The Kentucky River Dog is a breed of wild dog. The name comes from the area these dogs have been known to habit, the Kentucky region. They enjoy wading in rivers, but do not fully submerge themselves.

The Kentucky River Dog is a stocky, well built, strong-looking dog, with a large head and a relatively muscular build. Its coat is medium length and generally smooth. The breed is a heavy shedder; however, they should be brushed on regular basis. Black pigmentation on the nose and eye rims is preferred, giving the appearance of heavy eye shadow. Eye color is usually brown
