Sexual assualt allegation categories

[edit]

Hello 2603:7000:2143:8500:FC7B:594A:92FE:AB6C,

You've added the sexaul misconduct category to quite a few pages that don't mention anything about them. Is there a reason for this? Philipnelson99 (talk) 23:25, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. No worries. I was just doing some clean-up work. BTW, I'm not sure I know how to do it, but it would make loads of sense for there to be a SafeSport category. --2603:7000:2143:8500:FC7B:594A:92FE:AB6C (talk) 00:17, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How is Clare Bronfman a sports scandal? Also, her charges aren't allegation; she was convicted, so add "Category:People convicted of sex crimes". Magnolia677 (talk) 23:52, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On October 1, 2018, Bronfman was permanently banned by the United States Center for SafeSport, which investigates and issues sanctions to members of Olympic sports accused of sexual misconduct. This rendered her ineligible for any involvement with the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), which governs horse sports in the United States.
As to your suggested added category, how would she fit in that? What sex crimes was she convicted of?--2603:7000:2143:8500:FC7B:594A:92FE:AB6C (talk) 00:16, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
She was banned because she was convicted of sex trafficking. It had nothing to do with her sports career. Please stop adding unrelated categories, and please take a moment to read the articles you are editing so you can be sure you are adding the correct categories, if necessary. Thanks. • Two things. First, she was banned by SafeSport. Permanently. SafeSport banned her from the sport. Because sport is its focus. And if you have not noticed - there is a lot of focus on people being banned from sports. For the individual to be banned for life in a sport is about as extreme as it gets from a sports standpoint. Second, of course when someone convicts a crime outside of a sport, and it impacts their participating in the sport, we cover that as well. I'm not sure how you imagine otherwise. You're experienced, so surely you see this all over the place.
  • Second, I did read the article. And I note the difference between her charges, and what she was convicted of. You seem not to be noticing that. Am I wrong?
  • Happy to hear otherwise, if that is the case. 2603:7000:2143:8500:FC7B:594A:92FE:AB6C (talk) 00:32, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also - can you explain this. http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Rich_Fellers&diff=1072886364&oldid=1072882206 It seems clearly incorrect. Thanks. If we can't agree, as you seem to be deleting appropriate categories across the project, I would suggest we bring this to an appropriate board or page -- it's very odd to me for you to be doing this, and I can't begin to understand it.2603:7000:2143:8500:FC7B:594A:92FE:AB6C (talk) 00:46, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
At Rich Fellers, the only thing the article says is "In July 2021, the United States Center for SafeSport ruled Fellers ineligible to participate in the sport, in connection with a criminal indictment." Yet you added the category "Sexual misconduct allegations", which wasn't even mentioned in the article. Moreover, a "criminal indictment" is not a "sports controversy" or a "sports scandal". Just because SafeSport--a much criticized non-profit--bans someone, does not automatically make it a controversy or a scandal on Wikipedia. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:08, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, this was my initial concern. I wasn't able to properly check on this when I first brought it to the talk page. Philipnelson99 (talk) 16:36, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
