I was a plant physiologist (Cornell PhD, 1963) and was professor at Cal State Pomona for 27 years. After retirement in 1990 my wife and I moved to the Eastern Sierra where we became active in local natural history groups. I developed an interest in the lives of bygone botanists who had an association with Eastern Sierra flora, and wrote several essays on them (and other topics) for group newsletters and my website. In 2014 we moved to northern California, where I was glad to have the opportunity to once again learn a new flora and history.
I greatly admire, and am grateful for, Wikipedia - its content and contributors. (If only certain social media had had a similar philosophy and foundation.) My interest here is to add, or add to, biographies of naturalists of interest to me.
