Information icon Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to War in Donbass. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. RGloucester 17:56, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, explain to me how I was being biased. I wrote in the infobox "Russia (alleged)". So far there is no credible evidence of Russian involvement. General Viktor Muzhenko, Chief of Generat Staff of Ukraine, has even stated that there are no Russian Army units in Ukraine, only Russian individuals who volunteered in the militias. So it should just be Russian volunteers listed in the infobox in the foreign volunteers section. Putin and other leaders shouldn't be listed anywhere other than the infobox on the Crimean crisis article. —Славянский патриот (talk) 05:51, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Congolese Republican Guards in Kinshasa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Congolese Republican Guards in Kinshasa.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:53, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Flag use in info boxes

[edit]
Hi there. It is generally the case that infobox sections no longer use flags, and it is discouraged. Please see MOS:FLAG infobox section. If there is a seperate user list, usually at bottom of article, it still appears acceptable to use. But infobox use is reverted. Regards! Irondome (talk) 03:58, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, as you did at Talk:Assassination of Boris Nemtsov, you may be blocked from editing.
Do not refactor talk page comments impersonating other editors!
Iryna Harpy (talk) 22:55, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What? When did I do that? You asked me to give you comments of people who were saying Putin did the murder, so since you for some reason could not do that on your own, I copied and pasted the exact comments posted by the users, which you can see for yourself by looking above. (in quotation marks, signifying I am quoting the person). I literally copied and pasted what they wrote above, as you asked me to. Refrain from making up random, nonsensical lies, thank you. If this is supposed to be some kind of sick joke, it is not funny. If you disagree with my assessment of the issue, feel free to challenge with me over it by presenting some evidence and analysis, like I did. but please refrain from trying to get me banned from editing by making up complete nonsense. Thank you. —Славянский патриот (talk) 03:29, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You do not, repeat not, copy and paste chunks of other editors' comments along with their signatures into an indecipherable WP:WALLOFTEXT of 'quotes' you've taken from who knows where as a response! Please read WP:TALK paying particular attention to WP:TALKNO and WP:Signature forgery. Also, remember to WP:SIGN your comments.
I would suggest that you read Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual/Collaborating with Other Editors/Communicating with Your Fellow Editors as you do seriously need to familiarise yourself with how talk pages are used lest you create further problems for yourself. Thank you for your attention. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:58, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
All of those have nothing to do with this due to the fact that I copied them from the same exact page, which you can see for yourself (why did you even ask me for them in the first place?) It's no forgery, as, again, you can see for yourself. Thank you. —Славянский патриот (talk) 04:17, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Use Template:Tq and/or refer to Template:Diff for pointing to relevant comments. I repeat, do not include an editor's signature. Your comment style falls into WP:TL;DR as is. No contributor is under obligation to try and decipher text you've cut & pasted, then stuck together in a slab.
Also, a note for your user page: don't use Template:Infobox officeholder. That is for articles, not for user pages. Please read instructions carefully. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:30, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you're not under obligation then ignore it. And what defines "too long"? I think it's not long at all and the text is quite clear, it doesn't need to be "deciphered". And why not use infobox officeholder, what does it matter? It seems like there is a lack of consistency and logic here. —Славянский патриот (talk) 04:43, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Question 1: it's disruptive for other contributors. Question 2: read the information about use of "infobox officeholder" as it explains why it should not be used anywhere other than articles. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:56, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's nice

[edit]

I suppose you'll have an easy time rounding up reliable sources to independently interpret the notability of that clip, rather than deigning to do it yourself. Please review WP:V and WP:PRIMARY. -Kudzu1 (talk) 02:52, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

YouTube isn't a reliable source for Wikipedia's purposes. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:12, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Comparing RT to Western media outlets, which (unlike RT) are generally independent of the government and don't mindlessly parrot the official line, is a laughable cliche. Visit the reliable sources noticeboard if you have questions or concerns about the definition of a reliable source and whether YouTube or RT qualify. As I said before, if this is truly notable and other sources are reporting on it, you should be able to produce examples that are not Putin's RT. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:17, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Let's leave it to reliable secondary sources to draw conclusions. I can tell you I can come up with plenty of theories on my own as to why the Russian government, which currently has thousands of troops stationed in two neighboring countries in flagrant violation of international law (as reported by the preponderance of reliable sources, natch), has seized on a comment by a random Ukrainian official in its ongoing propaganda effort -- but Wikipedia is based on reliable secondary sources, and if you can't produce one, you have nothing. Again, review WP:V. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:20, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Again: take it up on the appropriate noticeboard. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:23, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I guess so. Thankfully, for the cause of factual information and common sense, your view is fringe and my view is couched in accepted Wikipedia policies and standards. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:32, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm done going back and forth with you on this, thanks. Once again, if you have some issue with the way things work on this website, take it up on the appropriate noticeboards. In more ways than one, I can't help you. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:45, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And good luck with your blind trust of the Russian government. I can think of some historical precedents that might bother you, but I'm sure if you use your imagination, you can come up with some on your own. Cheers. -Kudzu1 (talk) 03:52, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some more FARDC information

[edit]

Thankyou Slavinsky Patriot. Appreciate your hard work on the FARDC articles. We really need the decrees they talk of. It is my view that the updated list of service chiefs should be placed on the service branch articles, and I see you've made a start, at least for the Ground Forces. I have a little more info and can do a bit more. Was looking at your userpage and was intrigued by a few userboxes. I'd be interested to hear why you think the UN should be dissolved... Kind regards Buckshot06 (talk) 04:35, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to have you on the team - I'm also a monarchist. However, the UN includes a very great number of monarchies (like my own) so I'm not entirely clear how dissolving it would help. But never mind... Buckshot06 (talk) 04:48, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thankyou for your participation in the challenge series or/and contests. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:01, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
