Greetings!
I never know what to put on my user page so I guess I will just introduce myself.
Well, my name is Joel and I was named after the minor prophet in the Hebrew scriptures.
I am sixteen years old, I was born on the 5th March, 1993 and I was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
I have a small family consisting of my parents and my two siblings (an older sister and brother).
I live in a small village called Thurnscoe and have lived there for 16 years, I've never moved house and will probably stay in Thurnscoe until university.
Growing up I was a Jehovah's Witness, but I am now an agnostic atheist.
I've always been an inquisitive child, and that in addition with my parents' encouragement has allowed me to develop a wide variety of interests.
My first major interest was in archaeology, I suppose that because of my religious upbringing I've always had an interest in things that are ancient or things of religious worth. In fact, my first dream job was to become an archaeologist, I craved knowledge on buried treasures, fossilized creatures of the past, and long forgotten remnants of societies long since vanished.
My love of archaeology ties in nicely with a renewed adoration of history, ever since I can remember I've always enjoyed learning about the past, whether it be from the Bible, textbooks, theses, anything I could find I would read obsessively until I knew all I could about that topic. My favourite aspects of history are ancient civilisations (mainly the Greeks and the Romans), modern world history (particularly WWII and the Cold War), and East Asian history, having said that I'll read almost anything history related.
The second of my "cardinal interests" if you will is music, I absolutely love music in all its forms. My favourite type of music is definitely the kind with meaningful lyrics with either a general or special relevance.
With my father's encouragement I've been learning guitar (slowly) for a few years now without any considerable improvement.
The last of my "trinity" is language. It's hard for me to explain my love of language, but language has woven my future together, everything I do of late is something involving language, my dream job involves it, if I hadn't have discovered my love of language, I wouldn't have had any real muse to work towards. I love writing whether it be lyrics, poetry, or short stories, I also love learning language, reading, and the history of language, and how it has evolved throughout the Earth's history.
