Welcome to my humble userpage, that I have set up at last so that people seeing my edits can understand a bit of my personality, opinions, interests and general reliability (much of the latter must be assumed as the result of an educate guess, anyway). This page is not, however, intended to be authoritative. Go see my my home page in Portuguese if you want to know more about me.

I was born in 1973, a particularly good year for music. The son of a poor landowner, I had slim chances of ever getting to have a Wikipedia user page but The Underlying Power of the Universe did not let me behind -- and so
here I am, still making myself.
My professional life has been uneven, I have mostly worked at banks, but I managed to get a degree on History which helped me make my ends meet for some time when I was fired from the bank in 2000. This was a very exciting and influential experience.
My personal life has been a bit more interesting, filled with unusual experiences: I have studied at a public school, dated women both older and younger than me, have been circumcised, and eventually married and had children. I have also I have owned a Volkswagen Beetle, two times and spent some time in Spain in a Student exchange program.
Tastes, preferences, dislikes
[edit]
Like most Brazilians, I live in a rented house and dream of eventually buying myself a new car. Talking about Religion, I was born a catholic (though now I don't even believe in Chuck Norris) and have been to a Spiritist centre more than once. Presently, this user worships the Invisible Pink Unicorn and support Galo! It should be also added that Christmas depresses me and that I am not fond of Pork. My favourite food is plain-old rice-and-beens, and I am very fond of cheese and its supreme derivation, Cheese bun.
I have a lot of habits, some of them typical of Brazilians, some not quite so. Like most Brazilians I take at least one shower a day -- and I actually enjoy it. I watch Globo TV, eat Pizza more than it would be healthy and drink my beer ice-cold. I am not particularly fond of cachaça but will not say no to a good one. I read a newspaper at least once a week, usually Jornal do Brasil, and a magazine, usually IstoÉ, once a week. As a History teacher, I am interested in the past. I remember using six currencies in my lifetime and kept for some time a stamp collection. Like most Brazilians I don't remember the prices of things before 1994.
My cultural tastes are not usual: I own quite many books and lots of records. I like listening to music and similar noises. I particularly hate Carnaval, Hip-hop and Funk carioca, because they hurt my ears and are asinine. Instead of just reading popular magazines, I have some intellectual pursuits, like poetry, fiction and blogging.
I have taught myself Linux, HTML, LaTeX, Sex, Beer, Football rules, Cascading Style Sheets. On the other hand, I have given up trying to learn dancing, singing, playing football, lying and understanding women to a safe extent (but I like the thrill I get from trying).
