Hello!
Thank you for the editing tutorial. It was concise and helped clear some ambiguities I initially had about Wikipedia editing. This is a great community for newbies like me to get started on their editing journeys.
Thank you for the help, I'll definitely look into the above resources if I get stuck somewhere down the line. آسمان پر ستارے۔ (talk) 10:46, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Commas in dates

[edit]

Hi, if a date is DAY/MONTH/YEAR in format, there is no comma between month and year. I.E. it is "7 April 2023" not "7 April, 2023". Stop adding this extra comma. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 18:34, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gaia,
My apologies for the unnecessary edit. I was mistaken about the date format but thanks for the correction. I'll keep my eyes open next time.
Sorry again :) آسمان پر ستارے۔ (talk) 20:06, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

April 2023

[edit]

I can not interpret edits in which you request citations to the data already cited in the articles [1], [2] other than the inflation of edit count. Please stop immediately. Ymblanter (talk) 18:20, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!
I apologize for the unnecessary edits. I completely understand why it may have come across as a means of inflating my edit count but rest assured, I was trying to contribute in good faith. I went a bit overboard with my inappropriate use of the ''citation needed'' template as I am a rookie editor and still learning the art of wiki editing. Thank you for bringing my attention to the fact that I was doing it all wrong. Needless to say, I'll be more vigilant next time.
My sincere apologies again. آسمان پر ستارے۔ (talk) 20:31, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hi, آسمان پر ستارے۔, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question.

However, there is a small issue with your username. As it is not in Latin script, it may not display correctly for many other users. Although usernames like yours are not prohibited, Wikipedia's signature guideline and username policy encourage you, as a courtesy to other users, to alter your signature so that it also includes a transliteration of your username using Latin characters, so others can see it correctly. For the how-to of tailoring your username, please see WP:CUSTOMSIG.

Thanks, and feel free to message me about anything. Peaceray (talk) 00:24, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello آسمان پر ستارے۔! Your additions to The influence of the internet on the printing industry have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. ASUKITE 16:59, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Asukite,
I deeply appreciate your message and the guidance you have provided regarding copyright and plagiarism. I genuinely apologize for the oversight on my part and for unknowingly violating the guidelines. I want to assure you that I have now read and thoroughly understood the policies in place to prevent copyright infringement.
I am truly remorseful for any inconvenience caused and for not being aware of the specific guidelines related to adding content from external sources. Moving forward, I will exercise utmost caution to ensure that all my contributions are within the boundaries of copyright regulations. I value the integrity and standards upheld by Wikipedia, and I am committed to upholding them in my future interactions.
Thank you once again for taking the time to inform me about this matter, and please be assured that I will make every effort to comply with the guidelines and contribute to Wikipedia in a respectful and responsible manner آسمان پر ستارے۔ (talk) 11:48, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
