms as a means to prevent AIDS; that was her biggest motivation for participating in the debate. Of course, she was arguing for it as protection for children, not adults, but that was the point of the debate—condoms being supplied in schools. Mary Jo also remarks at the debate that AIDS is a disease Kendall got before he knew what it was or how to prevent it. It's stated that anyone can get AIDS and that no one knew how it got started. I felt the episode showed great sympathy for everyone who died from AIDS or was living with it. I just don't see this "explicit connection between heterosexual problem and homosexual culpability." Do you see it? Thanks for your time. :) --Flummery 18:34, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Puzzled by something

[edit]

I'm puzzled by your removal of cleanup tags from all of the Fashion House character articles. All of them are purely fictional biography written in an in-universe perspective, making the tag appropriate, so I'm surprised to see them all removed without so much as a question as to why I put them there. Phil Sandifer 06:10, 15 November 2006 (UTC) Because, I took three days to edit them and cleaned them up to conform to the fictional standards. Hence then I removed the tags.[reply]

William Chandler?

[edit]

When is it revealed that William Chandler setup Tania? This is not explicated in the Fashion House finale...

To answer, he was the one who did the deed, and then he and Sophia, as far as I know, planted the gun on Tania. Then it was she who confessed to the crime. he was also the one who told the district attorney, that she confessed to the crime, which could easily set things like that in motion. As I said, that is what I possibly think happened, and it is open to speculation. Also, I fixed all the articles up to conform to the fictional angle, as was told, and I removed the tags after they were finished. It took me a good three days to do so.

Lance Miller is NOT a pharmacist!

[edit]

Apparently someone seems to think that the character of Lance Miller is a pharmacist, because this is about the fourth time, I have had to remove a line saying that he was the world's best pharmacist.

Let me clear the air here. For one; Lance Miller is a fictional character on a telenovela called Fashion House! Secondly, even on the show, he wasn't a pharmacist, he was an accountant, and a crooked one at that; and third, he was killed on the show.

So, I am kindly asking, whoever is putting in that article that he is a pharmacist to stop, because he was not a pharmacist, and never would be; because he is merely a fictional character and a dead one at that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AlbertGray (talkcontribs) 12:00, 9 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

WP:FICT

[edit]

Greetings. I've stumbled across a number of your articles and wanted to call your attention, if you haven't already read it, to WP:FICT. I think that for example the article on the TV series Harper Valley PTA would benefit very much from including a list of characters and perhaps a separate article with brief descriptions of the characters. However, each character should not have his or her own individual article. Otto4711 20:08, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Orlando

Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I noticed that you live in Orlando. I was wondering if you had been to either of these dinner shows and could recommend one. We will be visiting Orlando soon. I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Arlaine Wright, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Brandon Buddy/AfD

[edit]

Hi, I just recreated a page for Brandon Buddy (Cole Thornhart) of One Life to Live, which apparently has been previously deleted at least once due to "lack of notability." Obviously, he is a new actor, but his status as a contract player on OLTL makes him notable, no? In any case, I was hoping you and others who have contributed to OLTL pages could comment on the article's talk page regarding this deletion issue. Thanks in advance. Tense of plot summaries within articles

[edit]
  • Hello, AlbertGray, I made tiny changes to your edits to the Josh Madden article, as you can see with these two links...[1][2]...because even though a lot of plot summaries of fictional character or fictional event articles are worded in past-tense, present-tense is preferred for plot summaries on Wikipedia, as also seen with this internal link...Wikipedia:WikiProject_Soap_Operas#Tense. The Josh Madden article's plot summary is worded in present-tense, so your edits needed to be changed to present-tense as well. As for an article's plot summary that is worded in past-tense, well, then it's perfectly okay to make edits to that article's plot summary that are past-tense also.

Anyway, I'll see you around on Wikipedia. And don't forget to sign your posts after commenting and or resonding to another editor on a talk page at Wikipedia. If you don't know already, all you have to do to sign your posts on Wikipedia is type four tildes...~~~~...without the periods, of course. Flyer22 20:05, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Cory Smith

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Cory Smith, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Rocket000 07:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Babe Carey

[edit]

I undid your edits to the Babe Carey article about Bianca feeling guilty for not forgiving Babe concerning the baby switch once Babe is supposedly dead, etc. and all that. The reason I undid that is because it's already mentioned later, in the more appropriate place — the section titled Satin Slayer, the Fusion serial killer storyline. Flyer22 19:02, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tense of plot summaries

[edit]

AlbertGray, I keep changing the tiny edit you keep making to the Josh Madden article's plot summary, in the way of tense, because Wikipedia's plot summaries should be in present tense, as is addressed in this link: Wikipedia:WikiProject Soap Operas#Tense. I know that link states preferred. But a good (or great) formatting style for Wikipedia is considered to be when an article's plot summary is worded in present tense. To read up on more of that, you can click on this link. I was opposed to it at first as well, but now it seems really right to me, perhaps because I'm used to it now. But having the plot in present tense, with the year in which it happened if it's a soap opera (though years are not usually needed for present tense of film plot summaries), as to clarify that it's not happening now makes a lot of sense, considering that just as if watching a movie, a television show, or a play, it really does seem as though it's happening as you read.

I'll eventually get around to writing the other All My Children plot summaries in present tense as well. What is happening in Josh's plot summary is supposed to be as though the reader is watching that now, like a movie. Stating "and is acrimonious towards Zarf/Zoe, whom he thinks would hurt Bianca" as opposed to stating "was acrimonious towards Zarf/Zoe, whom he thought would hurt Bianca" is correct. Also, it should not be mentioned in that part that Zarf/Zoe and Josh would later become friends, since that has not happened yet at that time. If you want to add something about Zarf/Zoe and Josh becoming friends, which it appears that you do, then make sure that it is at the correct spot in the timeline. Your edits (the ones that I know about) to the tense of plot summaries, where you've changed certain parts to past tense, will be undone. I'll see you around. Just try to remember that sometimes the way an article is may have a lot to do with the way it should be instead of what you feel may be wrong. Flyer22 15:53, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I look up on your talk page, it's clear that I've already told you about this before, though not in this much detail at that time. Try to abide by it this time. Flyer22 16:03, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Olivia Brandeis "Brandy" Henderson" requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Flagging Winifred Freedman for further review

[edit]

Hello, AlbertGray … I recently encountered the article about Winifred Freedman and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.

I am considering tagging Winifred Freedman (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.

I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now, and I am always available to help you become a more proactive contributor. —72.75.72.63 (talk) 17:46, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Winifred Freedman

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Winifred Freedman, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Winifred Freedman. — 72.75.72.63 (talk) 02:35, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Ken Matthews, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello AlbertGray! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 16 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Bewitched's Sheila

[edit]

Dear Sir. I removed the information you added about Sheila on the Bewitched page as this was not an essential character or element of the show. However, as the character Sheila made several appearances it would be a good idea to add her into the section on "other" recurring characters, and there I think would be a good place for inclusion of the content you wished to enter. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Proposed deletion of Florence Jean Castleberry

[edit]

The article Florence Jean Castleberry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is nothing but a rather lengthy bio of a fictional character. I arrived here when redirected from "Kiss my grits", after hearing the phrase in an unrelated context and hoping to understand the cultural context. Unfortunately, this page does nothing to clarify that, beyond an offhand mention that an alternate spelling of this phrase was a catchphrase for the character. It also does nothing to explain how this character is culturally notable; the detail here seems entirely pointless, and despite being flagged for several years, still no-one has provided reason why this character is significant enough to deserve her own page.
