Appearance
The aromas they give off are from the volatile organic compounds' secretion. Those are synthesized in cells located in the vegetative apparatus of these plants (when they are secreted at the level of flowers, we then speak of perfume plant).

[edit]Aromatic herbs are plants cultivated in vegetable gardens or in vegetable crops' fields for their aromatic, condimentary or medicinal qualities. The term "herbs" can be applied to all aromatic herbs, but refers more specifically to a mixture of four of them: chives, chervil, parsley and tarragon or pimprenelle.

- Alliacées : garlic, onion, chives, chives, shallots...
- Apiacées : angelica, caraway, chervil, fennel, parsley...
- Lamiacées : lemon balm, mint, basil...
