Source
[edit]Hi Βατο, hope you're well. I just came across this source, and thought it might be of interest to you:
- Archaeological Investigations in a Northern Albanian Province - Results of the Projekti Arkeologjik i Shkodrës (PASH): Volume One: Survey and Excavation Results · Volume 1 (2023). [1]
I don't know if you've seen it already, but if not, it looks like it contains content which you seem to enjoy working with. Thanks. Botushali (talk) 03:44, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Botushali:, I have already seen and used that source in some wiki articles, it is interesting indeed. Thanks anyway! – Βατο (talk) 18:32, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
July 2024
[edit]hey there, I noticed you recently deleted some of my image contributions (http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Arb%C3%ABresh%C3%AB_people&diff=prev&oldid=1233671007) without providing a clear reason why; i'm not assuming negative intent I would just like to know the reason behind the removal as I think those were valid contributions. Maybe this is something we can discuss in the talk page before going ahead and removing it? No hard feelings. Thank you Brikcity (talk) 12:58, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Brikcity:, thanks for your contributions. I removed the flag from the infobox simply because it represents only the Arbëreshë of Piana degli Albanesi, while that article generally deals with all the Arbëreshë people of Italy. As for the second image you added, I removed it because besides being little representative, it is a modern reconstruction without historical value. – Βατο (talk) 13:10, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- I see. Would this flag be more appropriate? File:Flag of Sicilian-Arbëreshë.svg
- Regarding the second picture, are modern depictions not allowed? The Arbereshe are not an extinct ethnolinguistic group as their churches and communities are still very active. The image (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sbarco_esuli_albanesi_in_Italia.jpg), from 1976, is in a local church and was made by a local artist - how could it be more representative? If modern images of peoples are allowed, why are modern depictions not allowed, especially if made by locals? Brikcity (talk) 14:45, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- This flag File:Flag of Sicilian-Arbëreshë.svg has similar issues. Generally in Wikipedia images that show the geographic presence of the population group are preferred in such infoboxes, and the current map seems to be good enough. If you want to add another image, you can propose it in the article's talk page, but in that case I would suggest to opt for a photography portraying actual people. – Βατο (talk) 16:09, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
Wikiproject
[edit]Hi, I see you've contributed a lot to Albanian epic poetry, would you be interested in a wikiproject on oral tradition? Kowal2701 (talk) 19:18, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Kowal2701: Hi, I would have liked your proposal, but I am no longer very active, so my contribution could be very limited. – Βατο (talk) 22:09, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- That’s okay, even just copy editing would be very useful, most of the articles have clean up tags Kowal2701 (talk) 06:25, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
New conference paper regarding Greek Persephone = Albanian Premte
[edit]@Βατο: Have you seen this? Apparently there will be a conference in September about many Indo-European topics in Basel, Switzerland. One of the papers is by Adam Hyllested, which will explore the relationship between Greek Persephone and Albanian Premte. Might be interesting to look forward to the definitive article. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 18:24, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- @KHR FolkMyth: thanks! Yes, I think it will be very interesting. – Βατο (talk) 19:48, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
Enji
[edit]Since Agni is mentioned in the articles that discuss the connection between Enji and Jupiter, maybe you might want to add there that Agni is also associated with thunders [2][3]. Cheers, Ktrimi991 (talk) 19:17, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Ktrimi991: thanks, that's interesting, I'll add it. – Βατο (talk) 19:34, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
Dodola
[edit]Sorry, there happened some misunderstanding on my part. Please finish editing your new revision in the next few days (finding, citing new reliable sources, but take in mind the old, stable revision from 9th August 2022). Then will make a review and editing. Thanks, sincerely Miki Filigranski (talk) 17:55, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Miki Filigranski: I added all the sources I found so far about the subject of that article and the main relevant information they provide. I think I'm not going to add new material in the next days. – Βατο (talk) 20:15, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

PhD Thesis about Armenian loanwords (isoglosses between Albanian, Armenian and Greek)
[edit]Hello, @Βατο:. Since you are the one expanding the Balkanic IE languages, there's this 2023 thesis about loanwords in Armenian. Chapter 4 goes over some isoglosses attested only between Greek, Albanian and Armenian - a subject matter you have touched upon in Palaeo-Balkan languages.

- Hello @KHR FolkMyth: it is very interesting. Also in the final chapter "Evaluation and outlook" the author provides new analyses and interpretations about the events from the Proto-Indo-European period to the IE migrations, also taking into account archaeogenetic studies. Thank you! Best regards – Βατο (talk) 17:32, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

Material about the Cadmus/Snake/Illyrian connection
[edit]Hello, @Βατο:. When researching etymological sources for the Balaur article, I've found an article by Sasel Kos about the Illyrian cult of the snake, with mentions of modern (at the time, since the article was published in 1991) practices in the Balkans of snake worship, and a French language thesis about the role of Cadmus as a foundational hero.

[edit]Hello, @Βατο:. I searching material for the balaur article, and found a book by Kosovan scholar Rexhep Ismajli about the development of Albanian in Balkanic context, including comparison to the common vocabulary between Romanian and Albanian.

- @KHR FolkMyth: thanks, I've already seen this one, also used in some Wikipedia articles. – Βατο (talk) 09:25, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
