February 2023

[edit]
  1. Criminal Minds (season 16); nominated at RM; New name: Criminal Minds: Evolution 16:56, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: WP:COMMONNAME per [1] this iteration has been referred to primarily by its subtitle and not as a sixteenth season of the original show.

March 2023

[edit]
  1. Kings Domain; nominated at RM; New name: Kings Domain, Melbourne 02:15, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: This title doesn't seem WP:PRECISE. "Kings Domain" could be a replacement for "Royal domain", which redirects to Crown land. Simply adding the city would disambiguate. Kings Domain (Melbourne) would also sufficiently accomplish this.
  2. Queens Domain; nominated at RM; New name: Queens Domain, Hobart 02:16, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: This title doesn't seem WP:PRECISE. "Queens Domain" could be a replacement for "Royal domain", which redirects to Crown land. Simply adding the city would disambiguate. Queens Domain (Hobart) would also sufficiently accomplish this.
  3. Carlota of Mexico; nominated at RM; New name: Charlotte of Belgium 20:42, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Per WP:CONSORTS, she was born Marie Charlotte of Belgium, generally shortened to Charlotte of Belgium. Charlotte of Belgium has also been slightly more common than Carlota of Mexico as demonstrated by this Ngram: [2].
  4. Hamburg Parliament; nominated at RM; New name: Bürgerschaft of Hamburg 02:33, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Per WP:CONSISTENT. All other titles for the legislatures of German states us e their German name.

April 2023

[edit]
  1. Coronation of George II of Great Britain and Caroline; nominated at RM; New name: Coronation of George II and Caroline 19:44, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: There's no need for the title to be this long (WP:CONCISE). Every other coronation article is titled "Coronation of {Monarch} and {Consort}" ("Consort" where applicable), so WP:CONSISTENT applies here too.
  2. Camilla, Queen Consort: nominated at RM; New name: Queen Camilla 21:30, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: I intended to open this RM earlier with the intent that it be closed by the day of the coronation, but I have arrived a little late. Regardless, “Queen Camilla” has become the WP:COMMONNAME of the subject, being used by reliable sources such as CNN [3], People [4], Vogue [5], and ABC [6]. Most importantly, gov.uk has referred to her by said name [7] and she has been referred to as just “The Queen” in the coronation liturgy [8]. And of course, all this supports the long held presumption that she will just be “The Queen” and “Queen Camilla”, post coronation. Less than a week out from that date, I see no reason to not follow the changes sources have made. Cheers!

May 2023

[edit]
  1. Henrietta Maria; nominated at RM; Henrietta Maria of France 00:00, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Per WP:CONSORTS and the general format "{Name} of {Place}" for deceased queens and empresses consort. "Henrietta Maria of France" also has more page views than the actual target [9].
  2. Duke of Marlborough (title); nominated at RM; Duke of Marlborough 01:53, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: The status of the 1st Duke of Marlborough as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is weak. The present (12th) Duke frequently ranks above the 1st Duke in pageviews. [10]
  3. List of dignitaries at the state funeral of Elizabeth II; nominated at RM; List of guests at the state funeral of Elizabeth II 03:09, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

July 2023

[edit]
  1. Frederick Lewis Maitland (Royal Navy officer, born 1730): nominated at RM; New name: Frederick Lewis Maitland (died 1786) 19:14, 22 July 2023
    • Reason: Per WP:NCBIO - For historical figures for whom there is no dominant qualifier (at least no practical one), the descriptor may be omitted in favour of a single use of the date of birth or death. For historical figures, this will often be the date of death, when it is better known, more certain, or is more recognisable than their date of birth. The primary topic for Frederick Lewis Maitland was also a Royal Navy officer, so it's best to disambiguate by birth/death year (convention prefers the latter).
  2. Wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Frederick V of the Palatinate: nominated at RM; New name: Wedding of Elizabeth Stuart and Frederick V of the Palatinate 22:57, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: boldly moved this a few days ago but it was moved back so let's go through the motions. First of all, Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia was never "Princess Elizabeth" as children of the British sovereign were not known as Prince or Princess until the Hanoverians (with the exception of Prince William, Duke of Gloucester, though that could've been due to the fact he was a male-line descendant of the Danish monarch and thus a Prince of Denmark). In any case, WP:CONSISTENT would tell us to move the page to match with "Elizabeth Stuart".

August 2023

[edit]
  1. Anne Stuart (1637–1640): nominated at RM; New name: Anne Stuart (daughter of Charles I) 14:56, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
  2. Prince Oscar Bernadotte: nominated at RM; New name: Oscar Bernadotte 04:00, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Per WP:CONSISTENT and WP:COMMONNAME. On the first point, the other two princes of Sweden who married morganatically (Sigvard and Carl Johan Bernadotte) do not use the prefix "Prince". The three also shared the same two titles (Prince Bernadotte and Count of Wisborg) in the same country (technically, Luxembourg). In terms of COMMONNAME, "Oscar Bernadotte" is slightly preferred to "Prince Oscar Bernadotte" as demonstrated by ngrams [11].

September 2023

[edit]
  1. Charlene, Princess of Monaco: nominated at RM; New name: Princess Charlene of Monaco 18:48, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: First, sources are mixed as to whether Charlene's title is (Her Serene Highness) "Princess Charlene of Monaco" or "The Princess of Monaco". The official website for the princely family calls her "H. S. H. Princess Charlene".[12]. Furthermore, we tend to have the title before the name for living consorts, such as with Queen Silvia of Sweden. This is in line with WP:CONSORTS.
  2. Princess Frederica of Prussia (1796–1850): nominated at RM; New name: Princess Frederica of Prussia 11:32, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
  3. Vittorio Emanuele, Prince of Naples: nominated at RM; New name: ? 11:44, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Almost none of the cited sources refer to him this way. A quick look through this article's references shows us he is called simply "Vittorio Emmanuele", "Vittorio Emmanuele di Savoia", and "Prince Victor Emmanuel". However, I'm unsure of which of these this should be moved to (if any).
  4. Mary Peters (athlete): nominated at RM; New name: Lady Mary Peters 02:41, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
  5. Prince Aimone, Duke of Aosta (born 1967): nominated at RM; New name: Prince Aimone, 6th Duke of Aosta 13:19, 10 September 2023
  6. Marie Thérèse Louise of Savoy, Princesse de Lamballe: nominated at RM; New name: Marie Thérèse Louise of Savoy 28 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Present title is unnecessarily long, in violation of WP:CONCISE. The proposed title is also more WP:CONSISTENT under the guideline of WP:NCROY as most deceased royal women have article titles using their birth name. The proposed title is also a primary redirect, so there’s no ambiguity here.
  7. Sophie of France (1734–1782): nominated at RM; New name: ? 28 September 2023 (UTC)

October 2023

[edit]
  1. Dan Goldman (politician): nominated at RM; New name: Dan Goldman 20:49, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC by pageviews [13]. Fairly obvious long-term significance as a member of the US Congress and an actor in the impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump.
  2. Jack Reed (Rhode Island politician): nominated at RM; New name: Jack Reed (politician) 00:50, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
  3. Death of Elijah McClain: nominated at RM; New name: Killing of Elijah McClain 17:47, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Per WP:NCDEATHS as one officer has been convicted of "criminally negligent homicide" in his death [15].
  4. NSW Liberal Party: nominated at RM; New name: New South Wales Liberal Party 02:54, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

November 2023

[edit]
  1. New Romantics (song): nominated at RM; New name: New Romantics 23:31, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
  2. Thomas Suozzi: nominated at RM; New name: Tom Suozzi 01:55, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: WP:COMMONNAME. About 174 sources in Google News use "Thomas Suozzi", while about 300 use "Tom Suozzi". [16][17]

January 2024

[edit]
  1. Christian, Crown Prince of Denmark (disambiguation): nominated at AfD; notified Wellington Bay (talk · contribs) 13:23, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Unnecessary disambiguation page as WP:ONEOTHER.
  2. Talk:Isabella II of Spain: nominated at RM; New name: Isabella II 22:33, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

February 2024

[edit]
  1. Sofía of Spain: nominated at RfD; Target: Queen Sofía of Spain (notified); notified SNIyer12 (talk · contribs) 22:54, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Dabify - WP:NOPRIMARY. We should consider both pageviews and long-term significance. I would agree that Queen Sofía undoubtedly wins the latter factor, but she does not have consistently more pageviews than her granddaughter [18].
  2. Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, Prince of Venice: nominated at RM; New name: Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia (born 1972) 22:53, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Or alternatively without the disambiguator. First off the proposed name (just "Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia") is the WP:COMMONNAME [19][20]. Second, WP:ABOUTSELF applies as the subject uses the proposed name [21]. Third, I fear that using titles in pretense for this branch of the House of Savoy and using surname format for the other claimants to the headship of the house (Aimone di Savoia Aosta (born 1967)) could appear as favoring the claim of this branch (possibly a NPOV issue).

  1. 贺锦丽: nominated at RfD; Target: Kamala Harris (notified); notified Hubble-3 (talk · contribs) 23:58, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Delete per WP:R#DELETE #8 In particular, redirects in a language other than English to a page whose subject is unrelated to that language.
  2. He Jinli: nominated at RfD; Target: Kamala Harris (notified); notified Willform (talk · contribs) 23:58, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

  3. 賀錦麗: nominated at RfD; Target: Kamala Harris (notified); notified Willform (talk · contribs) 23:59, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

  1. Kamala Harris's tenure as Attorney General of California: nominated at RM; New name: Kamala Harris as Attorney General of California 04:16, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

  1. Father of the Constitution: nominated at RfD; Target: James Madison (notified); notified Vanished user 570239752 (talk · contribs) 20:33, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
  2. Ministry of home affairs: nominated at RM; New name: Interior ministry 23:37, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

October 2024

[edit]
  1. Multiple pages:
    1. September 2024 Lebanon strikes: nominated at RM; New name: September 2024 Lebanon airstrikes; 19:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
    2. August 2024 Israel–Lebanon strikes: nominated at RM; New name: August 2024 Israel–Lebanon airstrikes; 19:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
    3. April 2024 Iranian strikes against Israel: nominated at RM; New name: April 2024 Iranian airstrikes against Israel; 19:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
    4. October 2024 Iranian strikes against Israel: nominated at RM; New name: October 2024 Iranian airstrikes against Israel; 19:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
    5. 2024 Iranian strikes against Israel: nominated at RM; New name: 2024 Iranian airstrikes against Israel; 19:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Per WP:PRECISION titles should unambiguously define the topical scope of the article - how can we reasonably say that "strikes is perfectly unambiguous? Are we supposed to believe that the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike was a military operation? Same for the 2022–present National Health Service strikes? "Airstrikes" is perfectly precise to accurately describe the nature of these attacks. For the first two nominations I would also support "... Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon".
  2. Haakon VIII Magnus: nominated at RfD; Target: Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway (notified); notified Againme (talk · contribs) 21:30, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Delete per this discussion [22]
  3. Next king of Norway: nominated at RfD; Target: Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway (notified); notified ExperiencedArticleFixer (talk · contribs) 21:32, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
  4. Ingrid I of Norway: nominated at RfD; Target: Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway (notified); notified Againme (talk · contribs) 21:34, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
  5. Next king of Denmark: nominated at RfD; Target: Christian, Crown Prince of Denmark (notified); notified ExperiencedArticleFixer (talk · contribs) 21:36, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
  6. 4C Untitled Flatiron Nonfiction Summer 2023: nominated at RfD; Target: Taylor Swift (notified); notified No Swan So Fine (talk · contribs) 21:42, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Delete or Retarget - The only google search results relating this redirect to the subject indicate that it was rumored this was an untitled book rumored to be about Swift, later revealed to be about BTS. For that reason I wouldn't say Swift is the appropriate target, if this redirect should be kept at all.
  7. Draft:William Cilium: nominated at RfD; Target: Billie Eilish (notified); notified Circlesymbol1 (talk · contribs) 21:43, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Delete - Can't seem to find any relation to the subject?
  8. Multiple pages:
    1. States General of the Netherlands: nominated at RM; New name: States General; 21:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
    2. States-General: nominated at RM; New name: Estates-General; 21:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Per WP:PRECISION. The States General of the Netherlands are one of only two bodies actually called "States(-)General" listed on the dab page, the other being the short-lived and long disbanded States General of the Batavian Republic (which could probably be merged into this article but that's another discussion for another time). All others are known as Estates-General (except the Catalonian body, the title of which is not translated).
  9. Talk:Lilian, Princess of Réthy: nominated at RM; New name: Lilian, Princess de Réthy 01:07, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: WP:COMMONNAME - Most sources I've seen use "Princess de Réthy" rather than "of Réthy". [23] Ngrams support this, though "Princess Lilian of Belgium" has been more common in recent years so I would support either title.[24].
  10. Watermelon (Palestinian symbol): nominated at RM; New name: Watermelon as a Palestinian symbol 04:27, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: WP:NATURAL disambiguation is generally preferred over parenthetical. The present parenthetical disambiguation could be read as though the Palestinian symbol is different from an actual watermelon, rather than simply being a usage of a watermelon as a symbol. I would also be open to Palestinian watermelon, in line with Kherson watermelon, though it seems as though that may be a slightly more niche usage and could be an ill-advised standard to apply here.
  11. Labour government, 1974–1979: nominated at RM; New name: Labour government (1974–1979) 03:11, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
  12. Labour government, 1964–1970: nominated at RM; New name: Labour government (1964–1970) 03:13, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

November 2024

[edit]
  1. Talk:Hussein of Jordan: nominated at RM; New name: Hussein, King of Jordan 15:24, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: It's been over a year since the last discussion so I think it's time to revisit this.
First of all, the current title fails WP:PRECISE by presuming this article is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. While that may be true by long-term significance, pageviews tell a different story [25], and we are supposed to consider both when judging a primary topic.
Additionally, last time around King Hussein was proposed as a reasonable alternative, but that also fails WP:PRECISE as there is another king known by the name of Hussein, Hussein bin Ali, King of Hejaz, who's long-term significance is not negligible.
  2. First Minister and deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland: nominated at RM; New name: First Minister and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland 02:12, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
  3. J. B. Pritzker: nominated at RM; New name: JB Pritzker 19:56, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Largely similar to this discussion, it appears as though Pritzker stylizes his name without any periods. I can't judge if it meets MOS:BIOEXCEPT to the letter, but his official website and social medias do not use periods, so WP:ABOUTSELF could apply [31][32][33]. It also seems like his name is most commonly used without periods in reliable sources, see The New York Times [34], Chicago Tribune [35], and Politico [36], for example. Forbes [37] is the only current source I can find using periods for his name, though without a space. It does look like most sources prior to his gubernatorial run used periods, only beginning to drop them in the years since, so this could perhaps be treated as a name change.

December 2024

[edit]
  1. The Dakotas: nominated at RM; New name: Dakotas 02:39, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
  2. National Congress of Argentina: nominated at RM; New name: Argentine National Congress 17:41, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: "Argentine National Congress" is more common than "National Congress of Argentina" in ngram usage [38]. It also has the added benefit of being more WP:CONCISE, and somewhat of closer to last year's requested move to the 'official' name.
  3. National Congress of Brazil: nominated at RM; New name: Brazilian National Congress 17:42, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: "Brazilian National Congress" is significantly more common than the current title in ngram usage [39] and is no less concise, precise, natural or recognizable.
