The Israeli settler movement is a political, typically religious movement to protect all existing Israeli settlements in any territory
Many members of the movement advocate and organize to expand the settler enterprise sometimes into new areas. Such expansion is always in defiance of official Israeli government policy. but they often have the tacit support of the Netanyahu government.
Such expansion has characterized the Israeli occupied territories, and has continued at a steady pace since the 2000s
in the West Bank and the Golan Heights.
This includes so-called "outposts" which are considered illegal even by the State of Israel
