John Albert Wattenburg (born May 8, 1981)[1] is an American business owner and independent politician who ran for Governor of California in the 2018 gubernatorial election.[2] He received 4,973 votes in the primary, placing him ahead of American Solidarity Party member Desmond Silveira.[3] Wattenburg gained online attention for his official campaign statement being "Why not!"[4]
