Everard de Jong was born in Eindhoven 4-7-1958, and went to the Henricus elementary school from 1964-1970, to lower technical college from 1970-1973, to the middle technical college from 1973-1976. He then went to the Seminary Rolduc in Kerkrade (NL) from 1976-1982. He was ordained a deacon on sept. 18th 1982 and a priest on may 28th 1983. He was working in the parish of Maasbracht (NL), till 1984, were he went to study in Rome at the Angelicum, where he got his licentiate in philosophy in 1986, with a thesis on the possibility of intersubjectivity in Immanuel Kant. He moved to study at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, where he got his doctorate in philosophy in 1989, on the scientific methodology of Galileo Gallilei, compared to that of Zabarella. From 1989 till now he has taught philosophy at Rolduc seminary, and at other ecclesiastical faculties and seminaries. In 1995 he became assistant priest at the St. Servaas Church in Maastricht, and in 1996 student-chaplain in the same city. Dec. 12 1998 he was nominated auxiliary bishop of Roermond, and ordained a bishop on febr. 6th 1999. On june 2020 he became ordinary of the Dutch Army.
