Negative effect of Ecotourism

The problem with ecotourism is that it turns nature and environment to the commodity that people are interested to pay and visit them. When environment become product that may have profit then people try to advertise and sell it. Some of the ecotourism sites are turning to private sectors and government cut off their funding. Hence, they must make money on their own. Private natural parks and sites are looking for their own profit and they advertising about the soundness of natural parks or coastal marines in Caribbean and they try to show they are protecting nature. they managing to attract people are interested In eco-tourism. When they prioritize their profits they will focus more in the phenomenon that might be more interesting for tourists and neglect other aspects of nature that might be more rich and important ecologically. or even destroy them. For example in Montego Bay hotels cut sea-grass that appeared to drive back tourists, in the other hand they are really important for local nutrient cycles.

The other problem is that the companies try to hide the truth behind the ecotourism to maintain their profit. They don’t focus on the fact that travelling from other countries to the natural sites burn extensive amounts of fuel to travel by aircraft.

In Montego bay an Negril a huge amount of run-off release to the coastal water that is directly or indirectly from ecotourists. Hotels in Jamaica release much more waste water than a city. The tourists generate a lot of waste that end up in the coastal water. Indirect effect of ecotourism in Jamaica is that many people migrated to the town near natural site and the construction increased concluding to destroying environment.
