Disambiguation link notification for December 12
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sylvia Denton, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page FRCN. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Women in Red
[edit]Hi there, 101TAD, and thank you for creating three interesting biographies of women. I see you already support the Nurses in Red project but you might also like to become a member of Women in Red where we are trying to improve Wikipedia's coverage of women. You can sign up under "New registrations" on Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/New members. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 06:53, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, Happy New Year. I've signed up to Women in Red, thank you for the nudge. Thanks also for the feedback on the new biographies - I'm relatively new to writing complete articles - I've tended to edit existing ones. I'm hoping to highlight more nurses in the coming year. Nursing in the UK has remained approx 90% female since registration began in the 1920s, so most of my articles will be of women. Our little Nurses in Red group has got off to a flying start already for 2024 so we're hoping to create much better visibility for the history of nursing & of nurses. Onwards! Ipigott (talk) 07:44, 9 January 2024 (UTC)</nowiki> 101TAD (talk) 12:34, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for signing up and welcome to the project. In connection with new biographies, if you have not already done so you might find it useful to look through our Primer. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing and all the best for 2024.--Ipigott (talk) 07:44, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your edit on the above. Regarding your message on your user page: wow, that is good news! Please could you kindly look at the following? I mean in the original printed mag, of course; the microfilm of the pic in this link is rubbish:
- "Miss M.E. Sparshott". The British Journal of Nursing. 39: 130. 17 August 1907. Retrieved 7 September 2023.
That page has a picture of her in a rather striking matron's or nurse's hat, and it would be a wonderful thing to have on the article. If you don't like uploading pictures to Commons, you could email it to me and I'll upload it? It needs to be the biggest scan that your machine can do (I usually do scans for Commons at 900-size). I ask that, because then I could additionally extract fairly good pictures of just her face, her face and hat, or whatever, for Commons. I hope you don't mind me asking you to do this; I'm sure you are very busy. Storye book (talk) 09:45, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there - thanks for the feedback, I'm supporting a small group of volunteer nurses who are working on historic nurses and have been sucked in to volunteering as well. It's addictive! I'm sorry, but the original image is rubbish. I know because it's in the collection I work with. We only have the newspaper copy - not an original photograph. (the original newspaper was owned by 'rivals' to the RCN being edited by Ethel Gordon Fenwick). You can see a screen shot here: https://bsky.app/profile/dohertyta.bsky.social/post/3lbr7o3izjs2a I don't know if Manchester Archives have an image of her? Thank you for the clear and well-reference biography of Grace Margery Westbrook. From here, it would be helpful to link this page from others, so that readers can more easily navigate to it.

[edit]Hi 101TAD. Thank you for your work on Nurses Salaries Committee. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thanks for creating this new article. For future articles, focus the start of the lead on the topic as quickly as possible (so, I've inverted the order of the first few sentences to do this), so that readers can quickly identify the topic. Having sections helps navigation, and also helps to separate off the 'lead' from the rest of the text; this is helpful for various abstracting services or methods.

Klbrain (talk) 12:45, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Klbrain: Many thanks for the positive feedback! I'm still relatively new so these comments on style are really useful. It's hard remembering all the bits that go together to make a strong article. 101TAD (talk) 10:15, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi 101TAD. Thank you for your work on National Council of Nurses of the United Kingdom. Another editor, Storye book, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thank you for this article, which I found very interesting, having created a couple of British matron articles myself. I have given it a copyedit: punctuation before citations, please. I look forward to seeing more articles created by you.

- @Storye book: Thanks for your feedback - I'm still relatively new, so have not quite embedded some of the house-style ways of working. It's really helpful to have pointers along the way. The RCN History of Nursing Forum now have a 'Nurses In Red' group to increase and improve wikipedia articles on HistNursing in the UK. Hopefully you'll see some more from me and the rest of the group! 101TAD (talk) 13:00, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- You are welcome. I have added the logo which the combined RCN and NCN used between 1963 and 1973. However if you can source the NCN's original logo (preferably published before 1930), that would be better. Storye book (talk) 11:02, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- thanks for the logo - looks smart! None of the newspaper articles that I've seen have the logo. I'll keep an eye out for it. I've done a couple of organisations and logos are a good image - I hadn't thought of that. Useful tip. 101TAD (talk) 13:35, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
