Bibliography

This is where you will compile the bibliography for your Wikipedia assignment. Please refer to the following resources for help:

The main weak point of this article is the "Early Life" section. This is due to it focusing a bit too much on Conrad and then switching back over to Manfred. This section also has a dead link, so removing that link would be best since there is a citation that is meant to replace the link. It otherwise does a good job of staying neutral and providing any necessary information to gain a better understanding of who Manfred was and his importance.

Dante shows respect towards Manfred's lineage as he is often referenced in conjunction with his father, Emperor Frederick. [1] This gives better insight on Manfred's placement in Purgatorio. Despite Manfred's excommunication from the church, his punishment is relatively less intense than other sinners mentioned in the Divine Comedy. His time in purgatory is argued to be seen as a symbol of hope given that Manfred's final phrase in purgatory is "ha fior del verde", which is paraphrased as death not eliminating hope so long as even a bit of hope is there.[2] It is important to note that Manfred was never given a proper burial due to his excommunication, such that being refused burial in sacred ground contributed to him being in ante-purgatorio.[3]
