[edit]Hello, I'm Johnnie Bob. I noticed that you recently removed content from Albizia without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Johnnie Bob (talk) 02:03, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- 49.255.59.94, this is a reply to your response on my talk page (which should have been posted here), included below for completeness.
1) Falcataria falcata is not a species of Albizia. It's right there in the article title and species name. Therefore material on that species doesn't belong in the Albizia article.
2) It makes the article a confusing mess to have an entire section talking about a species that is clearly stated, within the article, to have no relationship with the article subject.
3) Wikipedia has a policy that it can not say both A and Not A, even in separate articles. Since it clearly says that F. falcata is in the genus Falcataria, both within the article on that species and within the Albizia article, it can not also say, even by confusing implication, that it is an Albizia.- Yet the article states:
- The delimitation of Falcataria and Pithecellobium, close relatives of Albizia, is notoriously complex, with species having been moved between the genera time and again, and this will likely continue. These include Falcataria falcata (the Moluccan albizia, formerly named Albizia moluccana), a common shade tree on tea plantations.
- Notwithstanding this, the main reason for my reverting your edit was that you did not adequately explain the reason for your edits in the edit summary. Better yet, you should probably have opened a thread in the article's talk page and sought consensus for the edit.
- You can try making the edit again (but beware of edit warring) and take your chances of another editor reverting your edit again. Cheers, Johnnie Bob (talk) 09:19, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Albizia, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. The removed material is properly referenced by a scholarly work and is relevant to the article. Please do not remove this material again without first opening a discussion on the article's talk page explaining in detail why you think its removal is justified and why the cited reference is not relevant or inapplicable.
