[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Skikda.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soxred93 | talk count bot 17:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers, like Population

[edit]

When doing population, use COMMAS not periods.

Example for twenty-thousand five-hundred:

WRONG: 20.500
RIGHT: 20,500

If you use a period, it means that there are twenty and 1/2 people, like you sawed one in half.

Thanks... 4.240.87.252 (talk) 23:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I noticed your work here and was kindda wondering how did you do that? I mean what programme did you use? and did you trace the bit map? thanks! :). Λua∫Wise (talk) 18:18, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting cause I used Inkscape to trace the bit map and then colour it and the results ain't short of disastrous! thanks! :) Λua∫Wise (talk) 18:25, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It works with geometric shapes, but with nothing else... I have illustrator but it does not do the job any better. Thanks again mate! ;)Λua∫Wise (talk) 18:38, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yap, but it is much faster with bitmap tracing, it preserves the ratios and with high resolution, you can get the image just right... Also, I spent plenty of time with all Inkscape tutrials and its simplicity is what makes me go back to it always rather than illustraor. Cheers.

Fair use rationale for Image:Eskom.svg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Eskom.svg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. How to draw these maps that you have done?

[edit]

Hi, HOw can I draw maps like what you done for example here: [2] I would appricite hint or help on how to do them. Farmanesh (talk) 23:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for answering my question. Problem is the source for map you gave has a wrong map of Iran's proveinces. The map it gives doesn't include some proviences at all. Any better source of map in your mind? thanks again. Farmanesh (talk) 15:04, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hi!

[edit]

Yes, nice to see you again! Yes, I do know how to do that. What you need to do is: for example, here's a reference. <ref name=example>{{cite web|url=example.com|title=example|publisher=example|accessdate=2008-02-23}}</ref>
Then you do... <ref name=example/> for everything you want to cite with the same resource as you did before. I don't understand how to tables though, sorry. Regards, Rudget. 15:40, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are two different references. Which do you want me to fix? Rudget. 16:31, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, they were two different references. Fixed though. Rudget. 16:42, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Source for AIDS/HIV map

[edit]

Image:AIDS and HIV prevalence.svg lists only "UNAIDS" as the source for the data. Can you please clarify whether it's the December 2007 UNAIDS report, or some other version? Thanks. This is needed so that we can put a proper caption and citation on it in the AIDS #Epidemiology page. Thanks. Eubulides (talk) 20:46, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Algerian communes

[edit]

Yes I won't go around fixing all of the pages so far but I will heed your suggestions for all the new ones I will mass-produce (there are at present over a thousand missing). I would greatly thank you if you help develop them as I see you are from Algeria. Most are really stubby but with a bit of TLC they will improve. I also added the Time Zone field of the template as default. Thanks! Editorofthewiki 20:04, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why does this bother you? If you wish to explain I'll be happy to listen to you. Editorofthewiki 21:03, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with that is we don't have a full list of the municipalies by district. We do, however, have a list by province, which I try to upload via the French Wikipedia. And, of course, there are much less communes by Algerian province than by U.S. state.

P.S. I don't think I can use your infobox. The problem is, we need to add a pushpin map feature, which would be crucial to my plan as it would show the reader exactly where in Algeria this commune is. Editorofthewiki 14:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please show me to the official Algerian page and I will be happy to revert all of the province municipality stuff. Editorofthewiki 14:16, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Okay, but I'd rather you add it because your French is a lot better than mine. I still don't know why I can't just add to the province pages as it is much more conveniant. Being that you're from Algeria and I'm thousands of miles away does tip knowledge of the place in your favor. Editorofthewiki 14:42, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt that you are the artist and copyright holder of Image:YWCA In Service for the Girls of the World - Poster, 1919 s58d.5 - 2.jpg as you claimed. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Flag of Nova Roma.svg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flag of Nova Roma.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Guelaât Bou Sbaâ municipality

[edit]

Hi. I'm working on WP:RLR, fixing some red links, and I stumbled upon two Algerian articles: Bouchegouf District and Guelaât Bou Sbaâ District. My question is: both districts appear to contain Guelaât Bou Sbaâ municipality. We are talking about two different municipalities with the same name? Or is this a mistake? Thanks for your help. --PeterCantropus (talk) 04:40, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Hyrcania.PNG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Hyrcania.PNG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all MediaWiki wiki's. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Hyrcania.PNG]]. Note that this is an automated message. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 00:17, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help

I thought it might be a good idea to run a contest or two through the Countries WikiProject to attract editors to improve country coverage on Wikipedia, especially the country outlines.

I noticed you are a member of the WikiProject, and was wondering if you could help.

I've posted a message at Countries WikiProject talk page to get discussion started on what the awards programs should be and how they should be run.

Your ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Cartes des Wilayas

[edit]

Bonjour.

Sting-fr (talk) 13:16, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists?
