Jennifer Hill Singer/Songwriter

[edit]

Jennifer Hill

Jennifer Hill Born November 8th 1977,Hartford Ct. A 5 ft ball of energy with a voice to match, she has gained world wide recognition for her efforts as a pianist, talented songwriter and mentor. She is a member of A.S.C.A.P as well as a college educated musician. She has shared the stage with many notable musicians and has lent her voice to many projects from film (The Walkaways) to commercial jingles, and also acts as a promoter for many other talented women from the east coast.

From attending the prestigious HARTT School of music, to honing her craft in NYC's lower east side, Jennifer Hill has made herself known as both an outstanding vocalist/pianist and musical activist on the Indie Scene. Her band Jennifer Hill and Co. is a mix of rock, pop, alternative, and blues…and her solo work is a menage of uptempo piano pieces and brooding melodies with lyrics inspired by love, life, loss and the messed up things life has to offer.

She has been compared to the vocal range of Lady Gaga along with the piano soul of Fiona Apple with a touch of Carol King and a sprinkle of Blondie making love to Pink Floyd. She can either rock you with a full band or bring you to tears (in a good way) with just her voice and the keys.

The sound is Pop with a definite Alternative, blues, rock and cabaret influence. It gets as bawdy as a piano speak easy and as beautiful as a Tori Amos descant. With Jennifer on Keys and synths and bob on percussion and backing, they can get lush and dreamy or start a speak easy piano vibe. The cello (guest Jeff Chen) adds in the perfect mix of creepy to help make this musical martini just what you need to feel a bit tipsy.

The band's influences range from The Beatles, Massive Attack, Bjork, Ben Folds, Pink Floyd, Fiona Apple, Blondie, Madonna,Sarah Vaughn, Esthero, Led Zeppelin to...everything you can possibly think of. These music geeks have been doing it all their lives and classical music is just as relevant to their music as is B.B King's Indianola Mississippi Seeds Album.

"She's like Lou Reed mixed with Fiona Apple with Vaudvillian sound on the keys" (Hartford Advocate 2013)

One reader of the Hartford Advocate described her "like a twisted Fiona Apple with a little more spunk"...the Advocate's remark was "Now, Fiona's pretty twisted already,(this is the girl who said she's "break a boy just because she can,")..."So it's easy to see why Jennifer Hill and Co. stick in people's minds" (Hartford Advocate 2009)

Jennifer is also a musical advocate and mentor. She is a vocal coach for national touring bands and also teaches private students that are all making music a life goal. Teaching the future is something she is passionate about and she is known as someone who not only ets results with her methods but as someone her students look up to and love. Music is her gift and her curse.
