From an early age, Dasarathi was passionate about acting, participating in school plays and inter-school competitions. His first stage performance was at the age of nine in the fourth grade. This early exposure to performing arts inspired him to pursue acting as a career.

His big break came in 2016 when Venkat Prabhu, searching for actors with cricketing skills for Chennai 600028 II, cast him in the film on the recommendation of Abhinay Vaddi, grandson of the legendary actor Gemini Ganesan. Following this, Dasarathi appeared in supporting and negative roles in films such as RK Nagar (2019), directed by Saravana Rajan, Kanaa (2018), directed by Arunraja Kamaraj, Naduvan (2021), directed by Sharran Kumar, Valimai (2022)[5] and Thunivu (2023), directed by H. Dasarathi's performance in Thunivu, where he played a pivotal member of Ajith Kumar's team, earned him widespread recognition. In 2024, he portrayed a key role in Lal Salaam, which features a cameo by Rajinikanth.
In 2024, he appeared in several projects, including Ranam,[6] Amigo Garage,[7][8] Maya Puthagam, Seyon and others.
