The Society for the Study of Motivation (SSM) is a non-profit international organization of researchers who study motivation. Its mission is to encourage inquiry into all aspects of motivation from a variety of disciplines and perspectives. For this end, the SSM holds annual meetings, provides online information exchange and disseminates motivation science research findings to a broad scientific audience.

The current President (2011-2012) is Richard Sorrentino (University of Western Ontario), the President-Elect is Rex A. Wright (University of Alabama, Birmingham), and the immediate Past-President is Larry C. Bernard (Loyola Marymount University.

The 4th Annual Meeting was held in affiliation with the Annual Convention of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) on the 26th of May 2011 in the Washington Hilton Hotel, Washington, DC.[1]

Journals

The Society for the Study of Motivation (SSM) is the official sponsor of Motivation and Emotion--a peer-review journal published by Springer Science+Business Media.[2]
