Guidelines
[edit]- I don't speak out "scare quotes," though I do say "quote" and "unquote" at the beginning and end of longer quotes.
- I don't speak out punctuation during bits of quoted dialogue if it is clear to the listener when the quote starts and ends.
- I am not particularly careful to read word for word. Even in featured articles, there are sentences that have been mangled by the addition of one parenthetical statement too many. If I need to gloss a sentence so it reads more fluidly, I do so without making the change in the text.
- In general, I don't read figure captions, nor do I read infoboxen.
- I ignore all footnotes, though I do read "citation needed" notes as they appear.
