The defined structure was the operative base of the successful performance of Copec during the last decade. In 2005, Sonamar was founded, a new subsidiary arisen from the maritime division of Sonacol. Also, the new Imported Products Terminal (IPT) of Quintero was constructed; this helped to face the overdemand of diesel from the energy generator companies, produced by the low precipitations and the argentinian gas supply problems from those years.
