Hi there, and welcome to the English Wikipedia. I notice you have quite an interest in Chemistry-related content; perhaps you would like to drop by the Wikiprojects Chemicals and Chemistry to meet like-minded people? --Rifleman 82 (talk) 01:35, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Nice work, in general, with your recategorizations. Be careful with Category:Organochloride insecticides, though. Just because something is an insecticide and an organochloride, that doesn't mean it's an "organochloride insecticide". That term has traditionally been reserved for insecticides like DDT, Lindane, and Cyclodienes which lack reactive functionality and tend to persist in the environment. CfD nomination of Category:Pyrazolodiazepine

[edit]

I have nominated Category:Pyrazolodiazepine (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. • Peace on who follows the truth. I am not with you in deleting the category:Pyrazolodiazepines. I made this category without respect to the pharmacological effect. Thanks alot. --حسن علي البط 14:32, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Categories

[edit]

Good work on adding categories to the various chemical articles, keep it up. Cheers, C6541 (TC) 21:57, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Biguanides category

[edit]

I disagree with the classification of category:Biguanides as category:Anti-diabetic drugs and hence the removal of the latter category from Metformin and others. This is conflating the structural aspect of the compound (it is a biguanide) with the medical usage (anti-diabetic drug). Compounds within the same structural family of drugs will not all share the same medical properties (or if they do, share them to different degrees) and hence will not all be used for the same purpose. I request you remove the category:Anti-diabetic drugs from category:Biguanides and restore the category:Anti-diabetic drugs to the relevant drugs having that indication. Colin°Talk 09:58, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that Category:Policyclic organic compounds is misnamed, please don't empty it out of process. In stead:

  1. Add a {{subst:cfr|Polycyclic organic compounds}} to Category:Policyclic organic compounds.
  2. Add the following line to the page you get to from this link, replacing the text "Your reason(s) for the proposed rename" with your reason for renaming the category.:
{{subst:Cfr2|Policyclic organic compounds|Polycyclic organic compounds|text='''Rename'''. Your reason(s) for the proposed rename. ~~~~}}

Hi there

Thanks for your work categorizing compounds. I've reverted your change for this article because it is a coordination compound, not an organometallic (or organocobalt) compound. Organometallic compounds require at least one M-C bond, or are involved in forming such bonds in its applications. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 22:14, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Organoaluminium compounds

[edit]

Thank you for all the categorization of chemical compounds that you have been doing. I just wanted to let you know that I have reverted a bunch of your edits related to category:organoaluminium compounds. That category should only be for compounds that have a carbon-aluminium bond, not necessarily every organic compound that contains an aluminium atom. (The same is true for other organometallic categories, too.) -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:19, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hoping you might be able to help, re. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Roboty - most of the references are in Arabic, and I'm not sure if it meets the notability criteria or not, and if they are appropriate reliable sources.

I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look. Thanks,  Chzz  ►  23:39, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Overspecialized categories

[edit]

I notice that you have created many categories for chemical compounds that are so overspecialized that they contain only 1 or 2 articles and are unlikely to ever contain more. This is generally considered unhelpful. Before creating any more categories for chemical compounds, please get consensus for doing so at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals. Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:24, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am concerned that your continuing efforts to create overspecialized categories has become disruptive. Could you please contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Chemicals#More_overspecialized_categories? Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 01:15, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please check out Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals. I also oppose your categorization efforts. In my opinion, despite your good intentions, this activity of yours is unhelpful (i.e. damaging).--Smokefoot (talk) 14:05, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, counting here, count me as number three opposing the overcategorisation that you are doing. I saw on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals that also others are opposing this overcategorisation. I am sorry, I am asking you to a) stop immediately, b) revert the new creations and c) discuss before even considering to continue. Please consider this as a final request. Thank you. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:04, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Categorisation 2

[edit]

You initially changed here a compound from an amide to an aldehyde, which was followed by another change so now it is in yet another too specific category. Really, that compound is a formamide, but calling it an amide is more than specific enough.

Seen that there is no consensus for category changed, I have now proposed community sanctions against this overcategorisation. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals#Again ..Categories. I am sorry, but I feel that this now really has to stop. I hope this explains. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:46, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked you to stop overcategorisation, and I notice that a) you did not even take the effort to respond to that request or any questions asked, and b) you continue with it. The last discussion that was mentioned in my previous remark ended in the conclusion that the overcategorisation should stop, and a proposed change ended in the same conclusion, leave it at the old scheme.

This is your final warning - as goes for others, DISCUSS your intended category chances, and only implement them when you have consensus.. --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:43, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note that you will have your edit privileges revoked immediately and without further notice if you continue. DMacks (talk) 13:45, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • this edit is after this warning on your talkpage. This means that you, at the very least, have seen the orange banner, and likely also your talkpage. I don't know if you read this thread, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt (you should have reverted your last edit yourself after reading this thread and start discussing) and assume that that edit resulted in you getting the orange banner (though I expect you saw it when you loaded EA-3167 ...). Let it be clear, the next categorisation/recategorisation is going to result in a block. Regards. --Dirk Beetstra T C 14:53, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The thread that brought us here, again, is Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Chemicals#Suggested new categories. I really suggest that you read that, and notice that there is significant resistance against the (re-)categorisations that are pushed through. Other editors have been receiving similar warnings (there are threads higher up on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Chemicals regarding that, and in the archives. Whatever, there is no consensus to change, and there may also not be a consensus to keep it like it is (or maybe it is not good enough as it is). But pushing the change through while there is resistance is NOT the way forward. Consider to write out a scheme, and discuss that. If that scheme gets enough support, then, and only then, it can be implemented. --Dirk Beetstra T C 15:23, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Valerates

[edit]

Hi. Forgive my total ignorance on the subject but is there supposed to be a difference between Category:Valerates and Category:Valearates? Even the term valearate appears to (the ignorant) me as a typo of valerate. If that's the case, we shouldn't keep Category:Valearates around and I don't understand why you would empty and blank the category yet specifically instruct administrators to leave it alone. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 12:57, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I tagged the category for speedy deletion. Should be done soon. Pichpich (talk) 15:02, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stop categorization

[edit]

Chemistry categories

[edit]

Please stop creating new chemistry categories without first getting consensus from one of the chemistry wikiprojects. You've been blocked in the past for disruptive overcategorization of chemicals contrary to consensus, and I'd rather not see that again. Specifically, do not create categories which apply to very few existing articles (Category:Pyrazinoquinoxalines, Category:Chromenoindenoindols, Category:Ketotrioses, etc.). Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:28, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please be more careful regarding categorization.

[edit]

Please remember that compounds containing certain structure don't necessarily belong in the category for compound with a related structure. For example quinones generally shouldn't be lumped together with hydroquinones or the related aromatic rings, and it's confusing to put saturated or partially saturated versions of compounds in the category for the unsaturated ones. Also if you take something out of a category please give at least a short explanation as to why you did so in the edit summary. Okay? If you disagree with me, please let me know why. I'm open to further discussions. Please respond. --OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 00:51, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
