County-level City

[edit]

Hey, I am student from American University and I am now doing my project about Wikipedia, I spend a lot of time making a list of County-level City in English, but only finish one province. How you made all the list of them. Do you have any fast ways?

Excuse me, sir.

I have some question for Template:BSM line links.

  1. What does the ‘BSM’ (related to Busan Metro) stand for?
  2. What is the meaning ‘line links’ of this template? And is this template the same as template:Busan Metro style?

Thanks. --Idh0854 (talk) 08:11, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Style jiggling on Japanese cities

[edit]

You made an edit to Oyama, Tochigi which adjusts the vertical positioning in a subtle way -- and breaks the line under the position map, where "Oyama" appears superscripted. I see you have been making similar edits to other cities -- I looked at Zama, at for some reason this is not broken in the same way. But anyway, it seems to me this is clearly not the way to adjust positioning, which should be done (if at all) in a template of some sort. Has this been agreed on somewhere, or are you doing this on your own? (Please reply here) Imaginatorium (talk) 12:36, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries, multiple consecutive edits

[edit]

Hello, ASDFGH. A couple suggestions for you to consider that will make it easier for us all to work together:

  • Please make a habit of providing an edit summary when you make a change to an article. Doing so makes it easier for your colleagues here to understand the intention of your edit.
  • Plus, it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. This keeps the page history of the article less cluttered.

Thanks in advance for considering these suggestions. Eric talk 18:49, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese counties and the word xian

[edit]

I notice you recently made a large number of edits to various article regarding the names of Chinese counties. For example: this edit on Pi County and this edit List of administrative divisions of Sichuan among many others. In these you added Pixian to the name or piped the name from Pixian (County) to Pi County.

Please note that you are creating tautologies. The word xian means county. So when you write Pixian (County) you are including the word county twice. It would be like editing the Eiffel Tower article to say, "In France the Eiffel Tower is known as the La Tour Eiffel tower."

Additionally it is inconsistent to only add xian to counties where the name consists of a single Chinese character but not adding xian to counties where there are two or three characters in the name. This is inconsistent. If Pixian is correct then so too would be Shuangliuxian. However, we in fact have Shuangliu County and Pi County and the pinyin shows Shuāngliú Xiàn and Pí Xiàn with Xiàn clearly a separate word form .

As you seem to be making a large number of edits in a short time, I assume you are using some form of automation. Reverting all these edits without such a tool will be very laborious. Could you please have the revert yourself using the same automation. If you disagree with my comments above, please post of the WikiProject China talk page and so that other editors can build a consensus. Rincewind42 (talk) 06:09, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Do we really need the old way of writing Zhuang for Guangxi districts?. They won't mean anything to most readers, and those who can understand them can surely read the modern Latin versions. We don't add traditional Chinese or pre-pinyin romanisations of Chinese either, even they are surely far more common and still used by some people.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 08:28, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of 2011 Super Girl

[edit]

The article 2011 Super Girl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Obscure, non-notable rehash of a Japanese reality show. There's no need for this on the English Wikipedia.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I like to saw logs! Chinese townships

[edit]

Hi. I just came across your township template for the Lhasa Prefecture which I find enormously useful. Since about 2006 on here I've wanted a full list of townships of China, particular Tibetan Aut. Region. I began the lists in Townships of the People's Republic of China but there's still some missing ones. What I'd like to see is you create the remaining lists like List of township-level divisions of the Tibet Autonomous Region etc in the style of the Anhui one (List of township-level divisions of Anhui), and then to create Template:Township-level divisions of Lhasa Prefecture etc by each county of China! Well, at least Tibet anyway. Do you know of a good source yet to start articles on the townships? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:22, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

LA edit-a-thons on February 14, 17, and 21

[edit]
Redondo Loves Wikipedia (2/14), Wik-Ed Women (2/17), and Unforgetting LA at the Getty (2/21)!

Dear fellow Wikipedian,

The LA Wikipedia community has three events in mid-February -- please consider attending!

First, we have a Valentine's Day edit-a-thon appropriately named Redondo Loves Wikipedia, which will take place at the Redondo Beach Public Library from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, February 14. Join library staff, the Redondo Beach Historical Society, and others to help improve Wikipedia's coverage of Redondo Beach!

Second, we have a Wik-Ed Women editing session on Tuesday, February 17 from 6pm to 10pm at the Los Angeles Contemporary Archive downtown. This series of informal get-togethers is designed to encourage Los Angeles women-in-the-arts (though all are welcome!) to contribute their expertise to Wikipedia, specifically expanding content about women artists.

Third, we have an Unforgetting LA event put on by East of Borneo in collaboration with the Getty Research Institute. Come help improve Wikipedia's coverage of LA design and architecture, and have an awesome free day at the museum -- parking will be validated for edit-a-thon participants! If you'd like to use particular books from GRI's great collection, be sure to email before 2/13 (instructions at event page).

And be sure to check out our main meetup page, because we already have three SoCal events scheduled for early March!

I hope to see you there! Calliopejen1 (talk) - via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:58, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese railway stations

[edit]

Hi there. Please don't move articles to titles that don't follow the conventions laid down at WP:NC-ZH for station names. Thanks,  Philg88 talk 05:32, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(Philg88) I think you misunderstood Sanlin East Station (East Sanlin Station) is not a railway station but a metro station in Shanghai Metro the cardinal direction in Shanghai Metro are in front not on the back. Also WP:NC-ZH should not apply to metro stations. If WP:NC-ZH does apply to metro station than there is a a lot of of fix for other metro stations in China:
The guideline applies to all stations, which includes metros. I know there are a number of corrections needed, I have done some as I've come across the them. What we don't want is for for there to be a bigger mess to clean up in the future so please stick with the guideline. Cheers.  Philg88 talk 05:26, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
