Conor Michael John Walsh (born November 12, 1997), known professionally as Conor Walsh, is an American singer, songwriter, producer, actor, radio host, and entertainment journalist.[1] He has released 3 studio albums, 2 studio EP's, 1 live EP, and several singles.[2] He is the former host and producer of St. Rose Rocks and Walsh Wednesday., and is the current host of Keepin' Company w/ Conor, In Touch, and Townsquare Spotlight.[3]
Over his career, Walsh has taken heavy influences from artists from the early 2000s and 2010s such as Matchbox Twenty, Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse (band), 3 Doors Down, Daughtry (band), Five for Fighting, Hootie & the Blowfish, Amos Lee, Passenger (singer), Ed Sheeran, Fall Out Boy, The All-American Rejects, and Green Day. He also admires Country artists such as Zac Brown Band, Eli Young Band, Luke Combs, Toby Keith, and Restless Heart. Some of his longest, and most enduring influences include Bob Seger, Meat Loaf, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Bon Jovi, Foreigner (band), Phil Collins, Journey (band), REO Speedwagon, Styx (band), and Jimmy Buffett.
Early Life
[edit]Walsh was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was the only child of Terence Michael Walsh (born 1961) and Loretta Macrillo Walsh (born 1961). For elementary and middle school, Walsh attended St. Peter's Catholic School in Hyde Park, New York. He later went to high school at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School (Hyde Park, New York).
Walsh then moved to Albany, New York to study music at The College of Saint Rose. There, he worked at several local music venues as a live sound engineer, usher, hospitality assistant, and booking manager. On campus, he was very active emceeing many live events and participating in several clubs such as the Music Industry Student Association, along with giving tours and sitting on admissions panels. Towards the end of his college career, he became the Director of Social Activities, as part of the Student Association. During the pandemic, he became the host of St. Rose Rocks and Walsh Wednesday.
After earning his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Music Industry at the College of Saint Rose, Walsh has been working in radio at Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley, hosting shows such as Keepin' Company w/ Conor, In Touch, and Townsquare Spotlight.
Awards & Accolades
[edit]Walsh has been the recipient of 3 Independent Music Network Award Nominations,[4] 3 NYSBA Excellence in Broadcasting Awards[5], and winner of PBS's Celebration of Music Talent Competition.[6]
Songs such as "Spend Some Time," "Yes," "Regret," "Dance With Me," and "My Eyes" have received radio airplay in multiple countries, including on local Hudson Valley radio stations such as 97.7/106.1 WEXT, Q92.1 Lite-FM, and KISS 96.1.
He has appeared on television programs like AHA! A House For Arts to promote his 2022 album, Always & Forever.[7]
In 2024, he featured in The Lifted Project’s “We Won’t Be Broken,” (labeled the “We Are the World” of New York) and will be included in the accompanying upcoming documentary.[8]
In regard to television, he worked as a background actor in the HBO Max series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.[9]
Following the pandemic, Walsh's theatrical credits include Massachusetts-based comedy troupe The Berserkshires, The CENTER for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck’s Little Shop of Horrors, and Core Theatre Group’s Rocky Horror Show where he played Eddie, made famous by the legendary Meat Loaf.
