Valentina Karatajūtė-Talimaa (born 7 December 1930) is a Lithuanian geologist and paleontologist.[1]

She wrote a reference text on the biostratigraphy of the Devonian and Silurian strata, with thelodonts as index fossils.[2] Karatajūtė-Talimaa participated in many paleontological and geological expeditions.[1] Karatajūtė-Talimaa is an honourary member of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology and the Lithuanian Geological Society.[1][2]

Karatajūtė-Talimaa studied at Vilnius University, and graduated in 1954.[1] Karatajūtė-Talimaa was awarded the J. Dalinkevičius Prize in 2003 for her contributions towards research in Lithuanian stratigraphy, and research on the oldest Paleozoic vertebrates.[2] Her research accounts discoveries of Antiarchi, Thelodonts and Chondrichthyes primarily in northern Eurasia.[2] Karatajūtė-Talimaa identified over 100 new species.[2] Karatajūtė-Talimaa has written over 180 scientific articles.[1]
