Cityscape

[edit]

Oxnard is a combination of neighborhoods, and urban development focused on the downtown, coastline, and harbor areas.[1] The city's main land uses are industrial, residential, commercial, and open space.[2] The city is characterized by one and two-story buildings, the only exception being several high rises in the northern part of the city. The city is surrounded by agricultural land and the Pacific Ocean, as well as the Santa Clara River. The city's primary development lies along Highway 101 and the other main roads.[3]

The Henry T. Oxnard Historic District is a 70-acre (28 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Oxnard. Covering approximately F and G Sts., between Palm and 5th Sts., in the city, the district includes 139 contributing buildings and includes homes mostly built before 1925.[4] It contains Craftsman and Revival architecture in abundance.[5][6]

Ormond Beach is a beach along the Oxnard coast. The beach, which stretches for two miles,[7] adjoins the Ormond Wetlands, some farmland, and power plant remains. It covers the area in between Points Hueneme and Mugu, and is a well-known birding area. The beach historically contained marshes, salt flat, sloughs, and lagoons, but surrounding agriculture and industry have drained, filled, and degraded the beach and wetlands. However, there is still a dune-transition zone-marsh system along much of the beach.[8][9]

Political positions

[edit]

Political philosophy

[edit]

I consider myself to be a minor Republican. I have liberal views on human rights, reproductive rights, and the environment, but I have conservative views on economy, education, healthcare, immigration, gun control, and some other issues.

Economy

[edit]

Wealth and income inequality

[edit]

I believe that income inequality is a way of separating jobs into different categories, and motivating more people to join the more advancing jobs instead of the work force. However, income inequality between races, religions, and sexes must be ended.

Wage

[edit]

I support increasing the minimum wage to $15.00 an hour, which could help with healthcare.

Taxes

[edit]

I support implementing a flat tax, and removing budgets to the Department of Education until it is abolished. I also support abolishing the IRS.

I oppose the Marketplace Fairness Act, the estate tax, federal estate tax, gift tax, cutting budgets to the EPA, and the alternative minimum tax.

I support imposing a "deemed repatriation tax".

Wall Street

[edit]

I support breaking up the businesses that hold up the whole world's economy, because if they collapse, we'll be back to the Great Depression.

Trade

[edit]

I don't support the Export-Import Bank of the United States, or the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement.

Scope of government

[edit]

I support eliminating the Department of Education, Department of Commerce, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Education

[edit]

Education programs and organizations

[edit]

I do not support president George W. Bush Jr.'s No Child Left Behind. It is holding gifted children back in order to help less gifted children. I also don't like Every Student Succeeds Act, its replacement program, intended to keep it from being banished completely. Plus, any ideas gotten from Ryan Higa about No Child Running Ahead are out of the question.

I also don't support Race to the Top. It is a program not only promoting competition in between schools, which makes enemies, but also supporting an awful program, the Common Core State Standards Initiative.

I do not support Common Core. It is controlling the United States's education, and it is ruining the math education and math standards.

I don't like Head Start.

As mentioned above, I don't like the Department of Education, and I support eliminating the Teacher's Lobby's influence in the Democratic Party.

Classroom and social issues

[edit]

I support limited class sizes, the AP US History as a history course option, and "freedom of prose", which means that students may write anything they want, besides threats. I also support GATE, for gifted children who need the right to a good education. I don't support high-stakes testing, the A-F grading system, or corporal punishment in schools. They promote harsh and tense classroom environments. I also don't like community service hours, longer days, "sex segregation", having makeup days, structured recess, and school uniforms, for they violate human rights.

Behind the scenes issues

[edit]

I don't like free college tuition. Allowing it will flood the colleges with people who would otherwise be in the work force.

I really don't support immunization restrictions, dictated by laws like SB-277. They seriously violate the right to decide what goes in your body, and threaten the right to education.

I support school choice. Contrary to the Democrats, the Teacher's Lobby, and the Department of Education, I believe that public schools are over funded, and that charter schools, home schooling, and private schools are under funded. Plus, gifted children need the right to an appropriately challenging education.

Environment

[edit]

Fracking

[edit]

I support banning fracking.

The Allowance Trading System

[edit]

I support modifying it so the organizations can't trade allowances.

Pollution and gas emissions

[edit]

I support making electrical cars less expensive and easier to own, and I also support making more of them.

I support increasing pollution and gas emission restrictions, and the fines and other punishments for not obeying them. I also support using scrubbers, and cleaning up land, beaches, and water bodies like the ocean. As for the trash pile in the Pacific Ocean as large as Texas, that has to be cleaned up. I support clean air and clean water policies.

Alternative energy

[edit]

I support using alternative energy as opposed to fossil fuels. I am open to the ideas of banning fossil fuels, stopping ocean drilling, and destroying factories that pollute the environment or are nuclear.

Environmental organizations

[edit]

I support the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

Climate change

[edit]

I believe climate change is real, caused by both nature and humans, but mostly humans, and is a serious problem. I support rebuilding the ozone layer and decreasing gas emissions by a large amount.

Foreign policy

[edit]

Iranian nuclear deal

[edit]

I support withdrawing from the Iranian nuclear deal, for it is becoming dangerous for the United States.

Alliances, protection of foreign countries, and dual citizenship

[edit]

I support withdrawing from alliances from Israel, Japan, and Korea, to avoid the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. I am also opposed to protecting Germany unless they pay the US.

I only support dual citizenship with Canada and Britain.

Iraq

[edit]

I am opposed to invading Iraq.

I support Section II of Agenda 21, but oppose Sections I, III, and IV.

ISIS

[edit]

I support rescue missions and paying ransoms(to an extent), but I don't support sending in ground troops for anything but a rescue mission. I do support increasing the amount of airstrikes. I don't support sending journalists over to ISIS.

Immigration

[edit]
Illegal immigration
[edit]

I support getting rid of illegal immigrants.

Border security
[edit]

I support increasing border security, and adding in IQ testing before allowing people into the US.

Anchor babies
[edit]

I support getting rid of anchor babies and not allowing them.

Social policy

[edit]

Immunization-autism argument

[edit]

I believe that vaccines cause autism.

Campaign corruption

[edit]

I support not allowing organizations to spend as much as they want on candidates. I also support eliminating superdelegates.

I support leaving the decision of eminent domain to the states, but if they do allow eminent domain, then the owner of the property should be able to choose whether or not to receive the payment of double the property's full value, or deny the government his/her property.

Surveillance

[edit]

I support less surveillance for established residents, and more surveillance for possible terrorists and foreign visitors.

Drug policy

[edit]

I support banning all extremely harmful drugs.

Marijuana
[edit]

I do not support the legalization of marijuana.

Net neutrality

[edit]

I do not support net neutrality, and support monitoring information from Apple, Facebook, and all social media in general.

Alcohol

[edit]

I support banning alcoholic drinks along with drugs.

Health care

[edit]

I do not like Obamacare, for it is taxing the well-established residents to help the poor illegal immigrants. I also don't like Medicaid, pretty much Obamacare #2. I support getting rid of both programs. I support editing Medicare so that anyone can opt out of it.

Human rights

[edit]

I support all women's rights. For men's rights, I support drafting women as well as men, and also support allowing men to decide what goes in their bodies. For children's rights, I support allowing them to decide what goes in their bodies, and also allowing them to handle legal matters concerning them. I also support virgin's rights.

LGBT issues

[edit]

I support the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Racial rights

[edit]

I support about every racial right there is.

Gun rights

[edit]

I support gun rights in general, and am against most gun control.

Immunization restrictions

[edit]

I am against immunization restrictions.

Abortion

[edit]

I support abortion.

Landscaping

[edit]

I support getting rid of all landscaping restrictions.

Wild animals as pets

[edit]

I support allowing wild animals to become pets. I also support allowing gerbils in California.

Kid's media safety

[edit]

I support getting rid of Microsoft Family Safety and Parental Controls, and support editing User Account Controls.

I support abolishing the MPAA.

Airport security

[edit]

I support lightening airport security restrictions, getting rid of X-rays and contact pat-downs and replacing them with non-personal/non-radiation object detectors and metal detectors, allowing direct flights in and out of safe countries with light security, and abolishing the TSA.

Animal rights

[edit]

I support animal rights, and I don't like animal testing.

Drafting

[edit]

I'm completely opposed to drafting, but in a situation in which drafting in required, I support drafting women as well.

Euthanasia

[edit]

I am against non-voluntary, involuntary, and animal euthanasia, but support voluntary euthanasia. I am against the ESA, and support abolishing them.

Corporal punishment

[edit]

I am completely against both torture and the death penalty.

Social security

[edit]

I support social security. I don't support raising the retirement age or cutting the benefits.

For the current clone wars page: see Clone Wars (Star Wars). For the draft on the plot see: Draft:Plot of the Clone Wars (Star Wars)

The Clone Wars are a fictional conflict in the Star Wars science fiction franchise by George Lucas. They are mentioned briefly in the first film release A New Hope (1977), but conflict is not featured until the fifth and sixth film releases Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005). The Clone Wars were featured as the conflict in Clone Wars, the 2003-2005 TV series. The Clone Wars are also the subject of the 3D CGI animated film The Clone Wars (2008) and the related television series The Clone Wars (2008-2014), and they have been featured in numerous novels, comics, and video games of the Star Wars official canon and expanded universe.

Within the Star Wars narrative, the Wars are fought to prevent thousands of planetary systems from seceding from the Galactic Republic and forming the Confederacy of Independent Systems, often referred to simply as the Separatists. The Republic employs an army of clone troopers, the namesake of the conflict, led by the Jedi Order against the Separatist's battle droid army. In Revenge of the Sith, it is revealed that the conflict is orchestrated by the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, secretly a Sith Lord, and he uses the Clone Wars to ultimately convert the Republic into the Galactic Empire featured in the original trilogy and name himself Emperor.

Lucas sought to use the prequel trilogy, which centers around the Clone Wars, to answer questions of the original trilogy, such as how the Empire came to be and how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. The political and military events of the Clone Wars draw inspiration from real-world conflicts and historical events, like the American Civil War and Adolf Hitler's rise to power. Many of the events featured have parallels in history, politics, and mythology from which Lucas and other writers drew inspiration.

Development

[edit]

Lucas has noted that Palpatine's rise to power is very similar to that of Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany; as Chancellor of Germany, the latter was granted "emergency powers", as is Palpatine.[1] Comparisons have been made to Octavian – who became Augustus, the first emperor of Rome – and to Napoleon Bonaparte, who rose to power in France from 1796 to 1799. Octavian was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of political opponents well before he was granted tribunician powers; Bonaparte was appointed First Consul for life (and later Emperor) by the French Consulate after a failed attempt on his life and the subsequent coup of 18 Brumaire in 1799.[2] References to the American Civil War can also be discerned.[2]

War journalism, combat films, and footage of World War II combat influenced the documentary-style camera work of the Battle of Geonosis, even to the point that hand-held shakes were digitally added to computer-generated sequences.[2]

Lucas has stated that he conceived the Star Wars saga's fundamental story in the form of a basic plot outline in 1973. He later made it clear, however, that at the time of the saga's conception, he had not fully realized the details—only major plot points throughout the series, and these would evolve over time.[1] He began working on Episode III even before the previous film, Attack of the Clones, was released, proposing to concept artists that the film would open with a montage of seven battles on seven planets.[3] Lucas reviewed the storyline that summer and radically re-organized the plot.[4] Michael Kaminski, in The Secret History of Star Wars, surmises that Lucas found flaws with Anakin's fall to the dark side, and made massive story changes. For instance, instead of opening the film with various Clone Wars battles, Lucas decided instead to focus on Anakin, ending the film's first act with his killing of Count Dooku, an action that signals his descent to the dark side.[5]

Story overview

[edit]

The conflicts leading up to the Clone Wars began 32 years before the events of A New Hope and ended 19 years before it. During the film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, the Trade Federation, a major galactic trade organization under the control of the Neimoidians, blockades the small planet Naboo and demands its capitulation. Its queen, Padmé Amidala, refuses their demands and requests help from the Galactic Republic, the main governing body of the galaxy. The Republic sends two Jedi ambassadors, Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, to oversee the situation and negotiate with the Trade Federation. The Federation, wary of the Jedi and secretly taking orders from Sith lord Darth Sidious, attempts to murder the Jedi, who escape to Naboo just as the Federation begins a full-scale invasion. Following a brief occupation, the Trade Federation is defeated by an alliance of the Naboo Royal Guard and the indigenous Gungan Tribes, with the help of the Jedi, and the Viceroy is forced to surrender and deactivate his droid armies.[6]

Following these events, Jedi Master Dooku resigns from the Jedi Order and returns to his homeworld of Serenno, taking on his hereditary title of Count.[7] However, the Jedi Council is unaware that Count Dooku has fallen under the control of Darth Sidious and is secretly training as his new apprentice (under the name Darth Tyranus) and organizing a separatist coalition of planets and civilizations with the intention of seceding from the Republic. During this time, the Separatists begin forming their own armies, which primarily consist of battle droids constructed by the Trade Federation and its allies.

Ten years later, following the attempted assassination of now-Senator Padmé Amidala, the investigation by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker puts them on the trail of Jango Fett, an interstellar bounty hunter. Tracking him to the unlisted world of Kamino, Kenobi discovers that the Kaminoans have used samples of Fett's DNA to clone a vast army of soldiers, referred to as Clone troopers. The order for the soldiers had been secretly submitted to the Kaminoans by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, who was killed after making the order. Meanwhile, the Republic faces internal opposition, as several thousand worlds publicly secede from the Galactic Republic and form the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS). The Republic Senate deliberates passing the Military Creation Act, which calls for the formation of an army to serve the Republic to keep order across Republic Star Systems and prevent further secession. As deliberations stall, Shadow Senator for Naboo Jar Jar Binks proposes (after suggestion from Chancellor Palpatine) that the Chancellor be granted emergency powers in order to resolve the issue of the Clone Army that is awaiting approval on Kamino and to take decisive action to put down the rebellion. This is greeted to by applause from the majority of the Senate Chamber, and Chancellor Palpatine describes it as a "purely temporary measure".

The Clone Army of the Republic first sees battle engaging the Separatist forces on Geonosis, rescuing a small group of Jedi trapped by Dooku's forces. The Republic army in this engagement is commanded by Master Yoda, and the Battle of Geonosis marks the end of Attack of the Clones and the beginning of the Clone Wars.

During the in-universe time period between Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, conflict between the Republic and the Separatists increases and expands, which is chronicled in an extensive multimedia campaign for Revenge of the Sith. The villains General Grievous, Asajj Ventress, Savage Opress, and Darth Maul appear, and Ventress is swayed to the Republic's side, Maul is captured by his former master Darth Sidious, and Opress is killed by Sidious. Order 66 is discovered, but the Jedi decide to have faith in the clones, ultimately contributing to their eventual demise.

Three years after the Battle of Geonosis, CIS forces under the command of the cyborg General Grievous kidnap Chancellor Palpatine from the Republic capital world of Coruscant. The Chancellor is rescued and Confederacy leader Count Dooku is killed by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, who ironically later takes his place as Darth Vader. Obi-Wan Kenobi kills General Grievous, right before the Jedi are exterminated, Skywalker is swayed to the dark side, the Separatists are killed, and the Republic is turned into the Empire.

Pre-Clone Wars

[edit]

The Trade Federation invasion of Naboo

[edit]

The beginnings of the war are first portrayed in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace as the Trade Federation and its droid army, which would later become the CIS military, invade the planet of Naboo, causing Senator Sheev Palpatine to win the sympathy vote to become Supreme Chancellor. Meanwhile, the Sith lords Darth Sidious and Darth Maul orchestrate the first steps of their plan to rule the galaxy. The Federation leaders would later become the Separatist leaders.

The droid army staged a quick Naboo invasion during a blockade orchestrated by the Federation. Two Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, came and liberated the queen and her inner circle, and escaped with them and a gungan named Jar Jar Binks. They were pursued, and R2-D2 distinguished himself during the flight. The ship stopped at Tatooine for repairs, where Anakin Skywalker, Shmi Skywalker, and C-3PO were discovered. They escaped with Anakin and barely managed to avoid Darth Maul's sudden attack.

The group went to Coruscant and Senator Palpatine, seceretly Darth Sidious, managed to discreetly overthrow Chancellor Valorum. He prevented the Senate from doing anything about the invasion, so Queen Padme Amidala returned to Naboo with Jinn and Kenobi. They and the Gungan Army managed to defeat the droid army. Kenobi managed to defeat Maul, but his master, Jinn, was killed.

This was the prelude to the Separatist Crisis, for afterwards, Count Dooku, a Jedi, was turned to the dark side by Sidious. He swayed many star systems in favor of the fledging Separatist movement, which he formed.

Though the crisis is eventually resolved, the event and subsequent visions of the future leads Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas to believe that the Galactic Republic needs a standing army. The view is unshared by the Galactic Senate and the Jedi Order. Shortly after, Sifo-Dyas killed by a crime syndicate upon the order of Jedi Master Dooku, Sidious' secret Sith apprentice, under the name of Lord Tyranus. The files on Sifo-Dyas' final missions are locked by Palpatine, making later investigation of his death difficult. Dooku uses Sifo-Dyas' name to purchase an army of clone troopers from the Kaminoan cloners on Kamino, and as Tyranus, he hires bounty hunter Jango Fett to serve as the clone genetic template. He erases Kamino from the Jedi Temple archive, and he leaves the Jedi Order. The Kaminoans receive a biochip from Tyranus and upon his orders secretly implant it into the brain of every clone trooper. This biochip forces them to obey Order 66 when it is given, prompting them to kill Jedi on sight and pursue them relentlessly.

The Separatist Crisis

[edit]

The real tension begins with the Separatist Crisis, a series of debates in the Galactic Republic that are referred to in Attack of the Clones and that began about two years prior to the start of that film. By the beginning of Attack of the Clones, many star systems have seceded and left the Republic. The tension caused by this secession eventually leads to the outbreak of war.[8] The war has different causes: the Republic's Chancellor Palpatine tells his people that the war began because of several different reasons, such as the years of separation by the outer rim territories, as well as the separatists' capture of the Jedi and financing of rebellions by radical states within the Republic.[citation needed] While these are all true, Palpatine had covertly influenced and created these events with assistance from his secret apprentices.[citation needed]

In Episode II the Galactic Senate perceives the Separatist movement as a hostile threat under Count Dooku and fear that the Jedi Knights are too few in number to defend the Republic against a Separatist attack; war is perceived to be inevitable. The young Senator Amidala returns to Coruscant in order to vote against the Military Creation Act, which would create an Army for the Republic to aid the Jedi in the event of a Separatist invasion. Unbeknownst to the rest of the Senate, however, Palpatine had manipulated events such that the creation of a military force would be the most logical choice, and counted on the Senate's fears of an invasion. He had prepared an army of clones on the uncharted planet Kamino just for such an opportune time. After an assassination attempt on Senator Amidala at the Republic capital when the Military Creation Act was called to vote, the Senate was convinced that military action was the only answer.

Obi-Wan's investigation implicated the Separatist's involvement in the terrorist attacks on Amidala's life on Coruscant. After his confirmation that a droid army was being prepared for the Separatists (consisting now of the Trade Federation, who had attacked Naboo in the past; the Commerce Guild, who were renowned for their military strength; and the Corporate Alliance, who have pledged their armies to the movement) under Count Dooku, the Senate deploys a preemptive military strike of Dooku's location on Geonosis. This is widely regarded as the beginning of the war and is the eponymous Attack of the Clones.

End of the Separatist Crisis, Initiation of the Clone Wars Campaign: Battle of Geonosis

[edit]

This battle was portrayed in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

A clone army is created for the Republic on the planet of Kamino. Led by Master Yoda, these clones travel to the planet of Geonosis to rescue captive Jedi and capture or kill the Separatist leaders. This leads to the Battle of Geonosis, the first battle in the Clone Wars.

The Clone Army and the role of the Jedi Order during the Battle of Geonosis

[edit]

In the film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, the beginning of the Clone Wars occurs. The clone army of the Republic is formed on the planet Kamino, and, in a state of emergency, Jar Jar Binks, the representative of Naboo granted emergency powers to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to approve the use of a clone army. Two hundred Jedi were dispatched to Geonosis with Mace Windu leading them. They stormed an execution arena where Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala were about to be sentenced to death by three blood-thirsty monsters (an Acklay, a Reek, and a Nexu). A battle occurred in the arena, and a lot of Jedi were slain by Count Dooku's droid army. However, a massive army of clone troopers, led by Master Yoda, entered the arena and evacuated the surviving Jedi, taking them to where a great battle was taking place. Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, and Ki-Adi-Mundi led the clone army against the droid army and were successful, while Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi went to duel Dooku. Anakin and Obi-Wan were defeated by the Sith Lord, but Yoda arrived and fought Dooku off, forcing him to retreat to his master's fortress. The Clone Wars had begun.

Ongoing Clone Wars battles and campaigns

[edit]

These battles and situations were protrayed in The Clone Wars TV series and The Clone Wars film.

General plot

[edit]

The Clone Wars span three years and divides the galaxy into three factions: the Galactic Republic, the Separatists or the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the Council of Neutral Systems. In both the Galactic Senate and the Separatist Senate, motions to negotiate peace treaties are ultimately rejected. A few major battles take place, but not many. Many minor battles and sieges take place. The biochips in the clone troopers are eventually discovered by clone trooper Fives, who attempts to relay his findings to the Jedi Order. However, he is framed by Palpatine for an attempt on the Chancellor's life, and he is ultimately killed after revealing to truth to only Anakin and clone Captain Rex. Near the end of the war, the Jedi Order uncovers the truth behind Sifo-Dyas' death and the Sith influence in the creation of the clone troopers, but they feel unable to change the course of the war and choose to have faith in the clone troopers. New villains appear: General Grievous, who survives unchanged until Revenge of the Sith, Asajj Ventress, who is swayed to the Republic's side after Grievous wiped out her family, Darth Maul, who is dicovered by his brother Opress but then is captured by his former master Sidious, and Savage Opress, who discovers Maul but then is killed by Sidious. A new protagonist appears named Ahsoka Tano. Barriss Offee, who turned to the dark side and orchestrated a bombing of the Jedi temple, tries to frame Ahsoka for the bombing. However, Anakin Skywalker discovered the truth, framing Barriss and saving Ahsoka from being expelled from the Jedi. However, Ahsoka lost confidence in the Jedi afterwards and left the Jedi order.

Conflicts in between the Senate and the Separatists

[edit]

The Senate had been involved in several tense situations with the enemies of the Republic. In season one episode "Hostage Crisis" of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, bounty hunter Cad Bane teamed up with some friends to hold some Senators hostage. Anakin Skywalker attempted to stop them, but failed. In the end, he saved the Senator's lives, though. In season 2 episode "Senate Spy", Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker spied on Senator Clovis while he worked with the Banking Clan, Trade Federation, and the Separatists. He saved Padme's life when she was poisoned.

Minor battles and situations

[edit]

Battle of Christophsis and Skirmish on Teth

[edit]

In this battle, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano defended the planet Christophsis from a Separatist invasion and thwarted a Separatist plan to kill the son of Jabba the Hutt to gain his favor in the war. They brokered a peace relationship with them, allowing the Republic to use Hutt-controlled space.

Six months after the onset of The Clone Wars in Episode II, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi were sent to defend the world of Christophsis against a Separatist invasion. Starved for reinforcements and supplies, the Jedi held off the droid armies while awaiting backup from Admiral Yularen. When the transport arrived, a Jedi youngling by the name of Ahsoka Tano stepped off the ship and revealed herself to be Skywalker's new Padawan learner. Reluctantly, Anakin partnered with Ahsoka to defeat the Separatist threat on Christophsis. Following the battle, Yoda assigned both the new master and apprentice the task of finding Jabba the Hutt's son in order to improve relations with the Hutt clan.

After a skirmish on Teth, it became obvious that the Separatist Asajj Ventress was behind the kidnapping of the young Hutt and intended to frame the Jedi. After preventing the Separatist plot, Anakin and Ahsoka traveled to Tatooine to reunite Jabba with his son. Dooku attempted to stop them, but he failed to do so. Jabba brokered a peace with the Republic for saving his son, which allowed them to use Hutt-controlled space.

These events were depicted in the The Clone Wars film.

Training on Kamino

[edit]

In this situation, a group of clones strived to pass training and fight on the battlefield.

Shortly after the treaty with the Hutts, a squad of clone cadets neared the end of their training on the rainy world of Kamino. Trained by bounty hunters Bric and El-Les and designated Domino Squad, Hevy, Cutup, Droidbait, Fives, and Echo ran through their final exercises in preparation for their final test, the Citadel. Despite their training and preparation, they failed their examination after making several fatal mistakes. As such, they were scheduled to be left behind when the new batch of clones left for war. But El-Les petitioned for them to have a second chance, a petition that Jedi Shaak Ti granted. After learning to come together as a unit and look past themselves, Domino Squad was able to overcome the Citadel, joining their clone brethren on the battlefield.

This event was depicted in The Clone Wars episode "Clone Cadets".

Rishi Moon Assault

[edit]

In this battle, the Domino clone squad helped stop the Separatists from destroying the Republic's clone supply.

The rookies of Domino Squad were assigned to the Rishi moon outpost guarding Kamino. General Grievous sent a squad of commando droids to eliminate the clones and take the station without alerting the Republic. The droids did so, killing the commander, Sergeant O'Niner, Droidbait, and two other clones. Hevy, Fives, Echo, and Cutup escaped through a ventilation shaft, but Cutup was killed by a Rishi eel. Commander Cody and Captain Rex came to the moon soon afterwards on an inspection tour and were alerted to the presence of the droids. The officers then engaged the droids in combat. The shuttle was destroyed, and they were forced to retreat.

The clones teamed up and tricked the droids to let them in. They destroyed the droids and tried to contact the Republic. The comm link was jammed, and they realized the only way to get the Republic's attention was to blow the station up. Meanwhile, General Grievous sent a droid unit to check the outpost out. Cody, Hevy, and Fives engaged the droids while Echo and Captain Rex set up the bomb.

Cody and his men retreated to the command center to detonate the bomb. When the bomb didn't work, Hevy volunteered to stay behind to fix it. Hevy tried to fix it, but it was to no avail. The droids came, and Hevy made a last stand with his chaingun. He was wounded, and his only option was to detonate the bomb manually. He did so, sacrificing himself, in order to alert the Republic.

The Republic forces then came, expelling the Separatist forces. A gunship evacuated the survivors and brought them to the Jedi to be honored. Echo and Fives were given medals, and Captain Rex appointed them into the 501st Legion.

These events were depicted in The Clone Wars episode "Rookies".

Battle of Ryloth

[edit]

In this battle, a group of Jedi and clones liberated the planet Ryloth from the Separatists.

Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, with their fleet of Republic starships, attacked the CIS blockade over the planet Ryloth. After one Republic cruiser was destroyed, Skywalker piloted a second ship into the lead CIS cruiser, destroying it. The following battle was won by Tano and her squadron of clones. Obi-Wan Kenobi then liberated a village on Ryloth and established a Republic foothold. Mace Windu then teamed up with Cham Syndulla to invade Ryloth's captured capital.

These events were depicted in the three The Clone Wars episodes: "Storm Over Ryloth", "Innocents of Ryloth", and "Liberty on Ryloth".

Game changers

[edit]

Weapon of destruction campaign

[edit]

In this situation, Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Aayla Secura, and two clones destroyed a deadly new Separatist weapon, which if put in use, would win many battles, for it would kill Jedi and clones while leaving droids unharmed.

Skywalker, Secura, and Tano, with help from locals, destroyed the deadly weapon and brought peace to the planet.

These events were depicted in the The Clone Wars episode "Defenders of Peace". The prelude to this event was depicted in "Jedi Crash".

Inquisitor campaign

[edit]

In this situation, Darth Sidious used Cad Bane to retrieve a holocron and kidnap force-sensitive children for his own use. If he had succeeded, the new Inquisitors, which appeared in Star Wars Rebels, could have greatly helped the Separatist war effort.

Bounty hunter Cad Bane stole a Jedi holocron, which he sold to Darth Sidious after using Anakin Skywalker to open it. Sidious used the holocron to kidnap force-sensitive children and create "a network of force-sensitive spies", which are depicted as Inquisitors in Star Wars Rebels. However, Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano stopped him.

These events were depicted in three The Clone Wars episodes: "Holocron Heist", "Cargo of Doom", and "Children of the Force".

Kamino assault

[edit]

Several months after the Rishi Moon Assault, the Separatists assaulted Kamino and lost. If they hadn't, they would of destroyed the Republic's clone supply, thus quickly ending the war with a Separatist victory.

This battle was depicted in The Clone Wars episode "ARC Troopers".

Geonosis assault

[edit]

In this battle, six Jedi and a massive clone army invaded Geonosis and destroyed a Separatist droid factory. Had they failed, the droids produced by the factory could of greatly increased the size and power of the Separatist army, thus greatly increasing the chances of a Separatist victory of the war.

The four Jedi Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Ki-Adi Mundi, and Obi-Wan Kenobi landed on Geonosis, establishing a Republic foothold. Then, Skywalker and Luminara Unduli distracted Separatist troops while Ahsoka and Barriss Offee blew up the Separatist factory, almost killing themselves in the process. Then, Unduli was captured by zombies and rescued by Skywalker and Kenobi. They discovered a mind controlling worm, which later infected Ahsoka's fellow crew as they left Geonosis to delivery medical supplies, which Kit Fisto had, to Mace Windu.

These events were depicted in four The Clone Wars episodes: "Landing at Point Rain", "Weapons Factory", "Legacy of Terror", and "Brain Invaders".

Dooku and Gunray hostage campaigns

[edit]

In these situations, Count Dooku and Viceroy Gunray were being held hostage, but escaped or were rescued. If the Republic had kept them, they would have greatly helped the Republic war effort.

In Gunray's case, C-3PO, Jar-Jar Binks, and Padme Amidala traveled to Rodia to negotiate with the planet's Senator, Onaconda Farr. They discovered he allied with the Separatists. Padme was captured in exchange for supplies, but meanwhile, 3PO and Binks alerted Republic troops, which teamed up with Padme, Binks, 3PO, and Senator Onaconda to capture Gunray. Gunray was being delivered to Coruscant for interrogation when Asajj Ventress rescued him and escaped. Kit Fisto went after them, only to be lured into a trap set by Count Dooku and General Grievous.

In Dooku's case, he was captured by pirate Hondo Ohnaka while receiving "transport" on a planet. The pirates allowed the Republic to pick up Dooku in exchange for a ransom. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi went to pick him up, but then were captured, too. Dooku escaped, while Skywalker and Kenobi were rescued by Jar Jar Binks and the Republic.

These events were depicted in the five respectively consecutive The Clone Wars episodes: "Bombad Jedi", "Cloak of Darkness", "Lair of Grievous", "Dooku Captured", and "The Gungan General".

Final battles of the Clone Wars

[edit]

These battles were portrayed in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Battle of Coruscant

[edit]

After the CIS finds a secret hyperspace route through the Deep Core, the Confederacy's fleet, including General Grievous's flagship Invisible Hand, initiates a surprise attack on Coruscant. In an unprecedented move, Chancellor Palpatine is kidnapped and jailed in the Invisible Hand. Coruscant responds by sending a fleet of Venator-class Star Destroyers. Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, meanwhile, on a mission from the Jedi Order, infiltrate the flagship and rescue the Chancellor. Anakin kills Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy, at the Chancellor's urging. As the Invisible Hand falls out of orbit, General Grievous ejects all the escape pods, leaving the Jedi and the Chancellor trapped inside. Anakin manages to land half of the burning ship on Coruscant. Without their lead ship, the CIS fleet enters hyperspace and leaves.

Battle of Kashyyyk

[edit]

Upon receiving news of the Separatist assault on Kashyyyk, Jedi Master Yoda, having previous experience and good relations with the Wookies, is dispatched with a force of clone troops to aid them, as the Republic cannot afford to lose the system. A battle occurs on a beach, with the Confederacy utilizing amphibious and aerial vehicles and droids, only revealing themselves in shallow water, using it as cover. Order 66 was issued during the battle, but Master Yoda was one of the few Jedi to survive it.

Battle of Utapau

[edit]

The Battle of Utapau was a clone invasion of the planet where Clone Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi fought. General Grievous was eventually killed by Obi-Wan towards the end of the battle. Order 66 was given at the end of the battle, causing Clone Commander Cody to order an AT-TE to shoot Obi-Wan. The blast hit the rock ledge beneath Kenobi and his varactyl Boga, sending them into free fall where they eventually landed in a lake where Obi-Wan survived.

End of the Clone Wars

[edit]

These events were portrayed in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

At this point in the timeline of the Clone Wars, the Outer Rim Sieges are in full swing and numerous other battles rage across the galaxy. The Jedi are considered generals, because their lightsaber combat skills and powerful drive to do what is right far outrank clones in terms of battle prowess and leadership abilities, and they are spread thin across the galaxy. One major battle was in the skies over Coruscant, where Grievous captured Palpatine, who was rescued by Skywalker and Kenobi, the former which killed Count Dooku during the battle at Palpatine's urging. Another one of the key battles of the Outer Rim Sieges is the Battle of Utapau, depicted in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. During the battle, General Obi-Wan Kenobi strikes a crippling blow to the Confederacy by killing General Grievous. However, the entire Battle of Utapau is a diversionary tactic, intended to remove Kenobi from Anakin Skywalker's immediate circle of influence in order for Chancellor Palpatine to draw Skywalker toward the dark side of the Force.

Left behind by Kenobi on Coruscant, Skywalker discovers that Palpatine is secretly Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith and the de facto leader of the Separatist Alliance. He informs Jedi Master Mace Windu, and Windu promptly confronts the corrupt Chancellor with several other Jedi. A furious duel ensues in Palpatine's personal chambers, until only Windu and Palpatine are left standing. Skywalker arrives at the Chancellor's quarters to find Palpatine at the mercy of Windu's lightsaber. Skywalker, recoiling at the idea of executing Palpatine without trial and promised by Palpatine enough power to save his wife Padmé from death, cuts Windu's lightsaber hand off, allowing Palpatine to defenestrate Windu using Force lightning. Sidious takes Skywalker as his new Sith apprentice and dubs him Darth Vader. Falsely believing that the dark side of the Force is the only key to save Padmé's life, Vader submits himself to Palpatine's teachings. As a newly anointed Sith Lord, Vader has now completely fallen under the sway of the dark side.

Utilizing the attack by Mace Windu as a pretext, Chancellor Palpatine issues Order 66, a pre-arranged military command ordering all Clone Troopers to execute their Jedi commanders in the event that the Jedi "betray" the Republic. Darth Vader leads the raid on the Jedi Temple with the 501st Clone Trooper Legion and kills all the Jedi in the Temple, including Jedi younglings living in the Temple.

With the extermination of the vast majority of the Jedi complete, Palpatine marks an end to the Galactic Republic, naming himself the galactic emperor of the first Galactic Empire. During this time, Emperor Palpatine dispatches Vader to Mustafar to kill the rest of the Separatist leaders. With the elimination of the Confederacy leadership accomplished and his plan for total domination complete, Emperor Palpatine (as Darth Sidious) orders all battle droids to be shut down immediately, effectively ending the Clone Wars.

Aftermath

[edit]

The Great Jedi Purge

[edit]

These events were portrayed in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi survive the initial purge of Order 66 and are picked up by Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan aboard his diplomatic cruiser Tantive IV. Organa, after witnessing the young Jedi Zett Jukassa being killed by clone troopers, has secretly remained loyal to the Jedi. Returning to Coruscant, Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi enter the Temple long enough to re-encode a secret retreat signal being broadcast by the in-house communications ordering all Jedi to return to the Jedi Temple, instead warning all surviving Jedi about the treachery and to take precautions. Kenobi and Yoda then attempt to kill the Sith Lords, with Yoda engaging Sidious in combat, and Obi-Wan fighting Vader. Yoda fights Sidious into a stalemate and is forced to flee at the last moment and escapes; whereas Kenobi defeats and mortally wounds his former apprentice, leaving him to die. However, Vader is rescued by the Emperor and fitted with the black life-support suit he wears for the remainder of his life.

Realizing that they are in no position to oppose the Empire for the time being, Kenobi and Yoda go into hiding. Additionally, they decide that Luke and Leia, the children of Anakin and Padmé (who dies giving birth to them), would need to be raised separately and in hiding to protect them from Sidious and Vader. Bail Organa volunteers to adopt Leia with his wife on Alderaan. By Yoda's decision, Luke would be raised by Anakin's stepbrother, Owen Lars, on Tatooine, while Kenobi watches over him from a distance. Yoda, for his part, chooses exile on an uninhabited planet in the Dagobah system, where strong dark side energies would mask his presence from the Emperor, to await the day the Jedi would rise again and need his assistance in training them.

CIS insurrectionist campaign: The Rebellion

[edit]

These events were portrayed in Star Wars Rebels and the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV - VI)

A Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume survived Order 66 and escapes capture from the clone troopers ordered to kill him while participating in the battle of Kaller with his master Depa Billaba, who is killed by the clone troopers. He changes his name to Kanan Jarrus and takes odd jobs through the galaxy. Eventually, he joins a small rebel crew later, which is fighting against the Empire. To avoid attention, he re-designed his lightsaber as a two-part weapon, and he later joins the initial stages of the Rebellion. It is during these stages that he meets another survivor, Anakin Skywalker's own former apprentice Ahsoka Tano, who is also part of similar rebel movements and who also escaped capture due to having left the Jedi Order a year before Order 66. The Rebellion was also joined by Rex and his fellow clones Wolffe and Gregor, who played no part in Order 66. The Empire enlisted Sith-like enforcers called Inquisitors to hunt down the Jedi and kill them while attempting to recruit Padawans to their side.

Following the creation of the Galactic Empire, the Empire tried to sweep away the memories of the troubled times of the Clone Wars. They housed veterans of the struggle in poorly maintained places like Crispus Commons on the planet Gorse, where they were forced to deal with shabby maintenance and low-paying jobs.[citation needed] Despite this, some, such as Skelly, a former veteran on the side of the Old Republic, managed to piece together the truth about the Clone Wars. There were those, such as Bail Organa, who remembered the bravery of those like the Jedi Knights during the Clone Wars. He passed this knowledge onto his daughter, Princess Leia Organa, who later sent a holographic message to Obi-Wan Kenobi appealing to him in the name of his service during the Clone Wars. It would remain as one of the most destructive conflicts in galactic history, with billions of casualties on both sides.

The war accomplished exactly what Palpatine had set out to achieve: the Jedi Order was destroyed, and the Republic was transformed into the first Galactic Empire, with Palpatine as its Emperor. The Empire expanded its reach across the galaxy, using the memory of the Clone Wars by promising order to a galaxy tired of war. After it became clear that the Empire was oppressive, the Alliance to Restore the Republic was created to oppose the Empire's rule. Palpatine's victory in the Clone Wars lasted just over two decades, as the Galactic Civil War eventually led to the fall of Palpatine and his Empire.

Appearances

[edit]

Official canon

[edit]

The Clone Wars are mentioned twice briefly in the first film release A New Hope (1977), referring to Obi-Wan Kenobi as a General who served Leia Organa's father during the conflict.[9] The Wars themselves are first featured in the fifth film release Attack of the Clones (2002), which depicts their outbreak, and in the sixth film release Revenge of the Sith (2005), which depicts their end. The conflict is later the setting of the animated film The Clone Wars (2008), the related television series The Clone Wars (2008-2014), and The Clone Wars Legacy multimedia project. The events of the conflict are referenced throughout the Rebels television series (2014), which features Jedi survivors of Order 66 and clone trooper deserters among its characters.

Legends

[edit]

The Clone Wars are featured throughout the novels, comics, and video games of the Star Wars expanded universe, published under the Legends banner.

The videogame Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released in 2002 for PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. It is set immediately after the final events of Attack of the Clones, and spans many new worlds and settings not mentioned in the films or novelizations. Additionally, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter ties in to the beginning of the war and the creation of the Clones. Also Star Wars: Battlefront, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars: Republic Commando, and Star Wars: Battlefront II expand the scenarios of the conflict and add new angles to previously covered battles but are not part of the multimedia campaign.

The cartoon microseries Star Wars: Clone Wars started airing in November 2003 on Cartoon Network. It was a series of 20 episodes, each three to five minutes long, showing several of the battles of the war not mentioned in any of the films.

The comic series Star Wars: Republic has also shed light on this era of the Star Wars universe, focusing in particular on the exploits of the Jedi characters Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Quinlan Vos, and Aayla Secura.[10] Multiple series of novels based on all aspects of the Clone Wars have been published, as well.

An animated feature film based on the Clone Wars, titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars, was released on August 15, 2008. It introduced the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which began airing in the fall of 2008. It was planned to consist of at least one hundred episodes and is an expansion to the previous TV cartoon. A video game titled Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes was released on October 6, 2009.

Allusions

[edit]

Like all themes within Star Wars, the Clone Wars borrows from multiple mythical, literary, and historical influences and parallels. Writers and critics have debated over which parallels are most prominent or consistent.

Political, governmental and militarily

[edit]

The Clone Wars and its results are portrayed as the catalyst that shifted the Galactic Republic from a democracy to a dictatorship. In a 2002 Time magazine interview, Star Wars creator George Lucas explains:

"All democracies turn into dictatorships—but not by coup. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it's Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler. Ultimately, the general population goes along with the idea. What kinds of things push people and institutions in this direction? That's the issue I've been exploring: how did the Republic turn into the Empire? ... How does a good person go bad, and how does a democracy become a dictatorship?"[11]

The prequel trilogy depicts Palpatine using a false flag to gain power: In Attack of the Clones, he orchestrates the Separatist movement (and the Clone Wars that followed) to worry the citizens of the Republic, thus forcing the Senate to grant him emergency powers. According to the character Obi-Wan Kenobi, these powers increase as the Clone Wars extend into a search for General Grievous, who replaces Count Dooku as the Separatist's leader.[12][13] During Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine declares himself Emperor by blaming the Jedi for the Republic's problems, resulting in a Jedi purge via Order 66.[14][15][16]

Comparisons have been made between the political aspects of the Clone Wars and the events leading up to World War II. Radio host Clyde Lewis' article on historical similarities in Star Wars claims that Palpatine's tactics parallel those of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany; both leaders used wars and scapegoats to manipulate society's emotional state, thus providing the leadership with support and power.[17] This viewpoint was also expressed in an editorial on the Clone Wars Unofficial Website.[18] Another writer compares the Clone Wars with World War II in general, basing his argument on the fact that Lucas was born during the baby boomer generation, and the dark times featured in the original trilogy rival the dark, uncertain Cold War.[19] Lucas, however, has said in multiple interviews that one of his primary influences for the political backdrop behind the Clone Wars (and all of Star Wars) was the Vietnam/Watergate era, when leaders embraced corruption for what they thought was the best course of action.[20][21]

There are a variety of opinions on the historical parallels between the political aspects of the Clone Wars and the War in Iraq. In claiming that the Star Wars galaxy under the deceitful Palpatine parallels the modern issues of the United States, an editorial on Antiwar.com states that "[Star Wars] establishes first the generally agreeable premise that it's right to overthrow oppressive government, before bringing into focus something more discomforting – that the corrupt tyranny referred to is our own".[22] Additionally, an article from Wiretap claims that, "like Palpatine, the Bush administration has been able to feed on people's fears to gain more power".[23] However, in an interview with Seattle station KIRO 7 News, Star Wars producer Rick McCallum explained:

"George is a product of Vietnam, not a product of Bush. [The political aspects of the Clone Wars] has been in the context of every script I've ever read—every draft—way before Bush became president..."[24]

Lucas claims, however, that "The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we're doing in Iraq now are unbelievable." Nevertheless, he has stated that: "When I wrote [the backstory/Clone Wars], Iraq didn't exist".[20]

Parallels between the Clone Wars and the American Civil War also seem to exist with the secession of territories, the name "Confederacy of Independent Systems" and the Republic's army being called the Grand Army of the Republic, as well as fighting the "Rebels" in response to a separatist movement from the Republic, whereby it declared itself the final authority, and the presiding official usurped illegal power to himself, while declaring all protesters to be "enemies of the Republic."

Tanks

[edit]

The gameplay starts with the player playing a regular tank. The tank is normally blue-colored (Unless you join a team in different gamemodes, where it can be red, green or light purple). Players have to destroy different kinds of polygons to upgrade- Yellow colored squares, red colored triangles and blue pentagons. Upon destruction, they give the player experience, and when they have enough, they can upgrade to another level, as well as upgrade 8 different stats for their tanks: Health Regen(The higher the faster you regenerate health), Max Health(The higher the less damage you take), Body Damage(The higher the more damage you deal when you run into shapes or enemy tanks), Bullet Speed(The higher the faster your bullets), Bullet Penetration(The higher the more shapes, bullets, and tanks your bullets can go through or block), Bullet Damage(The higher the more damage your bullets deal), Reload(The higher the more bullets you can fire within an amount of time), and Movement Speed(The higher the faster you can move). At level 15, they are given a choice to upgrade to 4 tanks- Machine Gun (A rapid firing tank that deals a lot of damage, but is very inaccurate), Twin (A two-barreled machine-gun like tank that shoots medium-damage bullets but is more accurate than the Machine Gun), Sniper (a high-damage tank with a longer barrel and a higher viewing range, as well as high accuracy, but low reload speed and low health) and a Flank Guard (A tank with an extra barrel in the back.) From there on, you can upgrade to more variants of Tanks at level 30. Max level is reached at level 45, but you can gain more experience and have a chance of appearing at the leader board! Overall, there are about 52 different tanks to choose from.

Twin

[edit]

A double-barreled tank with two barrels in the front. Damage and penetration is slightly decreased, but the tank can fire faster.

Triple Shot

[edit]

A tank with three barrels in the front instead of two.

Triplet
[edit]

A triple shot tank with the three barrels condensed, so the tank can fire a long, thick line of bullets.
