[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. SounderBruce 01:43, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "UWashCataloging", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because appears to be shared account for UW Libraries. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Pburka (talk) 00:39, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. You may wish to review the policies on WP:COI when editing articles related to your employer. (I don't mean to imply that there's been any violation.) Happy editing. Pburka (talk) 01:38, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- For your own safety, please keep private, identifying information off of Wikipedia unless you really want to self-identify. I can tell you from experience that there really is no upside to providing such information. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:40, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- I noticed your username and see it has been changed once already- so maybe you addressed the point I'm about to make- but it sounds like a role account that could be passed to a successor as 'principal cataloger', which is not permitted. 331dot (talk) 07:15, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Huck
[edit]Please note that disambiguation pages like Huck are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:
- Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
- Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
- Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
- Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
- Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
- Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory
Thank you. Leschnei (talk) 22:09, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

[edit]You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 03:34, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Why have I been blocked?
[edit]I do not have any understanding of why I have been blocked. I have no advertising or promotional content. I do not promote anything, and I don't understand why my username is a problem. I am the only person who uses this account and the account does not represent my organization, it's just happens to include the university where I work, but I do not edit for work. I do not get paid to edit, and I do almost all of my editing on Wikidata, not in Wikipedia. The only edit on here that I did recently was to ask about changing the name of the article on the Chicago Artists' Coalition. The article entry should not have an apostrophe in it. Other than that, I have no idea what kinds of edits are being referred to as a reason for blocking me. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 06:19, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Your username seems to indicate this is a role account/associated with a job or position, which is not permitted; accounts are for the exclusive use of a single person who may not give others access, such as a successor to your position(who would need to create their own account for themselves, if you leave the job, the account leaves with you). I'm going to ask The Blade of the Northern Lights about the promotional editing aspect, as it's not clear to me right now. 331dot (talk) 10:17, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, the username is the primary issue here. If you select a new username, I or another administrator will be happy to unblock you. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 13:59, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- It's strange that I have been using the same username for over 5 years without any issue until now. But if changing it is the price to pay, I guess I have no other option. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk • contribs)
- I agree that it's regrettable that no one alerted you sooner. The rule against role account names has been a long-standing part of Wikipedia's username policy. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:30, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

I'm afraid that's taken. You can run a potential choice through Special:CentralAuth to see if it's available(though this will not reveal similar usernames). 331dot (talk) 16:31, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- When I put AdamSeattle into the search it does not show that it is used. Adam Seattle also does not show that it has been taken. Am I missing something? 97.126.64.177 (talk) 17:14, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hmm. I don't understand, when I attempt to carry out the rename I get a message that says "This user has more than 100,000 edits. Please confirm that you are sure that you want to rename this user and that a system administrator is available to monitor this rename". Perhaps The Blade of the Northern Lights knows more. It's going to be a few hours before I can come back to this. 331dot (talk) 17:18, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- I have absolutely no idea what's going on. I'm sorry this renaming is taking so long, we appreciate your patience; this isn't normally how renamings go, I'm sure you're frustrated but we'll figure it out. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:20, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think I have figured out why it says you have over 100,000 edits; do you edit other Wikimedia Foundation projects? 331dot (talk) 14:37, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I edit mostly in Wikidata, and am a property creator there as well. 97.126.64.177 (talk) 21:44, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Remember to log in. I have started the process, but it is going to take awhile due to the sheer number of edits and projects involved. 331dot (talk) 23:18, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, it appears to have been completed, and I was able to log in to Wikidata. 97.126.64.177 (talk) 10:19, 8 January 2023 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 19
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nayak (caste), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Aboriginal. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
PlantZAfrica Plants of the Week
[edit]I've added the new PlantZAfrica Plants of the Week ID to the taxonbar (e.g. at Dalbergia armata. The entry currently has PlantZAfrica with no Wikipedia link. Are you interested in adding a short section to the South African National Biodiversity Institute article so we can provide a link? — Jts1882 | talk 08:00, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks, I've added a paragraph about PlantZAfrica on the SANBI page. AdamSeattle (talk) 07:00, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
