I Should Have Listened
I should have listened
When you said the storms were coming
But the sun was shining
And the clouds were white.
I should have listened
But I set out anyway,
Into the sea,
Into the waves.
I should have listened
When you said to turn back
But the waters were not high
And the storm was not there
I should have listened
But I knew I could make it
I could reach my goal
I could claim my prize
The depths of the sea
Are now my only friend,
My ship is in pieces.
I should have listened.
