My primary interests include the history of Christianity, Christian art (El Greco, Botticelli, illuminated manuscripts, Gregorian chant, Byzantine iconography, stained glass windows, tapestry, sculpture, ...), church and cathedral architecture (San Miguel, Chartres, Wawel, St. Vitus, St. Mark, ...), castles (Hohensalzburg, Alhambra, Conwy, ...), the history of philosophy, the history of cartography and early world maps, dystopian literature and cinema (Nineteen Eighty-Four, We, Brave New World, ...), antiquarian books, historic libraries (Abbey Library of St. Gallen, Trinity College Library, Vatican Library, John Rylands Library, British Library, Library of Congress, ...), the history of science, the history of mathematics, paleobiology (megalodon, titanoboa, ...), and space exploration.
One of my life goals is to understand the relationship between balance and excellence.
