Re: Paramananda - well done. If I may make a suggestion: Try to keep the first sentence of the intro on your pages shorter (this one is 75 words) to help those who may wish to learn more about the subject. And for style. I was going to edit it and may do so, but only if asked.

I do understand.--Zananiri (talk) 12:49, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tajjalan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a dictionary and does not include neologisms

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Note

[edit]

If you have not seen it already, have a look at Yoga and the ongoing discussion about its pronunciation in the last section its Talk page. Perhaps you can add something!--Zananiri (talk) 11:35, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fringe guidelines

[edit]

Please read these guidelines WP:FRINGE, and this policy WP:PSCI. When you make statements about the world which are from your belief system the text should make that clear. For example, your changes to Dasha make statements of fact which are actually part of a specific belief system. Also be careful not to make medical claims sourced to unreliable sources. On wikipedia we look to the medical literature, not traditional beliefs for statements of medically relevant details. If you are making claims based on some folklore/pseudoscience, the context should make that clear, always put any pseudoscientific/folk beliefs into context with the mainstream. See WP:MEDRS for more information. Good luck, IRWolfie- (talk) 14:22, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at the Astrology article for a good example of general treatment of these topics, IRWolfie- (talk) 14:31, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

stop Please stop for a breath and understand that, for good or for bad reasons, your work is being discussed at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Propose_a_Topic-Ban_on_New_Articles_in_Article_Space where there is a proposal to make you work in a very different manner. It is important that you participate in these discussions and do so well, calmly and in a manner that shows that you understand how Wikipedia's community works.

You seem to be an expert in Hindu scholarly matters. That is great. However, your articles are giving cause for some concern. You need, please, to work with us, or all your work will be wasted. This includes engaging people in conversations. It includes explaining things in detail, and not only to those who will understand. Those who do not understand are very important, too. Fiddle Faddle 21:37, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Your contribution to the discussion has been important. I cannot predict the outcome, and I hope it does not cause you difficulties. Fiddle Faddle 07:29, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your desire to leave. Under pressure like this anyone would wish to leave. This is a continuing unpleasantness for you and is horrible. I am simply asking you to take a period of quiet reflection, allow the dust to settle wherever it settles, and then, once all is quiet, to consider whether you have, as I believe you have, much value to add to Wikipedia and the area you specialise in, or whether you still wish to leave.
I hope you will wish to stay.
If you decide to stay I will give you such help as I am able so that you can understand the ways of Wikipedia better. I am sure others will do the same.
If you decide to leave I will be disappointed, but I will wish you well. Fiddle Faddle 09:58, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My dear Timtrent or Fiddle Faddle (I cannot help addressing you as my dear), But for you I would not have elected to respond. You are prepared to help me but there is no one else who is likely to follow suit. A tiger cannot change its stripes, this you know. When you insisted upon my participation in the ongoing discussion I thought I would be meeting people possessing a higher level of intellectual development and maturity than I had managed to acquire. It is before you, you unwittingly threw me instead before those who you know what. I am not complaining. But I am reminded of the very ancient adage which directs that the highest kind of knowledge should be passed on only to those who deserve it; this holy instruction I have indeed disobeyed by posting the 160 odd articles besides rewriting many other articles. I have committed a serious crime. I deserve to be punished. But, I do not want you to become my accomplice. I have no intention of returning to Wikipedia even though I have already in hand nineteen finely honed missing topics to post. I have now decided to send them in essay forms to magazines which will readily publish them. That I am disappointing you it pains me equally. I do not know where you live and work but I would like to keep in touch with you. Enjoy life by living it truly. Regards.

P.S. After seeking retirement from Wikipedia am I supposed to delete the User page and the talk page, if so can you suggest how to do that? But, now on I shall not be watching this talk page or user page or the pages I had created or revised save for this suggestion sought from you.Aditya soni (talk) 15:59, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may blank, or request the deletion of, your own user space pages. I can understand why you wish to do so. I wish you would stay, even as an observer, but I have said I respect your decision, and wish you well, and I stand by it. I feel we are the poorer for your leaving. That is our problem, not yours.
I feel you have been mistreated and that we owe you an apology. For any hurt I have caused you I apologise freely.
I wish you did not feel you had been thrown before enemies. Wikipedia suffers from the Wisdom of Crowds. Unfortunately this can manifest itself as lynch law. People complained that you would not engage in discussion. I wonder if anyone ever let you know that discussion is important to Wikipedia. I doubt it. I find you easy to engage in conversation. I wish we had met under different circumstances.
If you stay I will most assuredly help you. I will help you as a guide, as a sounding board. I will offer opinions which may even be incorrect. I am human.
You have seen WIkipedia at its worst. I hope you will allow it to show you its best. Fiddle Faddle 17:22, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hoping you return after a deserved rest

[edit]

I thank you for your contribution. I only came across your articles recently because of the discussions referenced above. I know little enough of Hindu philosophy and theology and hope to benefit by reading more about them. I have seen some evidence in the discussions to indicate that some are willing to approach the majority of your articles with a view to improvement rather than deletion. I hope that this will come to pass and I also hope that after time to recuperate and reflect, you choose to return and share more knowledge with this flawed but mostly well-meaning community. Peace. 24.151.10.165 (talk) 15:16, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear 24.151.10.165 (talk) I am pleased to note your interest in Hindu philosophy and theology. On the question "Whether Hindu astrology is a science or not?" - The Supreme Court of India had in 2004 ruled that Astrology is a science through its order in the Case No. Appeal (civil) 5886 of 2002 P.M.Bhargava & Others. Vs. University Grants Commission and Another. Supreme Court of India had delivered its judgment in this case on 05/05/2004 which was later officially published through the Supreme Court of India – Judgement Information System ( http://judis.nic.in/supremecourt/qrydisp.asp?tfnm=26188 ) I am drawing your attention to the detailed order of the Court; even if this judgement does not appeal to you but do study the order. Astrology has been a part of Indian Culture for past 4000 years; and you know that even those who publically oppose astrology have abundant faith in it. And, in India it is legally considered as a science. Since you took the trouble to contact me and console me I thought I should respond by passing on to you a valuable information not known to many. I have noted your concern. Regards.Aditya soni (talk) 08:05, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I had read mention of this decision, but it was interesting to read the reasoning of the court, so I thank you very much for the link. I found the reasoning of the Madras High Court (quoted approvingly) particularly apt for an encyclopedia: it had "held that the very purpose of imparting education is to gain knowledge and therefore there should be every scope for making a study on very many subjects in order to enrich ones craving for knowledge. Any such attempt from any quarters in furtherance of that pursuit should not be stultified. The learned Judge further held that it was for the pupil concerned to select any particular field or subject in furtherance of his future career, and merely because the subject has got its basis or origin traceable to some cult, it cannot be held that the same would only result in propagation of a particular religion." I also noted your recent comment at AN/I that you are willing to "re-write and if possible simplify" articles. While no one could expect you to do so to all articles at once and while I decry the way you got dragged to AN/I, I think it would go far to persuade others if you were willing to edit one or two articles to more neutrally present Hindu beliefs, as beliefs rather than as universal truths (while fully recognizing that for believers these are truths, just as other beliefs are truths for other religions). What I have in mind is small changes of the sort I attempted at Rasasvada so that beliefs are stated "for Hindus" and so that scholars are instructing "followers" rather than "us". I can certainly understand if you are not up to such editing yet, but I think doing so would be the strongest sort of evidence that you are willing to collaboratively present the knowledge you possess in a form the community can appreciate. Best. 24.151.10.165 (talk) 14:14, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I commend 24's approach to you. It is gentle, pragmatic, and starts to solve the issues that others have decided exist. Fiddle Faddle 16:19, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Moving existing articles into user space

[edit]

Namaste!

Let's begin by getting your articles out of mainspace, where they are under threat of being deleted, and into userspace, where we may work on them.

I've created one already: User:Aditya soni/WorkinProgress/Char Dham (Vedic)

Here's the process:

  1. Create the page in userspace. 1a. In the searchbox at top right, enter "User:Aditya soni/WorkinProgress/"and "xxx" (replace "xxx" with the name of the article you are moving). Let's say it's Unmaad_yoga_(astrology). Enter ""User:Aditya soni/WorkinProgress/Unmaad_yoga_(astrology)" 1b. Hit return, and you'll get a blank edit page. Leave it for now.
  2. Open another tab in your browser.
  3. Go to the article you wish to move. (in this case, Unmaad_yoga_(astrology))
  4. Press the "Edit" tab at the top.
  5. Select all the text in the edit box. Copy it.
  6. Go back to the blank edit page from step 1b.
  7. Paste in the text from step 5.
  8. If the article is being considered for deletion, remove the first few lines with the deletion tag.
  9. Also remove the last few lines (listing the categories)
  10. Save the page.
  11. We now have a copy of the article which we can work on to improve. Even if the original is deleted before it can be improved, we can always restore it when it is ready.

Repeat for each of the hundred or so articles you have created.

We can get administrator assistance to recover the text of those articles already deleted, so they are not lost.

Let me know if you have any questions on the process. --Pete (talk) 03:48, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pete, you are a great help. I only wish some one like you had similarly guided me earlier. I proceeded to create pages without understanding WP requirements. But brother, understanding all rules and norms is beyond me. To start with I have reworked on User:Aditya soni/WorkinProgress/Char Dham (Vedic) which is under threat of deletion, after moving it to User:Aditya soni/WorkinProgress/Four Vedic Dhams so as to avoid confusion with Char Dham that already exists. Do examine my re-working and let me have your opinion. Presently, not all articles are under threat. I have copied all articles on my desk top to work upon if need be. Because some of the articles have recently been reviewed and may be being reviewed, I plan to work on these one by one in case they are threatened.Aditya soni (talk) 06:46, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Sahib"

[edit]

You recently called me "Huon Sahib" on my talk page. That mode of address would be appropriate only as a jocular reference to my fictional namesake, King-Emperor Huon - as Wikipedia editors we're all equal, and there's no need to call another editor "sahib" - not me, not the members of ArbCom, not Jimmy Wales himself. Huon (talk) 17:23, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Huon Saheb, no offence meant, for I was not aware of your fictional namesake. But all the same, I have found your objection and clarification cuter than the very cute silhouette of yours of the time when you were a tiny, naughty and chipper kid that I have happened to notice just now. You see, I was born and brought up in Delhi in a very cultured literary upper-class environment and taught to be respectful towards each and all; my respectful address is a part of myself being respectful toward others. I guess, habits die hard. I cannot change my old habits, therefore, please bear with me. Regards.Aditya soni (talk) 02:08, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Chidakasha

[edit]

Hi, I'm Fiachra10003. Aditya soni, thanks for creating Chidakasha!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hi - I very much like your articles but it might be helpful to write an introductory paragraph to the article explaining it in context for those of us with no prior knowledge of Hinduism

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Fiachra10003 (talk) 18:16, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for creating Mardava, Aditya soni!

Wikipedia editor The Average Wikipedian just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Please put more weight on the meaning or how to put Mardava in practice in Hinduism instead of just listing the other astopayas. Also, for example, give examples of ways it is achieved in different religions to make it less like a dictionary.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. A tag has been placed on Vibodha requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://eng.ichacha.net/zaoju/vibodha.html and https://eng.ichacha.net/zaoju/nididhyasana.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
