Your edits to The Beatles (album) page

[edit]

To be honest, I don't feel that the psychedelic music genre is noteworthy enough to be mentioned on The Beatles (album) page, since there are very few tracks on the album that are truly psychedelic. Aside from 'Glass Onion', 'Long, Long, Long', and 'Across the Universe', I don't think there are any Beatle tracks from 1968 that truly fit the term 'psychedelic'. 'Wild Honey Pie' is currently considered psychedelic by its article page, though I'm unsure if I agree with it being psychedelic or if I think it is just experimental. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:55, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I completely understand, I was just simply trying to add in information that would be accurate to the subject. I by no means was trying to start an edit war, and I didn't think to look at the messages you sent either. The album does indeed have psychedelic influences in some of the songs which prompted me to edit the information on the album page. The song pages such as 'Dear Prudence' and the other songs you mentioned (except 'Across the Universe' which was on the Let It Be album) have the psychedelic genres listed on their pages which further inspired me to edit. On the The Beatles(album page) (under the "Genres and lengths" section) it even lists the psychedelic music genre with the other music genres, which was another major reason that prompted me to edit the page.
I hope you understand where I'm coming from, and I truly did not mean to cause any trouble.
Cheers! 208.79.9.253 (talk) 08:20, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We have a guideline at WP:EXPLICITGENRE which says that the listed genres must be explicitly supported by cites which directly target the topic. We should not be interpreting a musical influence or element as the main genre. Album genres should come from album reviews, not from a collection of song reviews. Artist genres should come from artist reviews, not from individual songs or albums. Song genres should come from song reviews, not from the album in general or the artist in general. This keeps us in line with WP:Verifiability. Binksternet (talk) 06:39, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand you perfectly, and I will make sure that the information that I edit in will come from more accurate sources in the future. Thank you for letting me know what I did wrong, and I will double check on the information that I edit in on Wikipedia from now on. 208.79.9.253 (talk) 07:31, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
