Evaluate an article
[edit]This is where you will complete your article evaluation. Please use the template below to evaluate your selected article.
- 1817–1824 cholera pandemic
- I have chosen this article because, being in a pandemic currently , it is interesting to compare it to a past pandemic.
Lead
[edit]The lead contains an introductory sentence as well as a description of the sections. There is no information in the lead that is not included in other areas of the article. The lead is very concise with enough detail to get an overview of the article.
Lead evaluation
[edit]Content
[edit]The content in the article is relevant to the topic but it seems to be missing information about the cholera disease itself. It focuses more on the geography and impact than the disease itself. The content seems to be up to date with a source being retrieved in May of this year. This article addresses the anti-Asian influence that was caused by the cholera pandemic.
Content evaluation
[edit]Tone and Balance
[edit]The entire section about racism and xenophobia has only one source. This viewpoint is overrepresented and needs more source material. Otherwise, the article seems fairly neutral.
Tone and balance evaluation
[edit]Sources and References
[edit]There are a good amount of sources in this article and the article is well cited. The sources are old but the topic is from 1817-1824 so an article from 1960 could still be acceptable and relevant. The links work and appear to be from reliable sources.
Sources and references evaluation
[edit]Organization
[edit]The information in this article seems to be well researched and well written . I think there needs to be more information about the disease itself added into the article.
Organization evaluation
[edit]Images and Media
[edit]There are very few images that go with this article. The only photos are geography photos of the map of India. They are captioned well. They are visually appealing but I think it would benefit from more photos to help the description.
Images and media evaluation
[edit]Checking the talk page
[edit]Behind the scenes of this article, they are discussing changing formatting for the years of this pandemic. The discussion is very short. The article is rated C-class. It is part of three different WikiProjects. Medicine, India/West Bengal, and Death.

[edit]Overall impressions
[edit]This article has some very strong points. I think the points that they make in the article make sense and are well-written. However, I believe it is leaving out some very important information and could use more sources with certain sections. The idea is well formed but it needs some more explanation.
