Fwayo Tembo (born 02 May 1989 in Lusaka[3]) is a Zambian football player who currently plays for FC Basel.[4][5] He grew up in the shanty compound of Lusaka, Mtendere.
Career
[edit]Tembo began his career with Lusaka Edusport and signed in January 2006 for National Assembly F.C..[6] In December 2007 left the club and signed for Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 club Étoile du Sahel.[7]
On 29 May 2010, he left the Tunisian club and signed for FC Basel of the Swiss Super League[4][8] for 2 million Euros. He made his debut on 20 July 2010 in the 3:2 home win against FC Zürich.[9] He scored his first goal for the club on the 14th of August during the 1:4 home defeat against FC Luzern.[10]
International career
[edit]Tembo played for a Zambia Youth Selction team in 2006 and in the 2007 African Youth Championship.[4] He was the topscorer of the Championship with 5 goals.[1]
He played in the Zambia national under-20 football team during the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup[11] in Canada, scoring a goal from the penalty spot in the game against Jordan on 1 July 2007.[12]
Fwayo Tembo played for the Zambia national football team the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
